I visited three stores in Philadelphia and all had crappy selections of games, X360 or DS. None had Bleach DS 2 so I bought it online and was forced to register to get Kirby Super Star Ultra with free shipping (no way I would pay $4.84 shipping). Too bad Final Fantasy IV is not $30 online as well or else I would've gotten that.

In response to a previous post about Saint's Row 2 - one store had it for PS3 but not X360.

Also, the girl working the register was more than happy to give me a gift receipt for any of the games I wanted. I plan to return Saints Row 2 next week.

Just got back from the Bloomington, MN store. They did not have Dead Space. There were two guys there and they said they would not get it until Monday.

They did have SOCOM(with headset). So, I got that, Saints Row 2 and Pure, both for Xbox 360.

Saints Row 2 is the only game I really wanted. I wanted Pure, but was going to wait until it was $20-30. SOCOM I mainly wanted for the headset. So, I look at it that I got Saints Row 2 at $60 and the other two games for $30 each. :)

So i go to my TRU yesterday just to stop by and see what's up, I called 5 times during the day and asked if the had received fifa 09 360, all 5 times they said no. I go in and just so happens this guy can find only 2 games out of three. So for poops and giggles I asked if they had fifa 09 in stock....he checks the front display...nothing. He then hops in the back and a second later pops out with a fifa 09. So long story long. I combined my offer with the guy with 2 games, and got fifa 09 for 45 inc. tax, Sorry for the story. sooo stopped by toysrus today cause they said they had deadspace/socom for ps3 on the phone but when i drove out of my way over. I found out they only had deadspace for xbox360(angry). So i just picked up saint rows 2 / socom (headset) / uncharted(they said i could exchange it whenever they get the ps3 deadspace)also with gift reciept for backup..

Yea, I just got back from Toysrus in Times Square myself. Picked up Dead Space (PS3), Saints Row 2 (360), and Star Wars:TFU (360).

Wanted the 360 Dead Space but was told that they only got the PS3 versions in today and there was only 2 left on the rack so went with it. Almost fell over when the price came out to 68.99 though.

They do it at the NY White Plains location opened. Though less and less than when they first started carrying next generation games. When the 360 came out all the games were 64.99! I complained about it but they said there was nothing they would do about it.

They don't have Dead Space there yet though. Hopefully tomorrow, but if they charge more for it, I am gonna return my 2 placeholders for gift card $ for my kid for the holidays. Not my original intention. was gonna return them for other games in the next weeks like most the rest of us.

Picked up 2 Saint Rows 2 and Brothers in Arms on Tuesday. Went back today when I saw that TRU was getting Dead Space in. They had it in the back and was still inside the DHL bubble packaging. I think it all depends on the person behind the CS counter or the Manager. Some will say the sales is over and you only get the price of 2 games back. I think the best bet is to get itemized gift receipts and just exchange them that way.

Two of the toys r us in toledo ohio have dead space in, they unboxed them around 2pm today.

Some also have multiple SOCOM bundles, and some have the non bundle, just depends on what you want.

One TRU told me that all 3 games were exchangeable, which doesn't make sense in the system. He must be new.

In years past, I've sucessfully exchanged the free game before. It is a lot of a hassle because it is $0. A ton of hassle and arguing.

As has been mentioned many times in this thread, Infinite Undiscovery rings up as a $60 game with a $20 discount. It counts as a $60 game, so, if you get it, make sure it is not rung up last, or it will be the free one, and you'll have to pay more.

I haven't decided yet if I will take part in this deal just because it will require me to miss some class to make the drive at least twice if I want Fable 2 and Fallout 3. Once to get the placeholders and once to pick up the real games I want.

The reason I'm posting is to call attention to the Fallout 3 CE preorder group thread (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=200310). I don't know if you were considering the CE (when split three ways, it comes to about $58 each after tax, give or take), but if you were, it'd save you the drive.

Edit: Another option would be the Live Search eBay 30% cashback route for those games, which would come out to about the same as b2g1, maybe even cheaper. It may be the best option for the geographically challenged. Making that long a drive, twice, doesn't seem like it'd be very cost-effective.

I told him that two were for my brothers so how would they handle any returns and he eventually said the best bet is to just include the receipt which he wrote "PM for TRU B2G1 Sale". So I'm debating on returning Pure without a receipt for exchange or just taking the two in for exchange at the same time with the receipt.

Either way, I'm happy they did it, the only caveat was that the guy had to call TRU to make sure they had the games in stock before he would PM them.

So I got my Saints Row 2, SOCOM, and Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway as a placeholder yesterday since Dead Space wasn't there yet. The kid that helped me said he couldn't tell when it was coming but to come back within 45 days with my receipt and the game I wanted to exchange for it.

I checked today just in case and sure enough, there was Dead Space. I had Brothers in Arms with me and my receipt just like he said and proceeded to make my exchange. The sales girl had trouble making it go through and the manager came to check it out. It got through eventually but the manager got mad at me and said I should have brought all 3 games back to make it easier on her associate....

I told her that yesterday her employee had told me to just bring back the one game. Her response: "Well, he doesn't know what he's talking about. You should have brought all three to make it easier on her." (the sales associate)

I wanted to say, "It's not my fault your employees incorrectly tell me how to come back for the exchange." Instead, I walked out of the store with a kind, "Oh it's ok, thank you!" and a grin on my face and Dead Space in my hand. Thanks CAG!

Both of them very clearly state that the competitor has to have the item in-stock, according to the policy.

In practice, it's up to the BB or CC store to call the competitor in question and check to see if it's in-stock. Depends on the store's due diligence to do that or not, and if they do, and the competitor doesn't have it in-stock, you don't get the PM or the PM + 10% add'l.

Well, I was originally in with a group doing the F3 CE preorder deal. However, 2/3 of them backed out and I'm still debating on the game really myself. I may just pick up Smackdown vs Raw 2009 instead. A friend of mine got to play it and said it was along the lines of Oblivion with guns and new tech, and I'm not a big fan of Oblivion anyway.

As for the Live Search, I don't want to pre-order any games from ebay again. I've never had a good experience with that route. Twice I got my money back from the person not being able to deliver on his sales and once I got the game two weeks later than I could have walked into my local Walmart and picked it off the shelves myself. If I wind up not getting to go to a TRU before this sale ends, I'll probably use the Live Search option though. A sale with free shipping would be just as price effective as me driving to TRU for the b2g1 sale.

I need to look into the Live Search thread and read all the fine print tho.

Were you trying to return them for store credit or exchanging it for another game of equal value? They should let you do an "exchange" just fine. Returning for store credit is another matter as there is a loophole that I will not go into.

I don't know about that. I think it also depends on the person behind the counter. I bought 2 Saints Row 2 so I had no idea which gift receipt was the freebie. So I bought one of the SR2 back today for Dead Space. I looked at the receipt and it showed

Just spoke with the customer service manager at the toys R us at Deptford, NJ.

I asked her if can I exchange (Not return) the titles i purchased within the 45 day window even if the game is showing 0.00 on my receipt.

She said absolutely yes. You can return any game as long as the game is not opened and you have your receipt no matter what the value is listen on the receipt.

I know this is still YMMV but atleast I can cofirm the deptford NJ location will return no matter which one is listed as free.

I swapped out Star Wars Force Unleashed for Dead Space for ps3 since thats all they had. LIC TRU had a couple of copies of Dead Space for ps3 only, 360 sold out early in the day. They didnt have any copies of Socom. They had a couple of copies of SR2 for both systems. They didn't have 2k9.

My haul so far is Dead Space(PS3), SR (360) and Rock Band 2 (360) as my free game. I also spoke to the manager of the store, who has a pretty cool guy and he said that I could bring back any game as long as it wasnt the free one within the 45 day exchange period for any game they had in stock.

I also tried the Maspeth TRU on Metropolitan Ave in Queens and they had nothing. The only thing of note was SR2 for the PS3, no 360 copies, no 2k9, no dead space, nor socom. The place looked cleaned out.

Also, as an aside, at the LIC TRU, I picked up the Silver Surfer, Galactus and Human Torch muggs!

Nah, games are unique to stores unless the store puts their own barcode on them, which rarely happens for games.

it's my understanding from similar deals at my store (Wolf Camera) and personal experience that if you return the two games and keep the free one they take the price of the free game off your refund. They do the same thing with the 'free gift cards' and such.

I'm pretty sure you can't exchange online purchases in store. It's part of the "no return to store" policy you'll see when you buy online.

Infinite Undiscovery counts as a $59.99 game even though TRU is currently running a sale on it. When scanned through the system it actually says $59.99 - 20.00. Doing this, you can walk out with 3 $60 games for only $100 + some tax.


This might be YMMV, or they're starting to fix it. My friend tried doing this in Somerville, NJ, and it definitely didn't work. It's possible the scanning order may still be a factor.

He bought Dead Space, TFU, and Infinite Undiscovery. Total was $119.98 before tax.

This might be YMMV, or they're starting to fix it. My friend tried doing this in Somerville, NJ, and it definitely didn't work. It's possible the scanning order may still be a factor.

He bought Dead Space, TFU, and Infinite Undiscovery. Total was $119.98 before tax.

Infinite Undiscovery has to be scanned first or second, it cannot be the free game for the discount to show up. I bought a set earlier today and it worked fine.

Also, I've tried the space holder at Toys R' Us on previous B2G1 Free deals and they divide the total spent by 3. So if you pick up 3 $60 games for $120. When you go to return they will give you $40 for each game returned.... It may be different in other areas, but that's how it worked here. Maybe they changed their policy since.

Yes, you would have to repurchase. The free game would have to be adjusted manually so there is no way they would give you a $50 game free.

As I'm about to leave cause I've gotta get across town. MiserMike was it a Babysrus/Toysrus combo? If so they have a different set of return policy's from my understanding. I believe its cause of baby showers where people purchase things months in advance. My receipts are 90 days for all merchandise other than Movies and Electronics which has the standard return policy of 45 days.

I did this today I exchanged NBA 2k9 for a 12 month subscription to xbox live gold. NBA was 59.99 and live was 49.99. When I traded in NBA they just gave me 63 dollars in cash, you used that cash for the cheaper game and you keep the difference.

It depends on your store. All stores handle the situation differently depending on who is helping you.

I'm a little tired, but I think mathematically, this works. If one keeps the free game and gets money back, one could hypothetically use that money toward the purchase of whatever TRU don't have in stock yet and go around the receipt loophole without any additional cost.

I was going to get Saints Row 2, Fallout 3, and was having a hard time picking a third. The game I wanted was Tales of Verperia. Also thinking of tiger 09 or uncharted. Any suggestions? If I get them online could I go to the store and exchange a game? Also if we order Fallout 3 are really going to get it or will the order be for the game be voided or something? The only way to justify shipping costs so you don't kill yourself over them is to understand that handling costs are wrapped in there. That cost covers materials, infrastructure, and postage/shipping fees. They may be marking it up a bit but they see it as the convenience cost since you don't have to drive to the store to pick it up (even if that is your preference.)
