:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Someone please help me. I just found out that my Sega NOMAD does not work! It has been years since I've powered it up. The last time I even saw it running was when I lent it to a friend. As I mentioned in another thread, this friend gave it back to me with a cracked screen (not the LCD) but the system still worked.I tried to open the Nomad up to see if I could "repair" whatever is wrong with it but there is this strange "bolt" in the center that keeps the case closed. Does anyone know how to get that thing off?

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

I can only hope this (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29219) will bring you joy in your time of solace.

Hmmm... False alarm? For some reason, my Nomad sprang back to life. I think the battery pack I tried to use forced it to slumber. Hmm...

I want a Nomad sooo bad. I'm still kicking myself for not getting one when they were readily available at TRU's. and, a year or so ago, a mint nomad, with the sought after Nyko rechargeable batery pack, came intoa local shop, but I did not have the 80 asking price.

I've watched two, count 'em two, great condition Nomads come through my store. But we don't take them in trade, so of course my manager would offer whomever $10 out the door, and bam, Nomad get. Too bad I'm not allowed to do that. :evil:

Fuck that, do it anyway. You can always find another job, right?

Battery powered devices that go for very long periods without use are best stored without the batteries in place. Aging batteries can do nasty things and are best kept away from the device lest they do their nasty things inside of it.

My nomad has a cracked LCD... I've been looking for ages for a replacement but I can never seem to find one. SEGA used to repair them themselves for $50 but that was years ago.

Its called a security screw or something, you need a certain screwdriver to get it off, though I got it off without one.

When my gamegear broke I came up with a MacGyver style solution.

All I had was the nonworking game gear, a bunch of games, and a desk callendar.

I determined that the problem was corroded contact points, but I had no way to clean them. So I tore off todays cartoon (Far Side callendar), folded it 4 times, and slid it in the slot along with a game. the extra 2mm behind the cartrige put enough pressure on the corroded contact points allow for electricity to flow and the circuit to be completed.

MacGuyver is my idol and whenever I get in a tough spot I just think "what would MacGuyver do?"
