Made it up to act 3 in Gears 2. Liking it a lot so far. I'm confused though , how do you do the execution kills on the downed enemies? I've been able to do the curb stomp but I can't figure out how to do anything else.

I've done the curb stomps , and I've picked the guys up as meat shields , and 1 or 2 times I think I did a special (I used my gun and beat the guy down) but I can't seem to do any others. Trying to figure out where the 11 different executions come from.

Geeze, I have to rush to finish Gears now because my friend in New York reallys wants to co-op Gears 2 with me.I did sell my PS3 before Resistance 2 came out but Shawn Elliot's meh-tastic previews and even Garnett Lee from 1up who was super hyped saying it's "mindbogglingly bad" prove it enough for me as I trust 1up's opinions on things pretty well.

Yeah, you'll have it looking nicer than the console versions, though probably without AA or high AF (not necessary on that small of a screen and at that res anyway, for this game.) unless that GPU is bad, but it's one of the newest laptop cards, right?

The only things reviews tell me are, if they're all positive, that it more than likely is an enjoyable game. I don't know exactly until I play it.

If you don't like the first one, then you'll probably not like the second, but I wouldn't need "Shawn Elliot" or whoever to tell me so, and make me feel assured about it.

Gears of War 2 kicks ass so far. Put 7 or 8 hours into split screen co-op with a buddy last evening/night on Hardcore.

Will try to get some into day, either start a solo game on normal and/or play some online or Horde. But unfortunately I have a ton of work to do to get a presentation ready for a conference next week. :(

Just need to decide whether to start a solo campaign, try out horde, or give the online multi a shot. Leaning toward the first, despite getting pretty far in the campaign in co-op split screen last night. I really want to see the graphics etc. on my whole 50" TV rather than just half of it!

No. You don't need a play and charge. It doesn't turn your wireless controller into a wired one. You need the wireless gaming receiver.

Exactly what I'm doing. Playing though normal solo to get a feel for the game , learn the levels , ect. Then play though with my brother on hardcore/insane (may skip hardcore depending on how big of a difficulty jump it is between the two). And I also agree that while online play is nice , there's just something about local multiplayer/co-op that can't be beat.

On a unrelated to Gears 2 note , you know what sega game my brother has been playing the mess out of lately and really deserves a sequel? Space Channel 5. I've had the music from both games stuck in my head for days now.

Finished Act 3 last night but could not go any farther cause I was tired as fuck. The research facility was creepy as hell though. Does the game ever end up giving more information as to what was actually going on there? I have my suspicions but if the game ends up saying I'll hold off on them till then.

Gears 2 is absolutely the shit. Played a good bit last night. Put a couple hours into horde with some CAGs, and only got to level 20. Then started up a solo campaign and got up to right before the research facility, so haven't made it as far as I did with my friend in co-op Friday night yet.

Then I hopped on and played a MP with some CAGs, fun but I sucked it up pretty badly.

PS3 has actually had a nice last couple months in terms of exclusives... LBP, Resistance 2, Motorstorm PR, Valkyria Chronicles, Naruto, Socom Confrontation, Buzz Quiz TV... and Bioshock/ES finally on PS3.

Not Halo 4 , Halo Recon would probably be the first to possibly take down Gears 2. Key word here is possibly. Releasing the new achievements and announcing the mythic map pack seemed to rejuvenate the online community for Halo 3.

Yeah, today has kind of sucked for me too. Slaving away on data analysis, interpretation and putting together a Powerpoint for a confernce next week all morning/afternoon. I'm usually not so last minute, but the past few weeks were crazy with a cold, and preparing for and traveling for job interviews.

Gears 2 remedies that to a good extent. Lots of outdoor sequences, a lot more color underground (glowing mushrooms etc).

It's still often has the drab look, but that's just a design choice to get the post apocalyptic setting across. But it definitely has a lot more color and variety in environments than the first one.

Ratchet and Clank might be ok , Sneak King probably not. Especially since most places only sell it for like $1 anyway.

Just beat Gears 2 on hardcore. The brumak sequence was awesome, the Reaver Dragoon section sucked though. Epic kinda fails at any gameplay mechanic besides gun battles...which is not a problem :)

Hey Gwen, haven't seen you for a while.

Played a lot of games this weekend, made some good progress on Dead Space, which is awesome. Found Dogmeat in Fallout 3, went back to some games I've not played in a while (PGR4 and Stuntman Ignition) and tried some Graw 2 co-op.

Banjo Kazooie this week, looking forward to playing it for a few minutes then putting it on the pile o'shame till I've finished Dead Space. :)

The highlights of the episode is the short "Here comes the circus" and one of the host bits which is Gypsy's one woman show "Gypsy Rose Me", they were both classic. I though it was a very decent ep, good riffing on the movie.

Yeah the boxed set is very nice, the only slight problem I have with it is the box the DVD's are in is difficult to get out of the tin. The tin looks great on my shelf though and the crow figure is nice.

It's a swedish fantasy film about this chick getting kidnapped by a witch and these two dudes going to rescue her. They have to build a thing called a Sampo for the witch.Played Eternal Sonata? There's an item called the Shard of Sampo, I forget the description of it in the game, but it actually ties in to the Sampo nonsense in Day the Earth Froze. When I get back, I have to hit a library and see if there's some actual nordic sampo legends. I can't believe a localizer at bandai namco would randomly through in something like that.

Is the game/people's levels actually challenging? Some vids make it seem very simple to run through a level without much thought.

Damn it, just finished packing for my trip as it took longer to finalize my presentation for the conference than I expect. So no Gears 2 tonight as I have to be up at 6am. And no Gears until Saturday or Sunday since I'm out of town. :(

Meh, it'll be a while before it hits 40. If you really think it will be better, it's worth holding on to I guess.

DQ4 though, that would go with with TWEWY when I have to deal with my step family come thanksgiving.

It seems that's really dependent on whether people like playing through random user created levels. I've not played it (no PS3) but the concept doesn't much appeal to me as I like whole, cohesive games with some semblance of a plot to keep me playing. For instance, I've never liked extra challenge levels or things like that. Guess I don't have the attention span to play just for gameplay's sake.

Depends on what difficulty the game is set on I guess. For the most part S-links determines how much bonus EXP a persona will get when you create one. Maxing them will also unlock some more powerful Persona's later on. But your pretty early in the game so you shouldn't really be in that much trouble. But it's definitely in your best interest to start working on some atleast for the Bonus Exp.

While we're talking about Social Links, did any of you guys have a favorite Max link event? Off the top of my head I'd have to say The Hermit's max link event was probably my favorite. I was laughing pretty hard at the whole thing.
