Dark Cloud 2 never made it as a Greatest Hit? Guess too many people bought the first one and weren't really looking forward to a second after it. :(

The second didn't get as high of reviews. Most people thought one was the better game and 2 didn't add anything. I haven't played it myself.

The DMC Collector's set is not GH ASFAIK, my set has black label standard versions.

I'm going to leave it as is for now, regardless, if it's red label or not. It still basically falls into the cheaper than original retail and repackaged formula and since I maintain the list... ;) well I think you get the picture. I do appreciate the concern and I'll keep your opinion noted for future revisions of the list.

Look for Kingdom Hearts 2 to go to greatest hits by the end of February..

Is that just a guess, hard evidence or what?

(Has it been out long enough to qualify, I really don't know offhand?)

Well when someone gets confirmation post it here and I'll add it to the list. When it does finally show up.

It came out last April, so sometime this year I would guess.

anyone know the best place to find old gh games such as any of the tony hawk games or ssx 3? It seems stupid to buy used ones from gamestop for 17.99.

I finally saw copies of Soul Calibur III with the actual red GH band on the game itself. For months many copies just had the GH sticker over the black band. The case now also says "Bandai Namco" instead of just "Namco"

Now I need to know if they fixed the massive memory card bug on the GH version. If so, I'll go out and buy it now! That damn game has me afraid to play it fearing the death of my game saves.

Naruto Uzumaki is GH... i think its misprint cos most online stores & local stores still have it for $40. As far as i kn ow Naruto: Ultimate Ninja (PS2) is now drop down $20 (GH will be very soon).

I'll pickup this game tomorrow w/ $5 off coupon b4 it went up.

Yeah. I thought the criteria for being GH is that it must have been released for at least 9 months and sold a certain number of copies of it.

Not a misprint..at least not in regards to price. BB.com and BB B&M stores do indeed have Uzumaki for $19.99 now.

I saw Nicktoons Unite! with the new Greatest Hits label today. SUrprised to see that make the list! Also saw as previously reported The Godfather, Black, Soul Calibur III, Fight Night Round 3, and Naruto Uzumaki Chronicles (with the GH sticker over the packaging).

They used to always brag about the new GH line-ups, now they just kind of pop up overnight.

Trakkan just put the list up, if you would, you don't need to add all my comments to the first page, thanks. :)

Thanks for the updates everybody, special thanks to Gunstar Red and Nogib for the heads up. I'm gonna leave Soul Cali 3 as Namco, just because that's how it was released first, but thanks for letting me know about the change on the package.

If anyone has extra time to check the "Official" list (I think they use my list to check thier's, heh) over at Playstation.com I would appreciate it, I haven't had the time to compare it in the last few months to mine to make sure nothing was missed.

http://www.us.playstation.com/Games/GreatestHits (http://www.us.playstation.com/greatesthits.aspx)

I did add a few that were missing, if I missed any more from the list lemme know. Chronicles of Narnia, Need for Speed Most Wanted, DBZ Budokai Tenchi, another Sponge Bob game, Ultimate Spiderman, new total comes up to 214.

Anyway here's the new list, again thanks for all the help, it's truly appreciated. :)

Well I dunno what to say, I got proof up above that it is a GH, as far as I see it, I'll give a month or two and if it stays at that price or the GH version isn't confirmed and stable, then I'll take it off, it just might be that stores are slow to get it at the new price point. Not like it's the first game to be price reduced and for it to take a long time to show up that way all over the place.

Thanks for the heads up though, I appreciate it. :)

Added Kingdom Hearts 2 to the internal list, since someone posted a thread in the PS2 section but didn't bother to post the info here to let me know. ;) =P

Anyway, a quick heads up, please don't use Wikipedia's Greatest Hits page to let me know of new releases, because it's really inaccurate.

By that I mean they combine all the regions into one entire list and then don't differenciate them. (Ex. 24: The Game and Dark Chronicle (aka Dark Cloud 2) both went GH (Platnium / The Best) in Europe and Japan respectively and have not done so here, and thereby making the list totally useless for our uses)

So basically as I always say my list is 99% accurate, thanks for readin' and keep 'em coming, and please post up here and let me know since I don't always check the posts in the PS2 thread all the time. Thanks. :)

^^^I read that Cars was actually the second highest selling game for all systems after Madden 07 for 2006.

Has anyone tried out the GH Soul Calibur III yet to see if they fixed the memory card glitch? It's been GH for a few months now and I haven't seen anyone confirm or deny the glitch.

Actually KH 2 is on my internal list, just isn't on the MAIN list yet, check my last few posts above.

As far as True Crime NY, I'm gonna need proof of that, like I said I will NOT use Wikipedia as a reference, because they don't differenciate between regions (US/Euro/JPN) and I can't tell which is which on their list. I'll check Playstation.com out, but Gamefaqs lists the Japanese version as "the Best" version as the only GH so the jury's out on that one.

As much as I appreciate all the help, and I really do, if you can please post proof, a link something showing that a game went GH, otherwise I have to double check everything, because I want this list 99% accurate.

I assume you mean Fight Night Round 2, correct?

And again I can't find any proof for this one either, just outta curiousity, where'd you read that Fight Night Rnd 2 & True Crime NY were GH titles?

If you can either give a credible source or links, I'll add them, otherwise they stay off the list for now. Sorry.

Newly added to the Internal List
========================
Jaws Unleased
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow
Cars

I might add Lego Star Wars II, since it just dropped to $19.99 for all formats, possibly signaling a GH version....stay tuned.

Again thanks for all the help, keep up the good work.

As far as Bully is concerned I wouldn't expect an announcement for GH till later this year it was only released in Oct. '06, so we still have a while to go on that one.

Here's how the released were timed.

SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs SCEA 10/11/05 US

SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs (Greatest Hits) SCEA 09/04/06 US

11 month gap give or take before GH

And for the newest game...

SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals: Combined Assault SCEA 11/07/06 US

I don't expect to see it go GH (remember it had to sell well enough as well, I don't know sales figures off the top of my head) until Sept./Oct. at the earliest.

Be patient, you still have a bit of a wait ahead of you. Hope this answered your question.

Haven't heard, seen, or read anything yet proclaiming it yet.

Best bet is to see what the sales figures were and then do what I did above for the Socom games to estimate when it might come out.

Speaking of which I need to check Sony's site out when I get some free time and see if anything new has popped up lately.

Anybody see anything not listed in these pages yet, might be time to update the main list with the additions on the internal list.

And now we know it was approx. 9 mos. since it did come out just here recently, least we know Sony sticks to their guidelines for the most part. So my guess was pretty much on the money then.

Added 17 new games, check the list they're in BOLD, corrected an old error by the original updater that was still in the list with the publisher for Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly.

Caught one I must of missed (Tourist Trophy) and added it.

Last note: I give new PS2 GH games till maybe the beginning of '08 they I think we probably won't see anymore after that point, because nothing I know of (other than GoW2) has the possibility to be added to the list any later then next March. Just my speculation, but that's how I see it.

Enjoy, and as always thanks for the help. :)

this game is worth only 20 bucks. The story is awful and the dialogue is so bad. it's like they made up words for the story. I played 50 hours and it wasn't the greatest. It's a mediocre story but the presentation is amazing.

Bully is GH also.

BTW, what makes a game a GH? Does it have to sell a certain amount of copies?

It has to sell at least 400,000 copies and be on the market for at least 9 months.

Final Fantasy XII (Square-Enix)
Bully (Rockstar)

Both added to the internal list thanks for the heads up guys. Been too busy to check lately.

I'll probably update the main list in Nov. sometime, since Sony likes to do a pre-Christmas rush GH rollout for the holidays.

Thanks Again. :)

FFXII is kinda nice for $20. altough i am not sure if i should buy it. Heard so many bad things about it.

Is Tomb Raider (the last one, i forgot the name) not already $20? darn, i would like to get it but not for $30. I enjoyed Legend, was great.

Tomb Raider Anniversary you mean? It just came out, not to long ago, and I think it's $30.

New to the internal list. I musta missed it somewhere.

Dirge of Cerberus™: Final Fantasy® VII

I'll update the main list during Dec. sometime, I'm waiting to see if they announce any new additions before Christmas.

Shieryda, sorry for the lack of updates, been busy with school starting back up, plus I transfered schools, and went on a bender of Persona 3 for Dec. & Jan.

Anyway, 2 new additions that I saw on the official site.

Ghost Rider (2K Games)
Need for Speed™: Carbon (EA)

I'll have to PM Trakan soon and have'em update the main list for me, I dunno when it was updated last.

Baron, as far as best guesses on what's next, I wouldn't chance a guess, something liscenced probably, GoW2 definitely, but not till late spring, early summer. Anything else, anybody's guess, if you want to kinda know best guess to check PS2 sales charts and see what's come out in the past 12 months and sold a decent amount.

Hopefully my next update won't be 3 months from now.

Later. :)

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme (Konami)

Are these the first ever DDR games to go GH (taking the PS1 into account)? Just curious.

I remembered that happened with Scarface last year so it should be down to 19.99 soon.

I came across these in a few stores with the GH packaging and everywhere had them priced at $39.99. I'm sure the price will drop to $19.99 soon enough, but seems stupid that they had GH games out for $40.

Strange that they chose the first Extreme and the second MAX and not Extreme 2 and / or MAX 1. I hope they turn all the old DDRs GH as well since they are hard to come by even used for a decent price.

It would make sense that it's not a mistake. Thank God because I just recently finished the first GoW and really enjoyed it, so I'll be picking this up when it hits $20.

Unless a dance mat is included, yeah, that pricing is definitely off.

Extreme 2 is a fairly recent release, so that's probably why it's not GH (yet?), and maybe MAX 1 didn't sell enough to make the cut *shrug*

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it, and So help me I will try to get that list submitted this week since I'm on break.

As to the question the only DDR game I've found to be GH on PS1 is this Dance Dance Revolution Konamimix, shockingly (or maybe not so much) none of the others have made it.

So I'll add the 2 DDR games and GoW2 to the list, kinda suprised it took almost a year to go GH.

Thanks Again to everyone for the help. Much Appreciated as always. :)

Target yesterday had the Greatest Hits stickers on their God of War II copies. The shelf tag still read $39.99, but didn't have it price checked. If it's anything like the first GOW, expect black label copies to vanish fast and shoot up in value in a few months once they're extinct.

And for some reason, all the stores I come across the Greatest Hits DDR games, they STILL have them priced at $39.99!

Sorry for the massive delay, here's the new, improved albeit 7 month delayed list update.

P.S. Thanks for all the help, keeping me on my toes and updated on what's newly added.

Also we might need more confirmation on the DDR games, can anybody confirm them at the $20 GH price?

I bought the GH version of DDRMAX2 not too long ago; can take a pic if you like as confirmation. I think the same store might've had Extreme at the GH price, but I don't remember; maybe someone else can confirm it.

No that's good enough, if you own a physical copy of that, it's good enough for me not to doubt its existence.

I just wanted some hard proof, since I didn't see it on Sony's official list, and a few others said they hadn't see it anywhere.

Thanks for the update though, I'll remove them from the unconfirmed section of the master list then (they are already in the main list, so it doesn't matter, other than for aesthetics is all).

Any links to show me? Otherwise I'll look over at the official list to see if Sony put them up or not.

If you got pics, that'll work too. Kinda suprised FF sold well enough to make it though.

I have yet to see Dance Dance Revolution Max 2 for $20 new anywhere!
Isn't it the first DDR Max and not the second one, am I reading the post wrong?

I can confirm that I have seen Dance Dance Revolution Extreme for about $20 at Walmart! :)

Not sure what to tell ya, Amazon or some other online retailer might have it.

(And as far as I can tell it was Max 2, so unless someone says otherwise that's what I'm using on the list)

Thanks for the confirmation on Extreme. Wonder if Sony has a few more PS2 GH releases planned or since the PS3 ones are on the way that this is all of them we'll see.

Okami is going GH (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-43-49-en-70-2x3r.html). No official sources, but still. Getting this day one. DDR Extreme is GH and $20 at my local Wal*Mart, haven't seen DDRMAX2 but I probably just haven't been looking hard enough.

Why'd you sell it?

I dunno. I figured the PSP version would totally eclipse it but I realized I'd rather sit on the couch and play it on a big TV.

EDIT - Oops, I guess that means I do know why I sold it.

Yesterday at Target I saw Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, and Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s all with the imprinted red Greatest Hits labels. They had them down to $19.99 for a few weeks now, but yesterday was the first time I saw the red labels.

Kind of surprised they made GH versions of them. Many stores still have all 3 for $49.99, so the new prices still aren't universal.

Major list update.....between the new releases you guys told me about, a few that were added to the official list on playstation.com and comparing my list to the wikipedia list I have a whole bunch of additions.....

55 New Additions were added to the list in this update!!! :hot:

However, therein lies the problem, the reason (other than procrastination) is that for the last few days I've spent over 6-8+ hours combing over that list and mine, double checking everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, to make my list as accurate as it can be. And trust me there are errors all over, their list if bug riddled (and blatantly steals from mine) and mine was missing a lot of games, but also I can't confirm with certainty that some of what they list is true. (They might have confused the European Platinum Hits version for the GH version, as that seems to be the case sometimes)

Here's the thing though, I need help to get the list correct, so if anyone sees or owns any of the disputed games either let me know, post a link, or a picture of the cover anything that confirms the existence that these things are real, any and all help is appreciated and accepted.

So starting with this update, anything I don't have 100% confirmation, proof, or at least a multiple sources (more than Wikipedia and Gamefaqs/Gamespot) I will denote games as follows...

And with that onto the list. Merry Christmas. ;)

The game came out in 2003 so if it's not GH by now it never will.

If you want it you'll just need to try and score one.

Yeah I don't know if it ever made it to GH status or not. I'll take your word for it. I was just saying that if it wasn't a GH game by now it never will. Amazon is selling the game for under $17 with free shipping.

I've read it's a good game, much better than the first. Both Gamespot and IGN gave it a 9.0

Yeah just so there is no confusion anything with the yellow ??? question marks take with a grain of salt, since I CANNOT confirm a lot that was added this time, which is why I have the new legend attached to the list, that hopefully explains the new things I added.

But like they said you can get it for at least that cheap if you look around you might be able to score it for less than Amazon's used price.

I'm glad people are taking note of the list, and as I asked, if anyone can confirm any of the ones that I have questions about I would be more than happy to correct the list as necessary. I'm just glad it's helpful. :)

OK, thanks, I might have a few free minutes this weekend to check out the Playstation.com list and a few other sources, to see if anymore slipped by while I've been busy.

With E3 coming up in 2 months, I think we might see a handful more (along with some PS3 titles) being named on the list. **Note I'm not doing a PS3 list, fyi. :)

Keep'em coming.

Need for Speed™ ProStreet (EA)

Just FYI, the GH Disgaea is a bit... different. The game is identical but the packaging and instructions reference the later Disgaea games. It identifies itself as the original game in the series and stuff like that. I never really noticed if other GH games do that sort of thing.

Ok thanks, I'll put the note on it on the list, and yeah they sometimes change things in the game, packaging, ect. they are just never too specific about what they do when they do it.

Katamari, yeah, Iron Man, people really love them some crappy super hero liscenced games, **looks at GH list** yup, quite a bit.

Definitely going to eventually pick-up Lego Indiana Jones!

I have yet to see the following games for Greatest HIts in any store:

Also, I haven't seen Okami with the Greatest Hits banner ouside of my local Gamestops.

Anyone seen these games and what stores?

I saw Star Wars the Force Unleased with the Greatest Hits banner on both the PS2 and PSP versions.

Does anyone know if there are any improvements/fixes in the GH version of this game?

I have the option of picking up the GH and a non-Greatest Hits version. I mainly will buying this game to play and don't care about how it looks.

Also, I picked up Okami with the Greatest Hits label/banner at a local Bestbuy. It was the first time I ever saw a new copy not at a Gamestop! :)

uncle5555

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I don't check the topic more than every few weeks now.

Umm, like Anotherpoorgamer just mentioned it is out there, mostly Amazon will stock them or at the very least they will match the GH $20 price tag, at least that is what I have seen when I was looking for Okami on the cheap a few weeks ago.

As far as bug fixes (which I know the PS3 version needed) no idea, and considering Lucasarts canned almost their entire videogame development staff a few months ago it's seriously unlikely.

Not every store will carry the new GH releases because the PS2 is all but dead as we all know, and to retail stores if it ain't bringing in money then they have no reason to give it space on the shelf. I'd suggest Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon if you're looking for specific titles at that price point, whether you get the red label is anybody's guess. (I bought what I thought was the GH version of Dracula X for PSP and got a black label version instead) So unless it has extra content you want, I wouldn't sweat it, since for me personally it is the cost that is most important.

Anotherpoorgamer, thanks for the update on SW: Force Unleased, I'll put it on the internal release list, I'll probably update the main list the fall some time maybe around Thanksgiving or Christmas, since that will probably be the last of the PS2 GH games, but I've been wrong before with calling their demise, so who knows. =P

Just triple checked VP2 and yeah it's on Sony's official list, see here. (This is originally where I got the information to begin with)

http://www.us.playstation.com/Search?search&type=Games&GreatestHit=true#%7B%22__s%22%3A%7B%22Page%22%3A%2 21%22%2C%22PageSize%22%3A%2215%22%2C%22SectionSear ch%22%3A%22games%22%2C%22Section%22%3A%22games%22% 2C%22GreatestHit%22%3A%22true%22%2C%22Console%22%3 A%222%22%2C%22SearchText%22%3A%22valkyrie%20profil e%22%7D%7D

So it was legit as far as they are concerned. If you can find it...that's another story.

Added Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance Limited Promotional Edition (Midway) to the internal list for an update.

Only for "Kollectors" (sorry couldn't resist ;)) but since it is a GH game and a limited edition one at that it goes on the list.

Info from the main CAG page and also info found here.

An Update?!? Wow, that's uhh...new.

Was at Walmart yesterday looking over the case for a good deal (yeah-right) and saw a new GH game I hadn't heard went GH yet.

I present (quite possibly the last) newest addition to the PS2 GH list.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (Square-Enix)

This one's not even on Sony's site yet, (I see they sneaked a few new PS3 additions on as well) maybe if I get some time over Turkey week I'll do a new fangled update, been awhile since I updated the main post. Plus sadly enough not many people come in here anymore.

One small note, why in the heck was the entire PS2 section purged, there was some good info in here, even if it was old (I looked for an archives section, but didn't see anything) but even still, wasn't there an option for older posts, an archive in the ps2 section, anything other than deletion?

Thanks for keeping it updated I like getting games when they're greatest hits because its games for cheap and most of the times they are decent games.

It's not a problem, I'm just glad people are still finding the list useful. (That's one of the main reasons I still do it) I figure with PS2 development all but done, that within the next 12-24 months every GH game that will come out will be out, maybe sooner, I was a bit surprised to see Kingdom Hearts show up.

Thanks for reading, and glad I could help. :)

Wow, I thought Sony had pretty much forgotten about the PS2. Maybe they will actually release some more GHs before the console is done.

I could see MUA2 getting a GH rerelease along with that most recent CoD PS2-only game.

I'm still hoping for some more US game bundles. A Smackdown vs. Raw 08-10 one would update me. A Lego Starwars/Batman/Indy one would be good too.
