So, my ps3's blue ray laser crapped out. I found a replacement online, but after having done the replacement as directed online (very easy!) the disk loading mechanism won't work. I don't even think that power is going to the reader. I followed all the directions, no cords ripped, nothing adverse happened during the repair, AND the drive was working just fine (accepting and ejecting disks - but not reading them) prior to switching it out. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the hell is going on with this console? It was already out of warranty before i opened it...

Again, the problem is that now, after changing out the blue ray laser, the disks load mechanism won't work. The drive won't take it in. It's absolutely dead silent, except that when i start putting in the disk, the blue light comes on... again, nothing happens. I also tried pushing the eject button as shown on YouTube, but that didn't help either...

My friend had this problem and had to eventually send it to sony to get it fixed, which ended up costing 160 bucks.

I would have called Sony on this first, I assume that your warranty was expired since you did it yourself? If it was not, than you voided it by doing it. Just call 1-800-345-SONY.
