View Full Version : Extremely frequent Firefox crashes.

Random pages make Firefox crash. I don't know why, but it's incredibly inconvenient. The crashes have absolutely no rhyme or reason and are completely sporadic. For example, right now, I can't enter the Wii forum. However, I may be able to access it five minutes, five hours, or five days from now; I have no way of knowing. Yesterday, I had to avoid the Contests and Fee Stuff section, and the day before that, the 360 forum.
I can't visit Kotaku, period.
Random IGN pages make me crash.
Various news articles and websites crash.
My email crashes occasionally.
Etc.
As you can imagine, this is unbelievably frustrating while trying to gather sources for a paper. I can successfully check my email about 50% of the time, which is not good, considering I get emails from my professors almost every day.
Anybody know of a fix? Some settings I should change? Anything will do...

Almost sounds like it could be a bad ad/flash causing the crashes. Do you use Adblock Plus or flashblock? You might try installing those to see if it still crashes.

Do those come with the browser? I don't think I've manually installed either of those.

I'm running into the same problem. Seems like when it comes to running certain plug-ins on websites it'll randomly crash or just operate without a hitch.
I'm just glad it has the "Resume Previous Session" option otherwise I'd quit using Firefox.

Unfortunately, the "resume previous session" option doesn't resume downloads. I was 96% through a five hour download and it crashed. I had to start it all over again.

I've been getting crashes ever since I upgraded to 3.0. I never had these kinds of problems with 2.x.
Sometimes it'll show that crash reporter screen and sometimes it just freezes forever. It's completely random though. I've never had it crash on me while I'm on CAG.
I have Flashblock, Adblock, and NoScript installed already and that doesn't seem to stop the crashes at all.
I might just downgrade back to 2.whatever since that worked fine for me.

I was getting these crashes a few weeks ago. It got so annoying so I switched to Chrome. I was using 2.x btw.

Uninstall, reinstall, see if it works.
