I'll probably use this to hunt up a copy of Pure. Found Lego Batman and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. Meh, nothing I really want from the new systems, especially since I've cleaned up with the previous 25% off coupons for the respective systems.

I'm dying for a really good coupon(s) for the previous generation(s), like 50% off Gamecube/Gameboy games, or 50% off PS2 games.

They need to start liquidating those out with combinations of B2G1 and 30% or more off coupons.

I still have a ton of PS2 games I want to pick up, but 30%-35% off total off of the expensive PS2 games is just not enough. I need the Fatal Frames, Baldur's Gate 2, .hack part 4 etc. to be well under $20 each after the coupon, not to mention Marvel v Capcom 2. Gimme that for under $40 and now we're talkin'.

This is actually true. Well it depends on where you live I believe. In Alachua County (where I live) their is a law that Gamestop must follow where they are not allowed to sell any traded in game for 2 weeks. It is apparently used as an anti-theft measure in case someone steals a persons games and consoles and trades them in for cash. This way the people that get robbed might have a chance of getting their stuff back.

Well, glad there isn't too much upset at this being 20% versus 25%. If anything, I think cag's might have a friend at Gamestop, let me explain.

If they were thinking of dropping the system specific ones to 20%, one of their weeks sales they would likely look at is this week, with 20% off only next generation games. The thing is, after the last 2 weeks, people who know about the coupons aren't going to be jumping on much this week (only games they weren't able to find before). So, you shouldn't get a big sales jump for the next gen systems this week as opposed to last week.

I just jumped on Guitar Hero (PS2), a used guitar, and Bully (360) Tuesday of last week, so between that and my backlog, I'm sitting good at the moment. Likely won't be picking much up this week.

I always wondered if this would happen, since I believe most retail managers love to enforce made up rules to feel powerful (since they are grown adults having to work in a store for 35k a year). I know some old GS managers in my youth would have made issues with me using more than 1 a week (and probalby even using each coupon once).

Though, I'm lucky (in a sense), I have 4 Gamestops within 2 miles of each other (and 3 within about 1 mile), so I'm rarely in the same one more than once a week.

They don't throw those system specific coupons out once a month. This coupon is still better than 75% of the ones we normally got. We've had a GREAT streak of coupons for a while. I don't see why everyone is so ready to complain. Would you guys prefer a $5 off used game with the purchase of Fracture? How about a Extra 10% trade-in on DS coupons?

Granted this isn't as good as last weeks, but still. Everyone seems so quick to jump to conspiracy theories and naysaying. We are lucky enough to gotten a decent stream of coupons as is. If were to go back and look at the past 6 months of these coupons, you'd see we'd get like 3 coupons that were good, then about a month and a half of crap. That is how it has been. As far as the flexibility goes, why would you give up $5-$10 per transaction to pick up a game on a different system when if you waited a week, you could easily pick that game up for cheaper? It's not like the coupon is on for every system and their accessories either, it's only on the 3 next gen system's games, in my book that's not a whole lot of flexibility! CAG's have been known to wait for a deal, and then rack up. Look no further than the Target and $0.01 Guide threads to see that in action. This just seems silly to me.

The economy 'thing' has hit me personally pretty hard and I am saving my green so that come Holiday time I can (hopefully) cash in on the buy 2 get 1 free they have around Black Friday or Christmas when the games I want match up better than they did last weekend due to price drops.

I have a feeling they will continue the run on great coupons as the economy sours. Hopefully though they will bring back the 25% off as if they notice they sell as much as the 20%, they wont do it since whats the point of losing (as a company) 5% profits when the customers will buy as many games with 20% as they will with 25%?

Yeah.... a company is a company and if they see the same turn out for 20 as for 25, then they will scale back to the 20, it wouldnt make sense for them not to. Heck no one wants to lose 5% in profits.

Looking through all of those old threads, people were saying the SAME THINGS back then. All the way back to february people were making the same arguments and they still gave us the 25% off system coupons. They just go through phases. They put out the coupon they think will help them keep sales numbers up at different periods of the year. From what I've seen, all the 20% off in that list, are for more than one system, so people need to just calm down.

I am really surprised that they haven't given us any 25% off Xbox/360 coupons. Most GS stores are stuffed with Xbox games, especially very popular games, like Halo 3, Gears, GTAIV, etc. You'd think they really want to focus on moving some of that stuff.

No, there weren't if I remember correctly, and I have been taking advantage of these coupons for awhile. The closest thing I remember was when they would combine company-specific consoles, like 25% off Xbox and Xbox 360 titles. That's not the same as getting to choose between Wii, 360, and PS3 titles.

Sorry that I've pointed out some crappy aspects to deals in a couple topics... constructive criticism is a bad thing... Gamestop gets my business when it is the 25% off coupons, the B2G1F, or when I really want a game. And I am helping to ensure those good deals keep coming for you and me. I'm going to do my best to not stir things up anymore, but not sure if I can do that. Anyways, this conversation seems to be limited to a few of us in every thread. Bigdaddy and myself on the side that it goes in phases, J7 and a few others on the side of they are changing their tactics. To be honest, neither side knows if they are right or not, if anything we all come off as kinda bitchy. Definitely not a good thing.

We know 2 things, they done a straight 3 shot on the 20% multi-console coupons, and we haven't seen a 25% off system specific since September 4th. That was the last day of that specific deal. Since then, we have seen a $20 off used Xbox/PS2 system, an extra 25% trade-in, and 3 20% off general systems coupons with slight variations. This neither proves J7 right or wrong. It also doesn't prove bigdaddy and myself wrong or right.

Making statements in this thread that we shouldn't use these coupons, well they are quite fruitless. Even if every CAG who read this thread did that, according to J7 in an earlier thread, there are many more people besides CAGs who use these coupons. So what's the point? Why should we hold off when everyone else isn't? Not using it wont change their minds because we aren't a large enough group. Also, if they really want to get rid of the 25% system specific coupon, they will get rid of it.

I use these coupons to specifically get new releases within a week or two of their release date used. I don't want to wait to get them, because I know that more than likely these copies will be in Mint/Near Mint condition. If you wait long enough they will be the standard semi-decent quality. I don't want that personally. Hopefully this doesn't inflame things anymore, but I just want to kind of clear the air.

It will come to about $30 before tax. They sell for $44.99 so after 20%:bomb: + 10% edge that's the amount you get. Add your tax and you've got your total.

For me in NY it's 8.625% so all the edge does is knock off the tax for me...


As far as DERAILING the thread, J7. you can apologize if you want, but I don't see that you did anything wrong other than disagree with the masses. People act like 5% is nothing, yeah okay. 5% adds up quickly depending on how much you spend, and in that case it's all relative. People keep saying that they would gladly sacrifice 5% to be able to have an anything coupon, well I'm just saying that it would be great if that anything coupon happened to be 25% rather than merely 20%. Well, the wording on the coupon is ambiguous as to whether or not this is a one-time only coupon. Corporate will probably give you some "manager's discretion" company line.

This is a great coupon and all, but since they released the 20% cell phone coupon this is essentially the same thing but without the hassle of bringing it up on your phone or the cell phone impaired or even those who might not get that coupon for their area. I can't remember the games, but they were getting ripped off on the trades, weren't going to have enough to get whatever it was the kid wanted, and I had a low want for a couple of games so I bought a couple for a more fair value (still better than GS's price used purchase price) and they got what they wanted. The GS guys didn't seem to mind too much and thought it was great they could buy what they wanted.

I was in a hurry so I walked in and tried to use this coupon on a PS2 game, I just printed it and I didn't even read the 360/PS3/Wii part :lol:

I did the same thing with a DS game. It was Tetris, so I still bought it, but I made a sour face while doing so.

Sure...but so does everyone else. This is the type of coupon they hope will get the ignorant and/or lazy to come in with their old crap, just wanting to dump it already. Then, they trade their old games in for a few bucks, and then they will still have to spend a good chunk of money on what they want.

Economically, it probably makes sense for them to offer an incentive on older title trade in values on the hope that you'll use the credit to move stock with a higher profit margin for them or that you'll buy something else in store while you are there.

Also, there can't be that many of us taking advantage of these every week. The cashiers at both my local stores always remark about what a great deal I end up getting and how I'm the only one who ever uses them.

Pretty much. This is the experience many CAGs seem to have. Up until I actually started bringing them in on a regular basis, no one at my two local stores really ever saw these coupons.

I was just thinking along similar lines, it seems to me that most people are using this for games that just came out. In the near future possibly expect 20% all used games more than 2 months old or some such nonsense.

Yeah, I have never seen anyone use one of these coupons in the store whenever I went there. I love these 20% off coupons, I can buy new games for ~40, and a few months down the line if I decide I don't want them anymore, Blockbuster always gives a decent TIV, Goozex, or Ebay.

I have been using Blockbuster a lot lately, mostly for the easiness of it. I have run into way too many problems using Ebay, it is pretty much my last resort, lol.

Backwards Compatibility. You can still play most of those games on the 360 and Wii.
