the GGT is like half OTTers now. :lol: seems to be for the better. There was something about the pre-linkin massacre ggt that wasn't quite right. I thought chacrana would be back by now though.

Fallout 3 is the biggest surprise of the year for me. So godly on the PC. besides gears 2, I won't be playing anything else for a long while.

Fable 2, otoh, started out really fun, then I just lost interest in all the gameplay mechanics.

$125 is still too steep for me, but maybe it'll drop again by the time I get up to LA. Is that 160GB standalone drive available yet? That would help push the price down, IMO.

What I played of Resistance 2 was ok. Not quite a snooze fest, but there was definitely something understated or lacking about the game, even with the large enemies, that I'm unable to articulate.

With Gears, the graphics engine has some "pop" so that everything seems more vivid and intense and I like the way your avatar has some heft/weight to it when running or slamming into cover. I'm still getting R2 though, as I like FPS and the large scale multiplayer/multiplayer co-op campaign modes.

I would like to upgrade my 360 HDD, but I don't really play it enough. No 120 GB drives on clearance for me. If I could get one for $60 I'd do it.

I just didn't play that game because of the way the ranked games were setup so I wasn't really kickass at it. I remember Rybread picking it up really late like the next spring on account of his schoolwork causing him to miss it at launch and being amazed that he knocked out the 10,000 kills in like 2 months. I did the calculations in my head and it would've taken me like a whole year to do that with the way I played it.

The only game I'll admit to being godawful at is umm...Sega Superstar Tennis.

I am getting hyped like crazy for Gears 2! that GameTrailers video review showed some really, really awesome stuff. I might actually like the multiplayer this time around too, with decreased focus on the fucking shotgun kills. I hated Gears 1 multiplayer for that..

Just beat Crazy train for the first time.

Only a 3 star. I think once I get the weird stumming in the riffs down, a 5 star will be easy. Tapping makes the solos way to easy. They're still a little tough, but it took out a lot of challenge. Wouldn't have beaten it w/o tapping.

I'm a hardcore MGS fan, and I was let down by MGS4. The story and shit were pretty sweet, but in hindsight, I wanted more areas like the first 2 areas in the game. It's still a good game, but this one, more than any other, I wanted more gameplay.

Dead Space was a bit frustrating as I was getting mobbed by 8 "things" in a small lab and I kept messing it up, but then it became awesome again when I started throwing stuff at them and the got attacked by the cool little tentacle baby things.

Fallout 3 gets better every time I play it, I think I'd like to live in the Fallout world. Go where you want, shoot who you want, no government, go to bed nearly dead with half your limbs hanging off and wake up fully recovered the next day.

I played about 45 minutes of De Blob this morning. I really got sucked into it. Level 2 took me about 41 minutes to complete. I tried to get everything, and I definitely could have, but I had to stop myself and finish the level. If you have a Wii, you should definitely pick it up.

Protips:

Just remember:
(a) RB will spin your plasma cutter's axis. very useful.
(b) dismemberment is key, go for the legs first -- then you can cut off another limb or their head as they crawl toward you or curb stomp the motherfuckers. :)
(c) stasis is badass. if you're near a stasis recharge station, clear out the area, return and recharge, finish clearing, then fill up for the road.
(d) keep your pimphand strong and run. if those fuckers roll up on you, smack a bitch, run away, turn and take out their legs.
(e) look out for mr pants. that guy is a cock.

I've never used the cutter alt fire mode, thanks for the tip. I always go for the limbs first, I don't think it was particularly hard I just kept fucking it up. I've got it set on whatever the default difficulty is. When I finally did it I don't think I'd lost any energy.

Half the problem was I was too worried about using med-kits as I don't want to be short later on.

But IW does Multi Better. For some reason CoD4 is just more fun. The vehicles don't really work either.

With a 6-8 hour single player campaign, CoD4 was mostly about multiplayer, at least if you planned on playing the game for awhile and getting your $$$ out of it. Not sure how long the previous CoD games were, but standard fare for FPS is generally 6-10 hours.

CoD4 was much, much more frustrating, even on Hardened than CoD2 ever was on Veteran. I had a lot of fun slogging through CoD2 on Veteran, but CoD4's single player had so many frustrating parts where it was so obvious you just had to get lucky and make it past this invisible "Breaking Point" and survive until then or they just kept cloning more and more enemies to attack. It feels like it's pointless to even shoot back because the enemies just get replenished unless you get close enough for the game to turn off the "spawn rooms".

CoD4 was much more reliant on that, and I really hated it. Especially in the chernobyl area, defending underneath the ferris wheel. That's where I had to go way around the other side of the park and hide in this big square room that all the enemies were spawning from, to stop them from spawning.

CoD4 was much, much more frustrating, even on Hardened than CoD2 ever was on Veteran. I had a lot of fun slogging through CoD2 on Veteran, but CoD4's single player had so many frustrating parts where it was so obvious you just had to get lucky and make it past this invisible "Breaking Point" and survive until then or they just kept cloning more and more enemies to attack. It feels like it's pointless to even shoot back because the enemies just get replenished unless you get close enough for the game to turn off the "spawn rooms".

CoD4 was much more reliant on that, and I really hated it. Especially in the chernobyl area, defending underneath the ferris wheel. That's where I had to go way around the other side of the park and hide in this big square room that all the enemies were spawning from, to stop them from spawning.


Totally disagree with this. There were 2 parts of COD2 that made me walk away for a few weeks each time: Escaping the trainyard in Russia and the 'A-F' villiage in France.

The Ferris Wheel was easier than either of those scenes.

To this day I have no idea how I got out of the Trainyard.

The A-F level was hard until you realised that running into the houses and hoping for the best is the only thing you can really do. Unfortunatly it took me a while to realise that. Like Jer I enjoyed playing through COD2 on Veteran cos I always thought I would eventually make it to the next checkpoint.

I was wondering if I'd enjoy COD4 in the same way.

Keep at it! The Ultor base missions are neat, and definitely worth trying to get passed the Samedi missions.

Have you played the mission where The Samedi abduct you and you're retardly fucked up the entire mission? That's a goodin' in itself.

Yeah, that killed the CoD4 single player for me. I beat it on normal, tried on hardened and never got further than One Shot, One Kill as I could never make it to the helicopter. I seldom replay games, so I just gave up and relegated it to multiplayer only.

CoD2 I haven't bothered (and don't plan on) playing on hardened or veteran so I can't compare. But it did seem to have much less reliance on infiniitely respawning enemies until you reach the invisible barrier crap. I hate that, it's just lazy game design. You should be able to hang back, pick everyone off and move forward like you can in most good FPS games.
