Update

This will make your played league games count; You will need to have an account on the 2Ksports website in order to manage your schedule (you cannot change it directly on your 360 console) setting up an account takes about 5 minutes. You can register on the league page also, just click on the link above.

Also, in order for 2K sports to recognize the league games that you played you must choose the "send challenge" option when you are in the league lobby and are getting ready to play against an opponent. DO NOT CHOOSE the "send custom challenge" option or else your match will not count! I have no control over this....blame it on 2K sports and their crazy ways :)

This is not true flex scheduling because you can't play against anybody you want in the league at anytime. Id call it quasi flex scheduling. You have to manually add the matchup to your game Que.

Hello Everyone,

We have added an addition to the online leagues for NBA 2K9 and NHL 2K9 to allow users to emulate the revered "Flex schedule" feature. For those who do not know what "Flex Schedule" is, it basically allows any game in a league to be played in any order. This should make our played games count since they are being scheduled to be played.

The "Flex Schedule Que" addition will allow the same end result. The difference is each team has a "que" of games in which they can play. If a user wants to play a game in a different order then they simply move the game they wish to play into their "que". The limitations are each teams que can not exceed 5 games and must have at least 1 game in their que.

Commish's: To turn on "Flex Schedule Que" for your league

1. Login to 2ksports.com and goto your leagues home page.
2. Click "Admin" from your leagues menu system
3. Click "League Options"
4. You will see a button to turn on flex schedule que, click this button

Please note this feature can not be undone. So please consider carefully if you wish to enable this feature for your league

For users: If you are in a league that has "Flex Schedule Que" turned on, to manage your que is simple.

1. Login to 2ksports.com and goto your leagues home page
2. Hover over the "My Team" menu option, a drop down will appear
3. In the drop down, click "Edit schedule"

There are 2 boxes, the first box is your "Que", games you can play at any time. The second box is all other games. Simply move games in and out of your que to play them as you see fit. It is advised you edit your schedule while your and your opponents console is not online. If it is, we recommend a fresh reboot to ensure all stats record correctly.

We apologize to all our fans who have enjoyed the "Flex schedule" feature and hope this addition represents our commitment to always improving our products and our commitment to our fans and community.

1. Have a schedule generated.
2. Suppose you and another player from the league is online but you don't have a game in this weeks 5 game schedule.
3. You go to the 2k league website. community.2ksports.com (make sure your game is linked to the site, there is another thread on how to do this it's pretty easy)
4. Now both players must go to My Team->Edit Schedule
5. Then both players must remove a game from the que.
6. Then each player must add the other persons team to the Que.
7. You can play eachother.

This was tested at operationsports.com

EDIT: (not intended to be a bash on the Hornets owner) We really need a new thread so it is easier to do this. Also, not to be a dick but can you really call a team when you dont actually have the game yet? I am really fine with having the Hawks but calling a team while waiting for the TRU sale seems kinda unfair to the people who already have it and want to call the same team. Just a thought. Just seems strange that you can say, "I call the Thunder.....have no idea when I will get the game."


Also, we might want to look at all of the Madden leagues that went on this year and learn from their mistakes. None of them worked well with a full league. Maybe we should decided how many teams we are going to have and keep it small?

Well if you read my post when I picked the Hornets, I decided to get the game today with some trades at Gamestop. Reason being was the trade 2 get $10 deal with a few games I had on Goozex as I really couldn't afford buying 2 games (and getting 1 free) during the TRU sale next week. First time I won't be buying anything during that sale since 2002 (did they even have it then?)

I've bought every version of NBA2K since 2K2 so I'll definately be there for every game. I was also in the NHL 2K7 league and MLB The Show 08 league here on CAG.

I do agree with you that it looks like we may have too many teams. It probably shouldn't be more than 16.

I'd think maybe the best option would be two leagues of 10 teams each. If you did it that way, more people could have their first choice fora team and (I think) be less likely to drop out in the middle. Although that could make a championship between the two leagues difficult, if the same team won both leagues. We could also have a league of 10 Eastern Conference teams and a league of 10 Western Conference teams.

Just throwing it out there. Basically, I think it would be easier to have a couple leagues with fewer teams than one giant league.

EDIT: Oh, and I'll take the Warriors. Unless the Celtics open up.

EDIT: We need to get a handle on these teams. Both the Madden and NCAA leagues I were in didn't work because people just wouldn't play. It seems like our NHL league is working great right now and there are about 12 teams with owners that are dedicated to playing. As of now I don't see any people in here that I've had problems with in other leagues, so looks good to me and I can't wait to get started...

I say 7 minute quarters on Superstar, 32 game season. Doing the division thing would be way too hard to set up, and if there's more people to play that means more people are bound to be on at the same time so it SHOULD be easier to get some games in.

I like everything except I'd suggest expanding the regular season. We need to play more than just 4 opponents in a 20 team league. I propose this:

8 games against division (each team twice)
8 games against different divisions- 1 each against 4 teams from division X, 1 each against 4 etams from division Y

16 games total. Not too few; not too many.

I bought the game today. Playing online is so bad. Like 2k8 last year, they have a free throw issue since the first free throw is 30fps and the second one is 60fps, so you have to release it differently. At least thats how it feels to me. You also have to time your shots a little earlier because of the lag input. Oh, and no 2k cam, even though the 2k cam offline is laggy already.

Online feels so messy. I can deal with it, but still.. could've been handled better.

Yep. It was like that with 2K8 until they released a patch last year. I think they said the problem last year was that free throws were at the highest difficulty level instead of default online.

Yeah, it is like last year, but you got the explanation wrong. Let's say you're shooting two free throws. The first free throw will almost always be off because the frame rate is different from the second one. The first free throw has a frame rate of like 30fps, while the second one is at 60fps. That's the problem. You could probably match your second free throw with the guy's form, but with the first one you're better off just flicking the damn stick. =p

Yes it does. It costs $1 to receive a game and each game you request also costs points. NBA 2k9 has been traded once on there already and I'm 2nd in line to get it.

I played 4 games- Lakers/Spurs twice, Bulls/Pacers, and Bulls/Cavs. After experimenting, these sliders work best for a sim game with realistic stats when you play 8 minute quarters on All-Star difficulty.

I was always averse to playing longer quarters (did 5 on every sports game) since I want to finish at least one season and stillplay all my other 360 games. But this works best in my opinion.

So try these sliders with 8 minute quarters on All-Star, and let me know if you agree that this is the best way to play the game.

We should do custom sliders. I'm fine with 5 min quarters, but custom sliders would help A LOT. I haven't tried the ones Matt Young posted, but I've tried some others and it helps improve a few big issues like the everyone-in-the-post-can-score-easily-even-scrubs.

No crazy ass sliders. Lets have a vote or something but I an completely and utterly against being forced to use some crazy ass guys version of the NBA.

Sliders are simply to personal to use for a league. You will never get a middle ground when using sliders. In order to use them properly you (IE anyone who wanted to use them)would have to convince me (IE anyone who didnt) that you know WAY more about the NBA than 2k does.

Everyone has their own crazy ass idea of how the NBA plays and when they make sliders they tailor it to what they feel is right. Which from experience is rarely every right.

This isnt to bash anyone or anything and I hate to use this old internet cliche but seriously...its your defense not the game. This years game has a crazy ass learning curve and if you are not on the same level as the CPU it will rape you faster than you can get to the whistle around your neck.

Again I hate to use the Gamefaqs tactic of saying everyone else sucks but me, though this is one case where its all user. I hated the game when I first got it also, I thought the CPU could score whenever it wanted to and it could get any shot it wanted but after learning how to play the defense on HOF with defualt sliders I reguarly beat the CPU with very realistic stats and %.

(Expect for opposing players PG getting 10 plus ASST but thats because the game doesnt know how to score an ASST. If you pass it a big man who proceeds to do 2 fakes a crossover and then dunk it.....its not an ASST anymore.)

Ah, so you liked them? I have been interested in hearing some feedback since I love them, though they are not "my" sliders. As I mentioned before, they were copied from someone at Operation Sports. I've never been one to mess with sliders, so I wouldn't know how to make good ones, but these are great.

As for the league, the sliders I posted are indeed good, but I never expected people to have to use them. But Goodfella, do league games have the rules/quarter length/etc. already set for all games? Because we definitely need all games to be played under the same terms, whatever they may be.

After my long weekend out of town, I need practice. I've played like 5 games of 2K9 total, all against the CPU.

Currently, the quarter length is set at 7 minutes ( sim quarter length is at 6 minutes) with default sliders but I can do changes, modify them at any time.

And the first game of the league is done! Mavs over Clippers, 57-56. There was some lag throughout the game, but it was bearable. It did mess up my timing as I had a whole grip of shot clock violations, though it was partly my fault for being cruddy. Also made it hard for me to run plays, but I don't it made it hard for my opponent. For some reason my rotation was really weird and it was not even the default rotations-- it made Camby start at C rather than PF and Mobley some how was getting minutes at PG-- so I had to just do it manually, which was no biggy. It was a a good game. He led by like 7-9 pts almost the whole game, I caught up, but I don't think I was aware of the time.

I didn't like how it was on Pro. It felt like I could make any shot. I had like 3 end of the quarter buzzer beaters and a bunch of fadeaways I shouldn't have made. I'm sure my opponent felt the same way (hopefully). I felt guilty when my opponent couldn't make the FTs at the end and I made like every shot afterwards, that's why. Could we possibly bump it up to All-Star at least?

Btw, how do you upload clips to the league site?

^yeah, anything but Pro would be my preference. It just felt really easy on offense, even though our game was in the low scores (we ran offensive sets and the Mavs had like, little to no turnovers).

My rotation was a little weird too - not quite sure why. The lag was annoying, although it seemed to clear up a little bit by the end. Definitely a good game. I was terrified I was going to blow it at the end. I guess I didn't realize FT were that different online. And then I was about an inch away from fouling Baron Davis right before he hit a 3 as time expired...

Glad we bumped up the difficulty. I definitely felt a little gulty too when I threw up a couple half-assed shots as the shot clock expired that fell.

I managed to get back into it in the third though and my lead grew to 10 at the fourth quarter. Some riveting moments in the game, but the missed lay up by Nate Robinson really pissed me off. I threw the controller and the battery pack came flying off :hot:. Sorry about that BigAT :-#.

Overall, it was a great game. Too bad a rematch is only possible through the playoffs.

According to Operation Sports, if the scheduled home team doesn't issue the challenge, the league game doesn't count. :(

So has anyone else tried the sliders I posted? I've only played online once- an unranked game against FrankySox- but I hated playing it with the default sliders. So much bullshit going on. It wasn't Franky cheesing; it was just the game itself. None of the CPU guys on my team would play defense.

Don't get me wron, Franky is better than me and should have won by like 10. But I was down by 30 something at one point and only lost by 15 or so due to suddenly being able to rain down 3's in the 4th when the game decided it was tired of fucking me over and fucked Franky's D over instead to allow me to catch up somewhat.

Every time I choose the "My League" option in the menu the game game starts uploading my rosters, but once it reaches 100% the system locks up completely. Well, I told you 10 before, which is exactly one hour from now. However, I am available right now. But apparently, we aren't going to be able to play.

Every single time I attempt to enter the league lobby, it makes me download the rosters. Once it gets to 100%, the game freezes. I can't even open the guide. This happens every time. is this the problem the rest of you were having?

I haven't tried for a day or two but I was able to avoid the freezing problem by updating the rosters in a Ranked Quick Match and then canceling the Quick Match before it started. Does this work for anyone else or did I just get lucky once?

Also, I have already emailed 2K Sports about this and I would recommend everyone do so. I have never seen such a failure of a game in my entire life and they won't say a word about it.

Yeah, it's a real shame. I know they have had issues/bugs in the past with MLB and other stuf, but these NBA 2K8 issues are unacceptable.

Go to the main menu, then Options>manage rosters>download roster>official 2k roster: download roster 2008-10-6, save it then go back to the main menu and select load/save, select load, load the roster update you just downloaded (it normally shows up as "roster" on the list unless you renamed it). I just tried it out and I was able to get into the league lobby without problems.

The new one that came out last week is the one causing the freezing problems. But yeah, you have to "roll back" to the old one.

Another thing that is weird is that the game I played previously with BigAT is now gone from my record when I look at the standings on the 2K site.

Guys, please whatever you do, do not rearrange your schedule with the schedule Que option. Leave it as it is. It looks like that might be causing problems with our games not showing up on the league page or making them look like they never took place. You can play your games in any order you want since flex scheduling is enabled. I'll be looking around in the 2K boards for more information.

This is not true flex scheduling because you can't play against anybody you want in the league at anytime. Id call it quasi flex scheduling. You have to manually add the matchup to your game Que.

Hello Everyone,

We have added an addition to the online leagues for NBA 2K9 and NHL 2K9 to allow users to emulate the revered "Flex schedule" feature. For those who do not know what "Flex Schedule" is, it basically allows any game in a league to be played in any order. This should make our played games count since they are being scheduled to be played.

The "Flex Schedule Que" addition will allow the same end result. The difference is each team has a "que" of games in which they can play. If a user wants to play a game in a different order then they simply move the game they wish to play into their "que". The limitations are each teams que can not exceed 5 games and must have at least 1 game in their que.

Commish's: To turn on "Flex Schedule Que" for your league

1. Login to 2ksports.com and goto your leagues home page.
2. Click "Admin" from your leagues menu system
3. Click "League Options"
4. You will see a button to turn on flex schedule que, click this button

Please note this feature can not be undone. So please consider carefully if you wish to enable this feature for your league

For users: If you are in a league that has "Flex Schedule Que" turned on, to manage your que is simple.

1. Login to 2ksports.com and goto your leagues home page
2. Hover over the "My Team" menu option, a drop down will appear
3. In the drop down, click "Edit schedule"

There are 2 boxes, the first box is your "Que", games you can play at any time. The second box is all other games. Simply move games in and out of your que to play them as you see fit. It is advised you edit your schedule while your and your opponents console is not online. If it is, we recommend a fresh reboot to ensure all stats record correctly.

We apologize to all our fans who have enjoyed the "Flex schedule" feature and hope this addition represents our commitment to always improving our products and our commitment to our fans and community.

1. Have a schedule generated.
2. Suppose you and another player from the league is online but you don't have a game in this weeks 5 game schedule.
3. You go to the 2k league website. community.2ksports.com (make sure your game is linked to the site, there is another thread on how to do this it's pretty easy)
4. Now both players must go to My Team->Edit Schedule
5. Then both players must remove a game from the que.
6. Then each player must add the other persons team to the Que.
7. You can play eachother.

This was tested at operationsports.com


It's unfortunate that we have to do these things manually in order to get them to work. The whole purpose of a league is to keep everything automated & centalized but it looks like the only workaround until they patch things up.
