Just finished it on Mild today. I think its not as insane as the first one, perhaps because the first was all new and now we already have expectations for the second. However, I enjoyed every second of it (even the strength mini games - I lost more times on the 2 star game than on the last strength game).
If NMH 1 & 2 gets ported to 360 then I'll be playing it again, otherwise, I don't think I'm going to do a second playthrough.

Only a few hours into the game, but I miss driving the motorcycle(not so much the overworld).

And I actually think I find the side jobs from the first game more enjoyable. Still, really great so far. Haaate the strength/stamina minigames though.

The stamina minigames were really easy, I thought. I failed the first one a couple times because I didn't realize you could change directions, but after that I didn't fail any of them. I never got past the 2nd or 3rd strength minigame though.

The last strength mini-game is insane. It makes the previous ones look like mere child's play.

I finished up the shinobu section...

got damn I am amazed they managed to make jumping sections that are worse than xenogears

So can you only earn money by doing side jobs? Or are there assassination contracts later on? I really hope there are.

You get money by doing side jobs, enemies dropping it in levels/revenge missions and chests.

Yeah, Shinobu's jumping sections are horrible. Plus, the lack or a manual camera control means it's a lot hard to line up some of the jumps.

Also, i didn't realize if you hold A, you can start running around like a crackhead with her. And if you hold it long enough, you can either do a running slash or a double Sonic Sword.

Beat it earlier today, really good game. Not a big improvement over the first other than the change in the overworld, but I didn't really expect anything dramatically different.

I really didn't have any of the trouble I've seen discussed with any of the bosses until the last. I think I died once at a couple bosses on Sweet, but generally figured it out before getting wasted.

There are no more assassination missions. Except for 10 revenge missions, which are optional, there is no fighting outside of the main story.

They cut a lot of stuff out of this game.

Alrighty then, I just have to know, How the EFF did you beat the last boss? I get to the point where he's buff and tries to give me a bear hug, but then I get him down to about half health and he teleports and kicks my ass out the window. Were you just lucky as hell to dodge the teleports or what?

Stay as far away from the window as possible. Hang around the entrance so that if he hits you it won't send you out the window.

That doesn't really help out for the last part of the fight when he decides to spam you over and over again

That sequence is primarily luck in terms of the frequency of teleport punches and cyclone punches. If you get stuck in that mess, you're better off just staying on the ground so at least you don't fly across the room/out the window while getting mauled. Eventually he'll stop and you can get back to it.

Using the $300k sword helps a ton in that fight. It deals one point of damage per hit, stuns him often, and the more he's stunned, the more you can build up your ecstasy meter, which extends the range of the sword.

No assassination missions really sucks. :[

Yup. All the stuff they took out really disappointed me - even to the point of wanting to trade the game in, and I never trade in my games.

Here is a comparison list of both game's content I drew up for something I'm writing.

No More Heroes
- 10 Bosses (1 optional)
- 09 Jobs
- 20 Assassination jobs
- 10 Free Fight missions
- 89 hidden t-shirts
- 49 hidden lovikov balls
- 04 weapons
- 07 weapon upgrades

No More Heroes 2
- 15 Bosses (1 optional)
- 08 jobs
- 10 Revenge missions (optional) (not replayable)
- 04 weapons

The only thing I really missed was the "kill as many people as possible in 5(?) minutes" mission. The revenge missions tended to satisfy the hole of the assassination jobs since there wasn't as much need for cash.

Okay, this is something I want to know. Is it just me, or does this game seem to have a fairly severe problem of jaggies? I'm curious if it's the game, or if my component cables suck.

The last Assassination mission in the first game gave you roughly $100,000 in 3 minutes.

This game just hates the idea of you getting money.

ChibiJosh
02-01-2010, 08:28 PM
In the first game, you also had to pay millions of dollars in order to progress in the game.

KingBroly
02-01-2010, 08:51 PM
True, but you rarely had to do more than 1 Assassination mission per Rank to keep going.

Doing the damn gym games enough to pass costs as much as the entry fee in the first game, especially for the later strength ones (or muscle, whatever it's called).

Just ended it on Mild.
Overall it was pretty fun, lots of laughs but not as many as the first game. The bosses and their cut scenes were fantastic though.
The camera, the cheap deaths, and all the collecting they took out makes this a rental for now.

And that final boss, just wow  Seems like I was just lucky on the second form. With the long sword (thank you for the suggestion) I was able to hit him 2-3 times after each of his attacks. But the teleporting was so cheap! I don't see how anyone can dodge all of them. And his upgraded wind/punch attack was just crazy, it knocked me down every time.
I had just one chunk of heart left and I knew I wouldn't survive another wind attack, so I just ran and swung at him and it happened to be his final hit :applause:

The Shinobu bullshit has pushed this game from "This is the sequel? Seriously?" to "Should've waited for a price drop." for me. Huge disappointment so far.

Actually she was the best part of the game for me. I had no trouble platforming - there really isn't that much platforming anyway until you fight the boss and he's so easy it doesn't matter.

Yeah, she's easily the best part of the game for me. I love the stuff she says.

Just finished the last level of the strength mini-game after three tries. Could've been worse.

I think my disappointment is magnified by all of the ways this game shoots you up in the rankings. I at least figured once I was 10 I'd be able to fight my way to 1, but no.

I was able to plow through the last 4 strength minigames today. I found out what my problem was... Nyko Wand. I've been using it since I got it a few months ago and haven't thought anything of it. But after losing the strength minigames time after time, I decided to see if the official Wiimote would be better. Beat the next 3 on my first tries, and beat the last after a handful of tries.

I'm not going to do the final Strength mini-game either, because it's just bad.

Here. :-k

There's not a count, but in the pause menu there's something with percentages relating to clothes, collectibles, and one or two other things . I'm guessing he was close enough (98% or so) to maxing it that he knew he only needed one more.

Pretty enjoyable overall. Boss battles were decently varied for a bit, but dragged later on. It was also a bit short for my tastes when I factor in how many times I did one of the mini-games + all other stuff. For the price I paid, it felt worth it, but I think I would have a short qualifier if someone asked me about paying the full $50.

I beat the game yesterday and it seems I missed 1 collectable also, probably from one of the revenge missions. I was at 97%.

Also, something that has been driving me crazy. Why is it Pizza Batt now? Unless I've been reading it wrong for 2 years, I'm pretty sure it was Pizza Butt in NHM. Which may be true, because now in NMH2, I'm subconsciously killed Jasper Butt, not Jasper Batt.

At the last boss, taking a break because he is freaking annoying. I kind of miss the banter and interactions between Travis and the Assassins in this one. In the first one they went back and forth a little bit, at least more so that this one. Also besides a few times in the beginning, you never really need to play any of the mini-games for cash.

BlueLobstah

Just finished this on mild.

I only died once on Pizza Batt from him throwing me out the window. When he was in his second form I got to the point where I would pretty much dodge endlessly until he left himself slightly open and strike using the long beam.

Overall enjoyable, but doesn't quite have the allure of the first.

Just bought the game today. Got a surprise refund check for my financial aid for my college. Wow this game price dropped pretty fast to $30. I can't wait to play later (wiimote batteries fucking died, charging now).

It's an Ubisoft published game that's why. I bought it first day since I liked the first one so much. I kind of miss the over world even though it was just a hub, going to level to level from a menu felt restricting. I was also kind of upset that there was no surprise boss or additional weapon parts like in the first game but I liked the amount of boss battles.
