Played a bunch more P3: FES Answer today and wanted to just file another complaint about taking out the socializing aspects. Its just a dungeon grind now.

I also put a little more time into Castlevania OoE. Maybe its just me not playing a Castlevania game in awhile, but this one seems like the difficulty has been ramped up some. I hardly remember dying much in DoS.

And I played more Ass's Creed. Just running around the first big city and doing all the "rescue citizens" and stuff like that. Seems fun right now, but I can understand some of the complaints I've read about it from others saying it can get repetitive. But its still new and fun for me, so we'll see as I continue playing more.

I'm borrowing Fallout from a friend to see how well it runs on my computer. If it runs well, I'll probably pick it up. If not, I'll wait for a sale on the console versions.

I need to upgrade my computer, but I'm not sure if I just want to put some new parts in this or just say fuck it and buy a lappy once I get a job. It wouldn't take me too long to save up for a Macbook Pro methinks.

Edit: I need to upgrade because my hardware is shit now that I'm on vista. Runs slower than on XP, and freezes way the fuck too much.

Vista likes good hardware and plenty of RAM for sure. If you have that, it's fine. XP is just faster because it came out in 2001. ;) It doesn't require much.

Yeah, that was one of my complaints about The Answer. My other was the fact you couldn't choose a difficulty level.

Campaign part 3 of wipeout hd (time trials...) and The Club's damn 2nd tournament both require memorization, which PISSES ME OFF!

Then I tried the banjo 360 demo to ease the pain...but it SUCKS!

Maybe if Ratchet Future wasn't such a cake walk as I beat the game w/o armor, or if Assassin's Creed wasn't a pushover, or if games were made with a NON-FRUSTRATING DECENT CHALLENGE!

But again, Portal was good.

What kind of dual core? I have a 3800+. If I overclock it, will it be faster? I don't have any special cooling, but I did use arctic silver paste. Anyone want to walk me through oc'ing? My 7900GS is a lil faster than the 78000GT right?

I wish I could sell my video card but it's old so no one would buy it. I didn't know shit about computers when I built it in the spring of 07, so I just bought the parts people on messages boards recommended. Big mistake lol, I paid 150 for that 7900 and I could have waited like 2 months and gotten an 8800GT for close to the same price.

EDIT: I'm trying to decide if I want to buy Rock Band 2 drums with my amazon credit or just save it. The drums are super improved, but 90 bucks is a lot. How does BML work? I have a 10 dollar giftcard coming in so with that and bill me later, they would just be 70 and therefore worth it.

I disagree, The last 2 Castlevania games were extremely easy on the default settings.

This one is easier -- there were a couple spots where i had to figure out which glyphs to exploit, but nothing near some of the DoS bosses or some of the later PoR stages that had me level grinding so I could survive.

And the rare item grinding is the most bullshit developer move ever.:bomb:

I was fully under the impressoin that you needed a special item for the albus fight. SotN had an item like that, I think DoS and PoR did as well. So I figured getting this "master ring" was the way to alter the outcome of that fight.

And then whats his face old dude is like go up to the thing and use the union, but I didn't talk to him yet and used the dracula's blood one or whatever.....and died! So I played almost 2 hours worth of the Resistance 2 beta. I enjoyed it, but I'm not used to fps on the PS3 controller just yet.

Other than that, I played a demo of DBZ Burst Limit, and I was very pleased with it. Of course, the DBZ games are all more of the same, but I never get sick of them!

Dead Rising more so than Gears. Dead Rising had your character carry over (sort of like DS)... When I pop that in again, it's time for Epic Tier 3 Engineer, I think.

Really, the game is only short if you plow through the primary story and don't bother with side quests, socializing with NPCs, trying the interesting real estate market system, or just messing around the game world in general. The four hours I spent last night was mostly messing around having sex with my two lesbian wives, redecorating their houses, killing random bandits for giggles, buying property, and wandering around the game world with my pooch looking for treasure. I barely got past getting to the Crucible.

What os you trying to run it on? If vista I believe you need the patches to make it work as it was made for 95 I believe. I could be wrong on os but I know it needs patched to work.

Played a couple of hours on Fallout 3 last night, managed to do a few things. One thing that annoys me a bit is the way the game makes you take winding routes to get to places cos the more direct routes are blocked by fallen buildings, minor thing but it was bugging me a bit.

Also spent about an hour on the Banjo: N&B demo. I wasn't sure about it at first as the first challange was a bit annoying but I enjoyed the other more race orientated challanges. I think for $37 with a free download of the XBLA game it's worth it, I'll be keeping my pre-order. Game looks really good and the music was great.

Anyone been playing the Call of Duty World at War beta? I just don't like it.

It feels slower than COD4 so I don't get the same rush from playing it. The artillery strikes basically hold up the action because of the major screen shaking. And the dogs are so frustrating because you don't know where they're coming from (unlike the chopper from COD4)

I don't have a problem with the WWII guns and 2 of the 3 beta maps are fun but everything else feels like a step back from the previous game. I guess this is what it's like to play a Treyarch Call of Duty.

And I liked the dogs in theory but they need to show up on the radar. You could always tell where the chopper was in COD4 and know whether or not you could make it across the street without getting shot up.

And you're right about the watered down guns. I just realized that I didn't notice it because almost all of my custom classes have Stopping Power. And I never felt like that perk was a requirement for COD4.

Also, is there co-op in the PC version? I guess it doesn't matter because I'll be playing so much Left for Dead but me and my friend are always looking for online co-op games for our PCs.

360 and PS3 Mirror's Edge look nearly identical. But that doesn't matter to me, because I'm getting the PC version. "terrorist elitist fist bump" :)

Slightly less jaggies is all I really saw. And I mean SLIGHT. Achievements are probably the driving factor for that version, for some people. I don't care about them.

Bumpers worked OK, but I don't mind them anymore.

PS3 ME looked a little sharper, but that might be HDMI vs. Component.

ME has pretty low PC requirements. Well, pretty low compared to some games now. ;)

256 MB (GeForce 6 Series/ATI Radeon X1350 or HD2400)

10 bucks cheaper too is nice.

So how does the 9600mGT 512 mb handle games? I dunno if I want to buy new shit for this computer or go the laptop route. Only thing that interests me about the laptop is that it would be built by a company and have a warranty and shit, so I would have to spend days trying to fix it if it fucks up.

My friend has a 9600GT and it's pretty decent. He just plays WoW though, and it's more than enough for that game. Benchmarks put it slightly behind an 8800GT, 15% or so at most, around 8% or so for everything else.

Avoid AA and super high resolutions and it should be decent.
