why is it every once in a while when i cut my ps3 on it it says rebuilding the hard drive database

According to other posters on CAG, the PS3 is basically defragging the hard drive. No biggie :)

No need to be a dick JMEPO, the guy was just asking a question. You could have SIMPLY placed a link to the FAQ, and told him to look there. Has the OTT rubbed off on yeh?
