So I got an e-mail from Amazon based on my pre-order for AR Tonelico 2: Melody of MetaFalica Premium Edition about Mana Khemia Alchemists of Al-Revis.
After checking it out, it looks like the game is getting a reprint like Disgea, Okami, and several other niche titles that made it to "Greatest Hits" status at $19.99
Here's the Amazon.com Link (http://www.amazon.com/Mana-Khemia-Alchemists-Al-Revis-Playstation-2/dp/B001E7MMOK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1223055755&sr=1-1)
Has anyone else played this, and would they recommend it?

It's also coming out in January on PSP, for what it's worth.

Wow, is that new sideways cover art for real?

It is real, but it is not new. Thats the cover inside the outer box.

I played it. It's not bad. The leveling up system is 'somewhat' similar to FFX's sphere grid system in which you gain points to move along a grid. It gets a little annoying though because to move along the grid you have to 'alchemize' something. The battle system is turn based and pretty simple, but some of the battles are intense if you haven't upgraded your guys. Took me around 40hours to finish.. I think? Overall I give it a 7/10.

Thanks for your feedback -- I'll take a more critical eye to deciding if I want to pick it up.

I enjoyed the game for the most part. Though I'm suprised it did well enough to get a 2nd printing.

I've really enjoyed what I've played of it. However I also can't believe it sold enough copies to be a Greatest Hits title.
The game is a fun diversion, and I found the 'grid' alchemy level up system interesting. It's not a very meaty game; I played it mostly to enjoy the world, artwork, and the characterizations. It's cute, for lack of a better word. I'd personally give it about a 7 out of 10. It's no Persona 3, or Final Fantasy, so I'd suggest that you read more about the game before purchasing.

This isn't a Greatest Hits version, just a reissue by NISA.

So basically a 2nd print run due to sell out of the 1st run. Sounds like NIS is doing something right here I say.

Urk. My mistake. Still, awesomesauce that they sold enough to warrant another print run. Hopefully there will be a sequel at some point. A direct one, not a general NISA Alchemy title.

Mana Khemia 2's localization chances are totally unknown at this point... But then again, people said that Ar tonelico II and even Persona 4 were too niche and too late in the PS2's life to get localized. I'd say that Mana Khemia 2 has a pretty decent shot.

Hopefully we get Khemia 2. I definately did like getting the extras with the first installment.
