Depends if you manage to return the game and get a gift card, thats like cash just add what you need, no you are stuck with the free game so make sure THAT one is something you want.

I'm so tempted to jump on this deal, but I've worked Gamestop to a profit of $300 in credit currently, so I think it's easier to spend $20 there than $12 out of my pocket. No you are reading it wrong. It is not valid on stuff you bought prior to this week. You can't have bought three games last week and bring them all back today and get one free is what it is saying. (Though theoretically you could return them all and rebuy to get the deal, they just won't adjust your receipt, you would have to return/rebuy them all).

Also Dragon Quest IV still isn't working. I checked my local store last night and they don't even have a spot for it to be placed on the shelf :(

This happened to a ton of people on Boardgamegeeks: they'd order a number of clearanced board games only to have most of their order canceled. Usually, the in-demand and best deal games were canceled, leaving only the cheap crap games that people bought on a whim since it didn't increase the shipping. TRU would then ship it without notifying the person or reducing the shipping cost. Also there were instances where they forgot to pack items and refused to acknowledge any responsibility. The worst was that a few people received board games with a shipping label merely placed on the game box... :roll:

Don't own a Wii yet but I went to TRU with the sole purpose of buying a Classic Controller and 3 Wii Points for whenever I get one. The Wii Points were all sold out but to my delight, they just received a shipment of consoles so I nabbed one. I saw a bunch of Wii Fit bundles but most people on line were buying 3 at a time. I passed since I have no interest in the game.

The most disconcerting thing is that these 2 middle-aged men were grabbing 6 altogether. One guy was saying how they would only make $20 each after shipping but the other guy was like, "$20 is still $20." I wanted to give them a face_plain but one of them let me cut in line so I can get my hands on a Wii console so I was grateful.

While I'm no authority on the subject, if it's anything like other TRU bundles, you have to buy a couple of stupid games to get the deal, and/or get a few useless accessories.

Now you could always return them and recoup the difference, but at that point you end up only saving a marginal cost on the hardware itself.

In other words, it's most likely not worth it, especially if you are one of those people worried about BC and other such things (though at this point I can't imagine why anyone would be).

But someone should look into this and give you a more direct answer.

For what its worth - I went to my local TRU and bought 3 random games, and asked the woman if there were any issues with regard to exchanges. She specifically said "No, so make sure you stock up if there are games coming out before xmas that you want, and come back and exchange, as long as they are unopened and you have the receipt". I then double checked with the actual cashier, asking if it mattered which was marked as free on the receipt, and he said no. Then when i got out to the car, i noticed that the game i specificalyl wanted to be a placeholder was marked as the free one, so I called (when i got home) and asked if it mattered, and the woman said no, but that the only possible issue would be that they would have to charge me 1cent to do an exchange.

So there you go, YMMV, but it appears you could in theory buy any 3 games today (this week) and exchange all of them for ones you want before Dec 5th (I believe) and be fine. It appears the only rule that applies is that an exchange of equal value is only allowed on any of the games purchased within the b2g1 deal.

For what its worth - I went to my local TRU and bought 3 random games, and asked the woman if there were any issues with regard to exchanges. She specifically said "No, so make sure you stock up if there are games coming out before xmas that you want, and come back and exchange, as long as they are unopened and you have the receipt". I then double checked with the actual cashier, asking if it mattered which was marked as free on the receipt, and he said no. Then when i got out to the car, i noticed that the game i specificalyl wanted to be a placeholder was marked as the free one, so I called (when i got home) and asked if it mattered, and the woman said no, but that the only possible issue would be that they would have to charge me 1cent to do an exchange.

So there you go, YMMV, but it appears you could in theory buy any 3 games today (this week) and exchange all of them for ones you want before Dec 5th (I believe) and be fine. It appears the only rule that applies is that an exchange of equal value is only allowed on any of the games purchased within the b2g1 deal.


I would grab the name of all the people you talked to on this and when you try to return the games in person and they try to deny you, bring up their names and say that "this person said I could do it" etc etc.

I went in today and grabbed Rock Band 2, Pure, and Star Wars Unleashed. Tried to return Pure and Star Wars to walmart but they would only let me exchange on the spot so i exchanged for Silent Hill and another Rock Band 2. Also grabbed 3 Perfect Dark Zero collectors editions for $5 a piece(3 for $10 due to sale). Also picked up 2 Guitar Hero 3's for pc at $9.xx a piece. I'm hoping to take the 2 games back to walmart with my exchange receipt and get the rock band 2 drums and some ms points.

then, when I asked the lady, she replied "Oh well wii point cards aren't accessories anyway"

So I just gave her the dirtiest look I could give, then asked for a copy of the ad.

I just stomped out in rage. Then went to wal-mart to find out that they don't match promotions... as said above.

Unfortunately, I've basically demolished all the older goodies from the clearance bin, but I did make a few good scores... for whatever reason they dropped basically ALL of their clearance games to 5 bucks each, so the games I was sizing up last week for $10.00 were now 5.00. I was able to get DDR Universe, Virtua Tennis 3, and The Godfather; Collector's Edition for $10.00

Was like the 4th person at my local TrU. It was shockingly well stocked compared to past runs. One nice couple was buying a Wii for their grandkids (I assume) and picked up a few games... one guy seemed to be big into games... and the other guy was a massive Ebay hoarder, with 6 copies of Wii Play, 9 Carnival Games, 6 Mario Karts, 6 We Skis, etc, etc... was pretty disgusting.

They seemed absolutely baffled by the promotion (Trying to say you only got 40% off Wii accessories when you buy a system) so I didn't even bother asking about placeholder games, figuring I wouldn't get an answer I'd want (plus I really can't think of 3 $60 games I want right now... too much of a cheapass!)

I had to jump in while he was making the poor CSR empty the shelves into his cart to ask about Wii Points cards, he said they didn't have any (and I didn't even see an empty shelf tag or anything).

Bummer. I don't NEED points (Which is why I didn't buy 3 cards overnight when the sale went live) although I wish I could have found some. I didn't buy last night since I knew I'd be going first thing this morning and I'd be pissed if I wasted shipping money. Was tempted to go to another TRU about 10 miles away but figured it wasn't worth the gas. I'll keep an eye online today and see if they come back in stock (at least the old TRU store had stuff going in and out of stock randomly all the time) , maybe.
