I bit for one, my main beef with Rosenqueen is that they charge your card when you buy it instead of charging you after it ships but I've gotten everything I've paid for from there so I suppose all's that ends well. The 2000 limited booklet just begs for a quick order anyhow.

The 12 page artbook comes with the RQ CD. I imagine like liner notes. That's different from the artbook everyone gets. What's with all the complaints about shipping though? Did they drastically raise the price recently? Cause typically when I order from them shipping is about $4, same as Amazon Prime overnight and I get it just as fast. 1) They charge you at the time of purchase.
2) Their shipping prices and lack of coupons/deals are discouraging.

If this sticks at 30 bucks on Amazon, it's really not worth it for just a bonus CD. If the premium edition itself were only available through RosenQueen, then I might bite, but no sense paying an extra 18 bucks for a small soundtrack with liner notes.

I couldn't agree with you more. After I saw that it was going to be $7.20 to ship it, I have decided to go with Amazon too. An extra soundtrack is not worth $17.20 in price difference. If it was a statue or a figure or something like that, sure. Extra sound tracks rarely increase the value or collectibility of a release by much. Especially if it is included without any alteration to the box set that everyone else will be getting. Special thanks to whoever posted the Amazon info.

If you dont care for all the original stuff that was with the first release of it, hit up eBay/gamestop they have them around $20-$30. If you want the original release(like me), good luck finding it in the hordes of re-prints out there.

One tip I have is to keep records of your attempts to reach the merchant. Like emails. You can fax them to the bank if they want them.

Personally, I'm short on cash, so with the near $20 disparity (a 61% markup) between Amazon and NIS pricing for a CD, I have to go with the former. If I want the OST later, I'll import the soundtrack (as it looks like that's where the entire tracklist is derived from). It looks as if the english release is missing content, as well (55/85). Mostly filler, but at least a few tracks of decent length.

And there's no reason for RSQ to not offer media mail. The weight excuse is bullshit for a game that probably won't be anything over 15 oz. First-class mail would be unavailable for anything over 13 oz., but not media.

Also, the reason Amazon says Koei is because Koei does handle distribution of some NIS-published games. They also publish and distribute NIS titles in Europe.

RQ has terrible and shoddy practices, I can't recommend not ordering from them enough. The two times I've ordered from them the games were packaged horribly and beaten up, and they're slow to respond to emails if at all. And when they do, they're generally not helpful, as seen above. Also charging when you order as opposing to when the item ships is something that doesn't cut it anymore in online shopping in fucking 2008.

It would take some sort of amazing bonus to get me to order from them again, and paying ridiculous shipping for a few pages of art and a CD weren't going to do it, and I'm glad I didn't know looking at the posts in here.

I really don't have a problem at all with RQ. I order right away though when games show up for pre-order to avoid any sort of missing items. I've pre-ordered three things from them, all of which have gone through fine without a hitch. The only issue I have is shipping (since they're in CA), but that's been my fault for picking Media Mail each time and being impatient.

I'm not bothered by the up front charge either, and I think it's kind of better like that for me since I'd prefer to just pay it off right away than get hit with it a month away when I'm not thinking about it.

I'm a bit surprised by all the hate for RQ. I've had nothing but good experiences every time I've ordered from them (I get plush prinnies as baby gifts). They've always been prompt with their email responses, friendly on the phone, shipping has been fast, and they've never charged me more than what it actually cost to ship.

Still, I can understand the complaints that others are giving.

As far as Ar Tonelico is concerned, my biggest complaint with the game was that it seemed to keep going on and on and on. I hadn't been more often faked out by "wait, it's not over yet"s since Albert Odyssey on the Saturn.

I think it's fairly clear that this was not an intentional discount (since they typically show both the MSRP and the discounted price like this: "$39.99 $29.99"), but rather Amazon was just mistaken about what the MSRP of the game was supposed to be.

So, technically they would be justified in cancelling all of the $29.99 orders under their pricing mistake policy-- the same thing happened with Call of Duty 5 preorders last month when Amazon mistakenly listed the price as $19.99.

On the other hand, the magnitude of this mistake was much smaller than the Call of Duty situation, both in the amount of the price difference and the number of people who probably took advantage of it. So I think there's a good chance they'll just let it slide. But we won't truly know until we either get cancellation emails or the game ships.

But again, if Amazon does decide not to honor the $29.99 price, they won't change the price of an existing order. Once you place a preorder the price will only ever be revised downwards, not upwards. What they'll do instead is cancel the order entirely, forcing you to place a new order at the $39.99 price if you still wanted the game.

"It depends on the weight of the item, if it's over a certain weight, USPS would not allow us to send media mail."

I said: "lol, I've send media mail before and have never encountered a weight limit as such before..."

I don't work at USPS, but the usps.com online calculator indicate a max weight of 70 lb for media mail... unless this game comes with a fucken suit of armor or something, I'd bet it's not going to weight more than 70lb...

Ar Tonelico is special because it's got that simdate element in a RPG setup-I don't think there's any other game I can recall off the top of my head that's going in the same direction (obviously if we look at a bunch of those JRPG that didn't get translated, there would be a few here and there, but most aren't quite in depth in terms of the simdate element and/or a decent RPG engine)

I like Rogue Galaxy because it's a real time hack and slash/RPG hybrid that's done in a really good manner-could he mean dungeon crawlers?

Man I loved that game way back when. And while they aren't as in-depth as that game, many games have elements of a dating sim in them. Yeah I know, I was just throwing them out there for those interested. You're right that Ar Tonelico is unique in its visual novel aspects, at least outside Japan.
Honestly, it's not even quite the same as Thousand Arms since that game had actual dates the player went on with the various girls complete with question and answer sessions and gift-giving whereas Ar Tonelico just has the player run through the linear cosmosphere sequences and then choose one of the three girls at the end.

yah i preordered on slot 77 left yesterday. Getting an extra artbook and OST (with the already included artbook and ost) is a wonderful deal for a budget priced ps2 game.

Don't be fooled by the extra "artbook." I believe it's just the booklet that comes with the OST.

the premium package, I think, is just the normal version with that extra disc and whatnot; the preorder bonus, on the hand, is that extra ost that is offered by Rosenqueen

I preordered this at amazon AGES ago... like... september 9th or something crazy. 29.99 is hard to beat... ALOT better thrn 48.99 shipped from Rosen (IMO), fingers crossed, it should bring the artbook which is all i wanted aside from the game itself!

I'm pretty sure the artbook is part of the entire "premium" package and isn't a pre-order bonus, so you have no worries there.

Unless you're referring to the art book (which probably isn't much of one) that comes with the pre-order bonus soundtrack.. in which case you won't be getting it anyway cause it's a Rosenqueen exclusive.

Finished Ar Tonelico today (as in seeing all 7 endings). I'm pumped for AT2 now. After that my plan is to start Mana Khemia (and to get ready for the sequel release later this year), then A-6 through A-8. Then after that play through Persona 4 again, then some other SMT games.

All this while managing a successful adult wow guild and dab into SMT:IMAGINE...life is tough ;)

That's pretty much how I feel about any NIS or Atlus game as of late. It seems like only the really popular ones (Persona 4) don't drop in price right away.

Honestly though, I don't see this being rare by any means. The CAGs who got it for $30 are damn lucky though.

Rosenqueen deal seems pretty good in retrospect, art collection with more than half the pages of the artbook, plus a CD with more tracks than the one with the game. Not bad imo.

Just for an FYI- the game isn't working on the 80GB PS3(Software Emulation) with the latest firmware, 2.60.

Same problem with Mana Khemia where you start the game and you end up with a black screen. I hear it's working on the 60GB hardware emulation but then again, what doesn't?

Although Mana Khemia was eventually patch fixed on a firmware and began working on software emulation but there's no telling when Ar Tonelico 2 will be so I say be mindful of this if you're going to get the game without having a ps2 and you plan to play on a software emulation PS3.
