I don't know about you guys/gals but does any one get really thirsty at times? Maybe 1-2 times a week in the middle of me sleeping I get this feeling that I'm really thirsty and I end up drinking a gallon of juice(I try to not drink soda at this point) or what ever is in my cheapass fridge. I thought about asking a doctor but I would rather ask some1 who hasnt seen my face...........wait a sec DON'T LOOK AT MY AVATAR! DON'T LOOK AT ME! No really is this worth asking a doctor or is this normal?

Sometimes, I can get really thirsty. At lunch or dinner, I can sometimes drink half a gallon of water. My mouth gets dry easily so I try to drink at least every couple of hours or so.

In general you need to consume more water. When you are thirsty your body is already in need of water. Do you consume 8 glasses of water a day?

I've gotten thirsty enough to cug a half gallon of milk (when i still drank milk), or down a 2 liter of soda in a few minutes. I'm actually thirsty now.

For me, it's normal. I get up at least once a night to get a drink of water.

your urine should be clear and 'not smelly' that is the best indicator of hydration. If your urine is clear and doesn't smell and you are stilll that thirsty something is wrong.

It's the worst when I'm at work. I run over to the fountain every couple of minutes.

One thing to watch for is if you also urinate when drinking often. This can be an indicator of diabetes. But of course consult a doctor and don't jump to conclusions; dehydration is probably a more plausable cause if there is any.

good idea to watch superman.
that being said, in my experience dehydration is such a common thing, witnessed as a athletic coach, EMT, and social worker.
ALL Cheapassgamers.. remember to drink a glass of water every hour!

Ever since I started to drink 1+ gallons of water a day, that doesnt happen to me anymore. It takes a few days to get dehydrated, so you may not be drinking enough water a couple of days before.

Being thirsty is the first step of dehydration, so try to drink enough to not be thirsty. For awhile I was drinking bout 120 oz of water a day which is a pretty good amount I think, needless to say I was never thirsty, I was super unthirsty.

Ever since I started drinking 4-5 24 oz water bottles a day, I've never been "thirsty". At least, thirsty enough that I MUST get some water.

Yeah the problem for a lot of people is that they get thirsty and drink soda or tea or coffee, stuff that actually dehydrates you further because of it's diuretic effect. You've got to hit the cold, fresh water tip on the regular. Especially during the hot ass summer.

Holy crap, you're supposed to drink 8 cups, not 8 lbs!

well with water you have no aftertaste like with a sweet aftertaste of pepsi, so you think you need more water to get that thirst quenched because the deration of taste left in your mouth.......just like eating a candy bar...once the chocolate taste is gone u want anouther piece.....but on the otherhand i could be totally wrong, just a idea i had reading through the posts

This reminds me of that seen from White Men Can't Jump in which Gloria (Rosie Perez) says she's thirsty, but gets mad when Billy (Woody!) brings her a glass of water.

Did you actually do the math for that? Just wondering because 8 lbs. of water is 123.18 oz (roughly) and it would be very strange if you just threw that number out there.

Yeah, I did the math. 16 oz = 1 lb. I wasn't as thorough as you though.

Well, sometimes I go a bit overboard and I just have to know something exactly.

I heard half of your body weight in oz of clear liquid
So 250 pound person = 125 oz of clear liquid

It is odd that you ask if I threw out 8 though. In my experience, when people throw out a random number, it always involves an 8. 80, 8000, it always has an 8. Listen for it, I love pointing it out when it happens.

I was eating assloads of protein for working out, trying to intake almost 200g a day, and that will kill your kidneys if you dont get enough water, but the amount of water i drank was seriously a job.

I'll do that. Never noticed it myself, but if I had to guess why I'd say that they think of a number, lets say 40, and then they think, well that's not very random. So they subtract a couple and go with that.
