Even though the promotions are the same, the EBC codes are different. After close tonight, last weeks coupon code will not be valid. They may be the same, but the EBC #s are different.

The the 20% off coupon will NOT stack with B2G1, but will EDGE will stack with the B2G1. B2G1 is considered a promo so the coupon will not work with it. They have never stacked like that before and they aren't going to start now. There is only 1 promotion per transaction. Also, being an ass towards the workers rarely gets you what you want.

Glad for a rerun of this coupon. Went to the only Gamestop with a Lego Batman in stock in my area. It was for the PS3. They said system says they have but could not find it. Probably employee holding it. Girl behind the counter says she just got it in for the 360 20 minutes ago. I say great I'll take. She says she doesn't have the case just the game. I asked for something off it. She says she can't do that. I have had employees give me an extra 10% off things so I know this is bs. Had it happen the other day with a Gameboy player. Well buying 3 games of the exact same price with the b2g1 is a 33% discount. The coupon is a 20% discount. So I think there is some leeway between the two there.

This isn't some GameStop conspiracy to reduce the amounts. The largest majority of their customers don't even use these coupons. The amount that does barely touch their profits so their would be no reason to drop the 25% system specific coupons. This coupon encompasses all used games and accessories, since it's more of a convenience, the percentage gets dropped.

They did this 20% coupon after a round of the 25% system specific coupons earlier in the year, and they still gave us the 25% like a month or so ago. Those wont be disappearing at all. They used this one again to help keep sales numbers up during this lull in the economy. B2G1 free sale is being done for that reason and because they are trying to match last years sales during this time, which was when the Halo 3 launch was. No conspiracy.

This is a standard coupon, the 20% coupon always comes between the 25% system specific coupons...

I didn't see this in the last thread, but I'll take your word for it. As far as the coupons, well I really don't remember seeing a 20% off coupon in a long while, if ever for G/S. In terms of motivation, it definitely drives up sales, but if you think that a lot of people aren't using this I'd have to disagree with you. Potentially every subscriber to their magazine is getting this coupon via email, whether or not they use it multiple times or not is not something we can answer on this board. I do believe that the coupons get used more than you think, based purely on the fact that its become a regular thing for GS, if it wasn't productive, they would kill it pretty quickly.
(Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but these are the same guys who have pretty much conquered every other independent Gaming shop...)

As far as a C-O-N spiracy? I hope that I'm wrong, and if I am great, then bring back the great coupons again. But if I'm right, then its just another small thing the retailer has done to step on my bad side.

This is the exact same case for me. I don't know why people are so concerned about these 20% off coupons. They have done these before. It's nothing new. In reality, I kind of prefer theses, considering it applies to accessories and stuff on any system. It gives you more flexibility in your shopping. If they kept pumping out these coupons, I'd love it.

Well I can only really base the usage on my area. In about a 100 mile radius, almost every GameStop I go to and use that coupon, the employees are genuinely surprised to see the coupons. They state that most people that get the newsletter that they sign up don't see the coupon or don't even read the ad. They just delete it from their inboxes.

I have to absolutely agree with this. When I started to bring these things into GS, the employees didn't know about them, and they were not new there. Now, they always say to me, "I don't know why other people don't use these."

Well the coupons have never worked together before so it's odd that they would automatically now. They might be through some glitch, but most of the time people have gotten the coupon to work with B2G1 is by the employee doing a manual override.

I went back and got the price fixed on the copy of Vegas 2 I bought. I actually got quite the deal by returning the games I bought. I had bought Vegas 2, Halo 3, and Too Human on the B2G1. Once I played Too Human I didn't really feel like keeping it, and since all 3 games were different prices I decided to return all 3. The employee that did the return gave me the full return value on all 3 games, even the free one. The return total was $140.28, and I had originally used some trade credit so what I had paid
was about $80. I also held on to Vegas 2, and I also picked up BioShock and Ninja Gaiden II since they were all $34.99. After purchasing those games I still had a refund of $72 credited back to my credit card!

I still need to go back and pick up Halo 3 with the coupon though. I didn't have one on me. :(

I haven't seen another person use these coupons in store other than myself, unless I handed a coupon to some random customer and they used it. There is obviously a limited market of people who use these coupons. When I use a coupon most employees act like they have never seen it before. You can get some good deals if you take advantage of the trade in promo's then use your store credit when a good coupon like this comes out. Even better if the game you wanted to buy just recently had a price drop.

As I found out with my cousins children have to have something as soon as they see it on the shelves so when people are buying for their kids they are not thinking about using a coupon but they are thinking about satisfying their kids immediate craving for whatever game they pick up. Since the kid will obviously throw a tantrum in the store if they don't get the game, the parent buys the game at any price in any condition. This is gamestop's ideal customer, the parent with kids that must have game x as soon as they see it on the shelf.

They probably get approx. 1 coupon user out of 20 transactions if that, they might only get one coupon user per day or even less than that. Considering how much the other customers buy without the coupon and the fact that the edge card gets them to continuously buy from gamestop and assures that they will come back to the store over and over I don't think the coupons even touch their profits, since most of their sales will be non coupon sales.

Business wise i think it's smarter for them to do these non system specific coupons. The reason being, if they do system specific coupons, only people with those systems are going to bother coming in. If it's a coupon for PS3 games and i don't own a PS3, i'm not going to bother. Actually, it was probably the "Gamers Savings Club" card...it is CC's version of the edge card, but it gives you 10% on new games and accessories. I bought it to add an extra bonus to clearance games. I believe the cost was $19.99 for 1 year. More information can be found on CC's website.

The easiest way to decide whether or not such discount cards are worth the price is to look at what kind of consumer you are. If tend to buy a lot of games during the year, they are absolutely worth it. I mean, take this CC card. It's only $20, so after you buy just four new games (assuming they are between $50 and $60), you've already paid it off. Everything beyond that is savings in your pocket.

The deals that Tagout was refrencing, the ones with the gift cards, the Gamers Savings Card will stack with. This does not need an override and I have done it numerous times in the past with games like FF: Crisis Core, Dragon Quest 4, and I believe MGS 4 I think that was a strat guide. The only time I've ran into it not stacking is when a games is given a percentage off with the exception of clearance as you stated. For a consumer like myself this is the best deal out there for new games.

Search feature is working for me. Possibly that store isn't updating correctly, there is one store around here that had their router fail and is on dial-up for their authentication for credit cards and other items. Since they've been on dial-up their store stock hasn't been correct. I know that it was working for the other stores around me because their stock changed this morning with items they just got in last night.

On another note, does anyone have any suggestions to pick up for the 360. I've got a fair number of the games, just debating on one or two final games to get. If I can find Lego Batman it's mine, but other than that, I'm kind of coming up with a blank.

The online search has also been accurate for me. My problem only has been that when I go in the store (I usually call first) they tell me that they can't find the game. Happened with Dragon Quest 4.

One GS had Kirby Super Star Ultra used but when I went in, the clerk told me that an employee had checked it out. Damn GS and their policies! For this one instance, I wish that employee would have gutted a new copy and left the used copy alone. :lol: Maybe the clerks are just lying and they want to keep the game for themselves. Who knows? I just got a 120GB HD for the 360, is the transfer kit for it still free or is there another way to transfer data from the old HD?

You can use a memory card, but that obviously could be a bit slower, and I do believe I remember people saying there are certain saves that cannot be copied to a memory card for some reason. Picked up Buzz Quiz for the PS3 for $27.99 with coupon and EDGE. Sucks how they sell you the controllers separately but it was only $6.99 with all the discounts so it was not too bad.

The Street Fighter game was the most expensive game of the four, and I bought it at the second Gamestop. The cashier - the manager, I overheard - ended up ringing me up with the coupon, switching to another register when the card machine didn't work, and conveniently forgot to use the coupon the second time around.

Finally, I tracked down a used 120GB HDD. In true GS fashion, it was at the second store in my city, one I have been to twice during the last two weeks. Asked both times and was shot down. Decided to call around today and figured I'd try my luck with that store first, even though I doubted one suddenly appeared. Fortunately, the one employee at that store who has a clue picked up the phone and said they had one. It was apparently there awhile, and the other employees simply didn't know and didn't bother to look.

Now, here's to hoping GS will honor my request for the cable.
