From Planet Half-Life (http://planethalflife.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=154043):

In an effort to further support the thriving Half-Life 2 mod community, Valve has invited five of the top mods to the Steam platform and will be available in the same way Steam games are. That's to say, for the below mods, you'll never have to download their patches again or worry about the best mirror to download from, all you need to do is download it directly from Steam and let the updates come. The five mods supported at the moment are:

Age of Chivalry
(http://www.age-of-chivalry.com/index2.php)DIPRIP (http://www.diprip.com/news.php5)
Synergy (http://www.synergymod.net/)
Insurgency (http://www.insmod.net/)
Zombie Panic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_Panic%21_Source) [its website isn't working for me]

This is awesome news for the HL modding community. Steam downloads, auto-updates, and Steamwork support. I'm really looking forward to more mods getting the official Steam treatment. These five mods will be available from Steam beginning next week.

I saw this this morning when I loaded up Steam. Great news. The only thing is I don't want it to show up in the Steam store. It's already way to cluttered. They should just have a mod section.

Wonder why they didn't include MINERVA since the dude is working for them now?

Wonder why they didn't include MINERVA since the dude is working for them now? They were looking at mods that would be updated frequently and push the use of SteamWorks. MINERVA doesn't quite fit there.
