Anyway, I played some Buzz! Quiz Show with Azu earlier online. Got my first Sofa vs. Sofa trophy also. I'll be honest the online multi-player worked differently than I thought, but it was still fun. I just gotta keep playing more single player. I have no idea how I'll score 5000 points in single player though (since you have to answer every question perfectly).

They serve a purpose, people can have more detailed discussion of what they're playing in the genre threads, and GGT is more a thread for random discussion of what people are playing, industry news etc. And the OTT is a bunch of people talking about shit in their daily lives, random news, and a bit of gaming discussion here or there. All the threads have their purpose and I don't see the problem with having them all around.

Pretty much, the fighters topic was really in depth with the fighting genre and MarkMan would always give us current news on fighters in specific whenever he had some. I've never seen the GGT go anywhere near as in depth with any fighter here.

Not to mention, I was glad to have an RPG topic because I hate RPGs with a passion and it was nice not to have everyone talk about them since I seem to be the only one who doesn't like them. I don't think I'd hang out at the GGT if it was all RPG discussion. I wouldn't fit in at all.

How are they incovenient? They remain as part of your Group Memberships under your profile, with direct links to them...no need to bookmark them, just join a club and it will be under your group memberships for good.

This is where you are mistaken...the GGT has constant offenders...notice how after a few infractions and silences were handed out this place allowed for a civil discussion.

His posts would get lost in the shuffle of the GGT and not get noticed as much as they did in the fighting thread.

The GGT already moves too fast to allow in depth discussion of anything IMO, and it will be even worse if all the genre specific, more indepth stuff has to try and be shoe horned into one thread.

I'm just not into. I'm not big on being involved on shit on the net besides forums. I don't give a shit about social clubs, blogs etc. Don't do myspace, facebook etc. Maybe it's a generation gap thing since I'm older than most here.


It's a club...there wouldn't be a reason to stop after 500posts

The main points are:

1. It wouldn't have the diversity of activity in terms of new members popping in and likely wouldn't have as much activity period.

2. It's impossible to have indepth discussions in such catch all threads or clubs. A club may could replace the GGT to some extent (with the limitation raised in number 1), but it could never do what the GGT and the genre threads together did.

Not to mention the technical limitations on clubs that Krymer outlined above (no Youtube imbedding, no spoiler tags, etc.).

A rule that was implemented long ago was that only one Off Topic Topic discussion to remain open at a time...there was an issue with some members and it got split up into two groups. The OTT and the GGT...the GGT was supposed to be all about discussion of games and nothing off topic...ofcourse we both know that its merely another OTT used to seperate 2 groups of users.

The GGT almost didn't happen but after so much push, it was decided to let it stay...yet appearently one wasn't enough that you guys created 4...(possibly more). One thread is enough!

You just sound like you're bitter that the GGT was allowed to exist and take posts out of the OTT or something. The smarter decision would have been to have OTT be 100% non-gaming and the GGT for random gaming IMO. Though that's an independent issue from the need for genre threads on top of the GGT.

Game threads are fine for new games. But the genre threads were better places to discuss games you're playing long after release. When I've bumped a thread for a game a year or two old, it tends to just fall off the front page with few or no additional posts. The genre threads tend to be read by more fans of a game and generate more discussion even on older games.

I just don't see what the problem is. It's not clutter or bandwith if you want people to start threads for every game. I just don't see the harm here.

That sounds reasonable to me, as long as the GGT is also still around. I never liked all the title nonsense, and changing to new threads after 500 posts was annoying as if you posted on the last page or 2 of a GGT your post largely went unread as people migrated to the new thread.
