You can prob buy the LE anywhere and just return the one you get from BB later. I've done that a few times.

Well if this helps, went out to BB last night at midnight to pick up Resistance 2.... got there at 10: 45, first in line..... at midnight I was the only one in line.... and yes they made me wait in the cold the whole time. Hopefully Gears will have at least 5 people at my store.

This I don't understand. This is a DVD disc, not a game console with new and proprietary hardware that can only be produced in limited numbers. What's the point of waiting in line for an hour to score 1 out of 100 copies in stock? Were they giving away "swag" that only the first people in line would get?

Anyone going to the midnight release in Cary, NC? Epic developers are supposed to be there so I'm wondering if their "swag" is only available to those who sit out in front of the store.

I just preordered on Monday (they had at least 5 more boxes), but I noticed the back of the preorder case says preorder by 10/25 to guarantee yourself a RC car. We'll see what happens.

I am headed to the launch party for the other gold burst gun code and maybe some other schwag. I also heard reports of only 3-4 people showing up for the RFoM2 launch at the store nearest me. However, if this is anything like the Halo launches their will be a good turn-out. Only time will tell.

They've screwed me before out of exclusive stuff. They gave out a free Resident Evil tote bag with the blu-ray. I pre-orederd, but then they said it was backordered after they shipped the movie. Of course, they never got any more, so they just canceled my order.

Granted, the RC tank seems to be a bigger deal and they actually pulled the online order pretty early. So hopefully, we all actually get our tanks.

The problem I am having is the game is getting shipped to my old address because it was still listed as my default address even though I removed from their system three weeks ago. I went to my local Best Buy here in CA and they previously told me on two separate occasions that they would not be having a midnight launch of Gears 2. As I walk in the door today they have a giant sign saying that they will have a midnight launch. The store still had about 50 limited edition w/ RC Tank preorders left. I wouldn't be surprised about BB simply dropping the ball on this one. When I went to ask for the simple Little Big Planet pre-order bonus, they had no idea of what I was talking about. Good move, saved your friend a lot of hassles. If that girl continue to argue, you should just pop open the case and show her the redemption card, that should shut her up good.

I asked for a refund for a game I didn't end up getting and they gave me store credit after having to over-ride the system. The rep stated that the new system doesn't allow them to refund past 30 days. The only way to get your money back is to buy the game and then return it.

CS told me they have enough to fill preorders only about 20 and will be kept behind counter, after you paid for your preorder. There is no extras of LE. only standard edition.

I suggest all of you call your BB of where you preorder, as to how they are doin this preorder hand-out.
They should follow the preorder slip in the insert. Now if people did preorder w/o the bar code, this will screw over others who actual have the slip (i was offer this, but i kept on insisting, so the rep went to the back and got the boxes).

Tanks are supposed to be available to those who pre-ordered the game with the tank redemption slip...you would need that slip to pick up the game. I'm sure you can score LE and a Gold Hammerburst though, they're sure to have quite a bit of those.

Everyone who pre-ordered will get a RC and any extras outside of my pre-orders that purchase a LE tomorrow will also receive the RC Car for free. They are only $29.99 separately if you really don't want GOW2 and want the RC separately. Not that anyone in their right mind would want to do that.

I pre-ordered at my local Best Buy but its not doing a midnight launch. Does Best Buy actually set PO's aside or am I basically hoping against luck since I work at the mall from 10am-9pm tomorrow. Best Buys do set games aside to fulfill the pre-orders, usually at the CS desk. Though I doubt that even without a pre-order you wouldn't be able to find an LE copy tomorrow...they're not as "Limited" as they make you think they are. They should just call them "collectors edition"

Normally I would agree with you, but both gamestop.com and bestbuy.com stop taking preorders for LE. Also someone mentioned that BB only got enough LE equal to number of preorder cases. There is still amazon.com but I could see this being less commong than GoW1 or Halo 3 LE

just left bb in Springfield pa....tank is pretty good lookingnas far as I can tell... Didn't really look... You get a choice of a free longsleeve shirt or gears of war trucker hat... Not sure if that is a midnight release only...you also get a code card for free golden hammer burst...they had plenty of codes so if you go tomorrow morning you prob will get one. As for tanks they were being given out strictly to preorders

Shirts-were only offered in L and XL..its long sleeved, with 3/4 of the sleeve a
different color (grey).

RC tank-it looks nice, its a dark steel color. Could have been a little bigger ..like $30 worth of bigger..and the remote looks alright, but I was never a fan of the long bent-outta-shape antennas

edit: I just opened up the LE..and i might say its very nice. The case within the case is similar to Devil may cry 4. Its metal with an all metal coloring. one side has the lancer muzzle end of the lancer, and the back side has the trigger end. Also came with a code-card for the 5 piece map-pack. ( i wasn't aware of that).

The beneath the surface book is pretty cool from just my first flip through. You also get a playing card sized replica of the photo marcus holds of him and his ho in the commercial


so i think thats enough to tide you CAGers over until you all get it, but now ive had the game for an hour and its time to play. peace

i left my house at 11:30 got there around 11:45..only had about 20 or so people ahead of me. When they opened up Id there was at least 50ish. They had everything at customer service with only 2 registers at my place. Unfortunately I got stuck in a line where at the front there were like 5 asian nerds who had nothing ready (hint: that means have your preorder receipt, ID, money, tank slip, and reward zone card out). They were just goofing around the whole time while the guy was tryin to get their info so it was mad annoying. So as a curtesy to other gamers have your Rzone stuff filled out and the rest of your swag out and ready.

Back to the shirts..again they only had L and XL, they didnt have too many. I was about 8th in my line (slow line) with another line moving a little bit faster, and by the time i got up to the register they only had about 4 or so Larges left. I got an XL, even though im a large usualy, and luckily i made the right choice because the shirts run a little small.

ps- gears 2 looks rediculously nice on an SD tv..got an Hd downstairs but dont feel like disconnecting and hooking everything up

update #1023232...just opened the tank (sorry no pix)..the thing looks really nice outside the case, like badass nice. Def not $30, I would say $15ish..only downside (as expected)...NO BATTERIES. so if you go out be sure to get 1 9v battery for the controller and 3 AAA for the tank itself. The tank looks like it could have some zip to it once it has batteries. Overall im pretty glad I went to BB over CC. I wasn't expecting the golden hammerburst (thought it was GS only), wasn't expecting the shirt (and it fits me nicely which is a plus), and the tank is a nice computer desk addition.

um exact dimensions i listed on page 19 i think or 18...to put it into perspective its like a nice sized mango on wheels. A lot of detail, the color is boss, and it even has little cog logos on the side, cannon is rotatable 360 degrees..I think most CAGs will be satisfied as long as they were not expecting a tank the size of a fisher price escalade for kids.

i think hats and shirts are midnight release only, cause they werent mentioned in the ad and it seemed like everyone at my store was being offered one. The hat looked pretty flimsy, but if trucker hats are your thing then go ahead.

Tank kinda blows. i looks nice but it has absolutely no power whatsoever. it won't move but an inch forward or back on my normal flat rug. should be ok on a hardwood floor but i am really disappointed.

From the east coast here, just got back an hr. ago.. my local BB wasn't midnite opening, but I went w/ 2 friends for a midnite launch party at Miejer (a retail chain store like Wal-mart, located in MI, IN & OH)... hoping to score a code for the golden hammer.

Got there at 10PM and was 1st ones there, few more shown up 30 mins later.. overall about 10 people and only 8 bought the game. But things were really cool, We got to sit inside from the rain and cold, they served us, snack bars and sports drinks..all we can eat.. lol.. since there was only 10 people inline, every1 got a Promo gift bag. I got a T-shirt, hat & the golden hammer code (sweet).

Heard from the other people inline that our local gamestop had 70+ people inline... Store like Meijer, gets better credit in my book for doin this.. rather than gamestop.

Overall it was fun... goin to pick up the tank earily tomo..

I have to comment on the employees working at my BB (Sacramento, CA) during the Gow2 midnight launch. There were about 6 employees total, 1 manager (surprisingly).

The 3 that were helming the registers forgot to hand out the free hats and Tshirts so the first 4 people who picked up the game left without their free stuff (I was the 5 person in line and actually ASKED the employee for the hat and shirt). After that, the employees finally got on board and started handed the free stuff out.

The gold Hammerburst code cards were sitting in a stack next to the register, and since the card doesn't say anything about the Hammerburst on the front, some people forgot to grab it.

Unfortunately I got stuck in a line where at the front there were like 5 asian nerds who had nothing ready (hint: that means have your preorder receipt, ID, money, tank slip, and reward zone card out). They were just goofing around the whole time while the guy was tryin to get their info so it was mad annoying. So as a curtesy to other gamers have your Rzone stuff filled out and the rest of your swag out and ready.

Just wonderful! Ordered the LE & Tank from bb.com on 10/5 and the game shipped 11/5, but the tank shows as backordered. Way to go Best Buy. Last time I preordered something and the bonus showed as backordered, the bonus got canceled.

i believe you get it free when you buy the Limited Edition...otherwise, it's $30 no matter how you purchase it through BB...that said, even getting it free with the LE would probably show $30 on the receipt for the Tank and $40 on the receipt for the game

Went this morning, and there wasn't a single RC tank for any of the pre-orders. I asked them if they would at least match the CC promotion, knowing that it's a big YMMV. They said no, but as I was in the middle of cancelling the order, they changed their tune. At least I got the stupid points card.

^^^ Mine says the same thing, anyway BB in bowie MD had 3 boxes of tanks (10 pieces in each = 30 tanks), they had them all behind customer service just for pre-orders and a display with a crap ton of limited editions. no hat or shirt or gun code but at least i got my tank

Just picked up the LE at BB and got the AC tank. They had about 10 of the tanks left. They were sitting in a stack next to the GoW 2 standee that holds games and guides.

My receipt states the AC tank was 0.00. The description says it is a gift w/ purchase of the LE, regularly $29.99.

Well, it all depends on your luck. At my store there were 0 tanks for any pre-orders. Others are reporting that at some stores they had enough for pre-orders, and even some additional ones.

I got my Best buy to match the Toys R us ad.. they said they don't do price matching for gift cards, but then I had my printed copy of the INSTORE POLICIES from their website, and then they just took 15 bucks off the game. What is really messed up is that she basically lied to me, cause as she was ringing me up the manager came over to do an overide for the pricematch and said that I was now the 8th customer to bring the TRU ad that they had to do this for today w/ gears 2. She knew the real policy all along, but had i not printed the instore policy from the website, all the price-guarantee literature in the store and signage says they don't match offers. Pretty messed up if you ask me! I have now done this twice, last night I got them to give me Resistance 2 for 10 bucks off matching circuit city's deal w/ gift card. I love it cause I hate having to go back to spend money w/giftcards etc.

Went in to BB today to pick up my Game/Tank. I must say the tank is kinda cool. The best buy I preordered at only had 3 preordered and the rest are sitting on the floor in a stack waiting to be sold. No Mention to people coming in today if it is free or if it is $29.99 with the purchase of the game.

Ok here's my understanding/adventure about an hour ago...

The "coupon" for the free tank is inside the $5 Preorder case. (I preordered yesterday)

Today I was first in line 10 a.m. to get one of the 8 per store minimum tanks...alas no tanks had arrived

(250 locations will be receiving tanks Sat/Mon via UPS as part of the tank order was held up in customs)

Each store received a notice (via e-mai) of how to handle the missing tanks for preorder customers.

I bought the game, received a printed raincheck for the tank (I was also told to bring in the tank coupon which she stapled to the raincheck) and a free 1 month XBox live card for my trouble (this is part of the e-mail).
My store has no idea how many tanks are coming, so they limited the rainchecks to 8.

All this took at least 45 minutes to figure out... I was persistent with the store manager about guaranteeing the tank.

No prob, dude. It's a shame BB has kinda dropped the ball on the Tank offer, many of their stores didn't even get them in because of some customs issue. Doing the pre-order online might be a safer bet even if you have to wait a bit longer.

They gave me a free 1 Month Live card (based off a email they received), but would not PM any deals since I was getting the tank. The employee gave me a raincheck and said the email told them they would get the tank either tonight or tomorrow. We'll see.
