I have Windows Vista 64 am trying to run MARS ( a MIPS Assembler Simulator ) and it comes in a .jar. When I click to open it, WinRAR opens and I don't have anything useful that I can use to run this program.

Can anyone help me out?

if winrar isn't unzipping it, then try 7-zip

I think I mis-communicated my point. I can open it and browse the things, but I believe .jar files are supposed to be programs, because when I open it, there's nothing to run.

A jar is like an executable file for Java, you need to ensure that you have a Java Runtime Environment (http://java.sun.com/j2se/desktopjava/jre/) installed in order to run the jar.
