I mixed on the new movie too.
This new guy hasn't proven himself to truly fill Brosman's shoes yet.
I guess a 3rd movie will have to convince me otherwise.

Craig's redefined Bond. Obviously, one movie does not make his Bond legacy, but I thoroughly enjoy what he's brought to the Bond character thus far.

Criag looks way too old, even Brosnan looks better 15 years older, it's really disturbing.
And the theme is terrible.

Yea Goldeneye was OK, Tomorrow Never Dies was a lot better and allowed Broseman to be Bond. Who knows, this might be the movie that shows how Craig can be the new bond. I think this Bond is too cocky. IMHO they should have just continued on with having the new agent called James Bond 007 instead of a reboot with the same characters (M) from the last few movies in a modern world.

I love the song, I love the Sony ad, I'm so psyched about this movie I can't wait. I'm seeing this on opening night -- something I've never planned to do for a movie.
Up until Casino Royale, Goldfinger was my favorite Bond movie... Casino Royale blew it away, and this is definitely looking to top that in every way. It's going to be awesome.

I agree... i loved Connery, Moore was ok, and Dalton was ok. Golden Eye was ok, but overall I despised Pierce Brosan as a pretty boy, fancy froo froo shit, stupid gadgets (invisible car) Bond.
I'm really liking the intense Craig version, who could tear up the Pierce Brosan Bond within seconds.

These new movies aren't even bond movies anymore. Bond movies are supposed to have gadgets and be cheesy fun action movies.

In the beginning I didn't like YKMN but it grew on me. It pisses me off that this was NOT included in the original soundtrack score to CR...why this happened is beyond me but I had to wait til the DVD release to extract a "Clean" copy of the music because the I tunes one was different and the Youtube version was shit. Glad that the title music IS on the cd for the new movie.

I do miss the gadgets and things, they've made bond more of a straight action hero now. Why they couldn't at least give him some practical gadgets i don't know.

There are gadgets and things, but they are more useful this time then the ooo ahhh types from the last bond movies.

Are you kidding? GoldenEye was the best Brosnan Bond film.
Brosnan hated that movie. But for legit reasons I guess, like why would a satellite be controlled by some giant keycard with a green ball on it instead of traditional keys and/or input codes. I think Brosnan's complaints about where the franchise was headed was solved in Casino Royale by the total reboot to turn the series into a representation of a world of espionage closer to reality but with just a dash of secret organizations and villains with odd characteristics while still remaining realistic.
"The only thing I liked about GE was that chick with the killer thighs."
She was fucking awesome in that. Part crazy psycho, part pouty whenever Bond got the upper hand, like before he judo chopped her in the car.

I gotta ask, do people really hate Dalton that bad? I thought he was great as Bond but whenever I have conversations about it people almost always put Roger Moore above Dalton. One movie he was too serious (understandable given the most surprising twist since OHMSS) but he balanced out seriousness with the humor people expected in the next movie. I'd say he's the 3rd best Bond behind Connery and Craig respectively. Above Brosnan...yeah, I said it.

The Bond series doesn't have a "True" beginning. You could just pick any movie from the series and enjoy it. It all depends on who you like to play the character as many will point out, Sean Connery IS BOND.

Bond movies aren't really sequels in the traditional sense, there isn't too much continuity, you can start anywhere and not be lost. I think Casino Royale's as fine a place as any to start, though it may be fun to start with Dr. No (the first Bond film) and just work your way forward chronologically. Though that's about 40 hours worth of movie to watch...

Hmm... I can't say it's the BEST opening song.
I am mixed between Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough :|
All of them have very cool visuals though and it's very hard to pick which opening has the best visuals.

Well, in case it needs saying, you should start with Casino Royale. Though if you like it, the bar for other Bond films will have been raised too high, and you might find yourself not liking any of them :)

Because I have Casino Royale still sealed on DVDI wouldn't start with Casino Royale. It's a bigger departure from the other Bond movies that should you go back and watch the older ones, you might get bored. CR caters far more to today's movie crowd that needs explosions and car chases and spectacular oohs and aaahs every five minutes (save for the interminable casino scene). Plus, I don't think you'd get an appreciation of the change in pace that CR brings by going back to the older movies after having seen it.

Ugh. SO bad. Easily the worst Bond movie ever.I did like the beginning (not the intro, but the set up of the movie) in that it started to mimic a much more serious and emotionally gripping Bond that was fully fleshed out in CR. Those two movies are the only two Bonds that I can recall Bond being in really dire straits.

Follow these easy instructions:
1) Start with "Dr. NO"
2) Then go to "from russia with Love"
3) Watch "gold finger"
Then watch whatever you want. Watch those because Connery established the series.

I don't care too much for the new theme song after my first listen, although I think it's something that will grow on me.
Besides, they'll be using the song after the intro scene like nearly every Bond movie in the past (if not every Bond movie). Odds are that after whatever kick-ass scene they have before it they could use the theme song from Sesame Street as the title music and it'd get the job done and suck the audience in even further.

Oh man, I love Daniel Craig as Bond. I, for one, am pleased with the new direction Casino Royale started to take, they're more in tune with the tone of the books. A lot of people seem to forget there were books at all. And it's a good place to start as it's the first book in the series, and shows Bond's beginnings.

Actually, the movie Casino Royale is insanely accurate to the book. A couple things were tweaked to appeal to a modern audience (like Chemin de Fer changed to Texas Hold 'Em, the parkour scene, etc.) but it's pretty much the purest James Bond outing. I remember watching it saying to myself "There's no way the testicle torture scene made it into the movie." Boy was I wrong.

There are four whole action scenes, none of which is a car chase, spread out over a two and a half hour movie.

CR is much faster paced and higher highs than the older Bond movies. Just tha parcour montage alone is about as intense as any Bond moment (not to mention the bottomless chair).

I'm glad for the new Bond's. I grew up watching the Moore movies with my parents taking me when I was young. Then when we got a VCR I eventually started seeing the Connery ones. AFter the first one or two Brosnan versions I just couldn't take it's absurd over the top moments. They just went too far. I forced myself to watch his last three on DVD.
CR changed that and brought back my love for it. I had my girlfriend watch it the other night as she never saw a Bond movie ever. She's now hooked and is looking forward to the next one after seeing the previews.
Course, I'm not a fan of the last song. I've only heard it twice for each time I've seen CR but it just didn't fit for me.

Daniel Craig is an awesome Bond. Casino Royale was just what the series needed, a much different take on the material than the previous decade or so Bond flicks. Sean Connery will always be the best Bond but I think Craig is already the second best. While I'm at it here are my favorite Bond movies in order:
1)Goldfinger
2)Goldeneye
3)From Russia with Love
4)Casino Royale
5)Thunderball
6)The Living Daylights
7)Dr. No
8)The Man With The Golden Gun
9)The Spy Who Loved Me
10)oops I forgot about On Her Majesty's Secret Service..... so that goes here I guess
