...Huh. I might actually buy this. They're not pulling a fast one on me are they? Is the game's MSRP now 19.99?

Would buy just because its Atlus (plus its an actually good game for those brave enough to take its abuse) but Dead Space is right around the corner & money is tight for the following couple of months :(

I'm just gonna use this Gamestop 20% off used coupon and snag it then. It'd be a pretty decent price.

Love this game, but haven't touched it much in a while because I honestly can't figure out what to do to progress, and I don't want to look at spoilers.

In my humble opinion ... this game isn't worth $17 ... Granted, I gave it a few hours of play and didn't beat it or anything, but the graphics were awful, the play mechanics felt like they were circa PS1 and the only thing I could really see going for it was the theme and overall presentation was somewhat intriguing. But hey, if you love it, then more power to you.

yea, I owned this for a while and ended up trading it in.... I think it released at a 30 dollar price point but 19.99 is still too high. It's enjoyable, but IMO worth about 10 bucks max

If they don't stop with those deals I'm going to go "baroque". Get it? Get it? It's a pun.

Yep, definitely going to wait for a sub-$10 price on this one. The game is actually quite terrible, and I won't lose any sleep over it if I never add it to my collection.

I liked this game. Love the story/atmosphere. Graphics/animations needed work. Game play was fine for a roguelike.

This is why an Atlus title has to have awesome preorder bonuses now to be a day one purchase. Tons of Atlus DotDs since they teamed with Amazon.

Why would you pay any amount of money for a game you thought was terrible?

Kind of tempting, but I think I'll wait and see if this goes below $10.

A great game - not everyone's cup of tea but whatever. It's a Roguelike, so you're going to have to go through multiple play-throughs to progress the game. Very emmersive.

Is it just me or do most non-SMT/Persona games from Atlus suck?

I agree but the reviews don't seem that bad. This game is not for everyone. I'll wait for the next circuit city clearance.

I can understand the complete polarization on this game. I am not usually a fan of roguelikes, but I am in the camp of those who thought this game was absolutely fantastic.

The graphics are obviously not PS3-grade, but there have been games since pre-Atari days that were able to create atmosphere with limited graphics and this game succeeds for me in that area. The entire experience is like reading a Borges story adapted by David Lynch. Yes, there are periods of time when you have no idea what to do or what is happening. But when you figure out it out, the reward is much greater than in most games where the "puzzles" are fairly straightforward and the game path is predictable.

I'd say $17 with Prime or 20% off used at Gamestop is the right price for this game. It probably won't really go lower for a while since not many Wii games retail for less than $20 right now.

thats because most of those games are not made by Atlus. Atlus is only the publisher.

Not available online? Well crap.

EDIT: Whoops, posted in the wrong thread (this was meant to go into the Etrian Odyssey 2 $20 at EBGames).

Like I said, only to add it to my collection. I'm weird like that.

Highly recommended at this price if you like Diablo, Nethack, ADOM, other games with hardcore death penalties. I'd assume the PS2 version is easier to control.

Although this was the best game I've bought this year, after about 30 hrs I felt like I wasn't progressing anymore storyline. If you buy this, prepare to spend many hours wondering if you're doing the right thing. I hit a wall when, after collecting gold bones from the old woman on level 7 in order to get boxes out of the dungeon, it didn't seem to unlock anymore.

This game sucks. A Post apocalyptic world where your a kid who cant remember anything. A guy walks up to you and tells you your the reason why the world is like this.
I wanted to like the game, but after beating it it just didnt tie anything of the story together.
I would pass on the game, unless your an atlus collecting fan.

Jesus, I guess McCain is right, his opponent has reached celebrity status. Baroque Obama, now with his own game. What, do you wiggle the Wii stick to wave your finger to special interest groups? heh.

Ummm ... okay. I like Obama but I'm not so sure that sarcasm works there.

Anyways, back on topic, I've been curious about this game but again, more as a collector. Might pick it up ...

It's a decent rougelike, so if you're a masochist this is the kind of game for you.

I think most of the people who just played it, got pissed that the game doesn't hold their hand like they are used to with all the other mindless games on the market, and labeled it as suck doesn't really understand what this game is actually about.

This game CANNOT be completed in one playthrough. It requires you to think and understand on your own, and through multiple playthroughs in which I won't spoil why...you will start to understand a lot of things and eventually it will all make sense.

I bought it at 40 dollars and content with my purchase. 20 is a steal for this rather unusual game.

Seeing as how Atlus no longer prints games in small runs, I'm going to pass. This will end up in the $10 bin sooner or later.

I have both Wii and PS2 and are debating on which version to pick up (if at all). Any insights?

I know the Wii version is 480p widescreen enhanced, and is controllable using the classic controller. Any advantage in the PS2 version?

Did Atlus under produce the PS2 version or something. The Wii version sold more than the PS2 version (looking at their sale ranks) and yet the PS2 version is sold out. Same thing at GS where the PS2 version is no longer available.

I think I'll pass on this deal since it's only $3 cheaper than the GS' $20 price. I was just considering adding it to my collection more than playing it. Yeah. I have a tendency to collect Atlus crap games. I'm weird.

I would play it eventually but considering I can't find a filler and the bad reviews I'll wait since I doubt it'll be hard to find for cheap again in the near future.

Crap. It looks like EB/GS.com has sold out of the Wii version now. You get this message when you try to check out:

The quantity requested exceeds available inventory. You will be shipped a portion of your order now and the balance if more product becomes available.

...even when you only have 1 copy in your cart.

The PS2 and Wii version (new copy) might still be available in the stores but I don't want to deal with their gutted copy anyway.

This is quite the mystery and a decent dungeon. This game tears you three different decision-making directions as you start to figure it out - uncommon in most games.

My fiancee wanted a copy, so I snagged one used from GS a month or so back w/ the 20% off cellphone coupon - still came to about $17 if I remember. I expected her to hate it & I'd just return it, but she really seems to enjoy it. Just watching her play was more than enough for me, but I can see the appeal if you have the patience for it.
