I know the default answer is "No talk about emulators or private servers", but I wanted to know if it'd be alright to make a post about an emulator for a PC game that was:

1. Online Only.
2. Shut down in 2002, never to return in any form.
3. Now turned into an emulator/private server by a dedicated group of fans working over the past 2 years.

I don't know the status of the specific IP rights, but I do know that this group did request to buy them but the company would not sell it. This emulator group hasn't exactly been "hush-hush" about their work, but despite that the IP owner has not issued a "cease & desist" or "formal approval" of the effort.

As such, since the group has finally gone into "Public Alpha" (i.e., you can log into the server and play, but no missions active yet), I was wondering if it'd be ok to make a thread in this subforum, and get a new clan going on an old favorite.

Mods, please respond. Thanks.

No.

EDIT: Honestly, it's been what, 6 years? I would say it's fine considering the game is no longer running, no one is losing money (aside from those working on the emulator) and if anything, the new exposure could help the company in a small way.

I haven't received word, so I guess I'll post proper details about the game later today, and see if we can get a CAG clan going once the game is running proper.

I would say that if it's not strictly out right about it, like the company didn't send a cease order... then it should be ok to talk about it...

what is the game.... that's driving me nuts.
