When I play PC games on the TV though, it's usually at my usual viewing distance (like... 5-10 feet)... and stuff that you can play with a gamepad.

Yea, definitely distance is the key. But at most I'm 5 feet from my TV and 2.25 feet from my PC monitor. So even on a smaller set, I'd see the difference.

So since I"m always fairly close, I want that 1080p, especially for PC use.

We're in the process of remodeling our office/loft into a full bedroom which will contain a guest bed along with our mini-office. As part of the renovation, we're having a "media nook" built-in. I have a 26" 720p Olevia that can be used there, but eventually, I'd like to put a more up-to-date HDTV as there are no HDMI inputs on that TV. The nook can support up to a 40" set, wall-mounted. Will be nice if I ever stick another PS3 in there (for Blu-Ray). That's a while down the road though...

I have a 32'' TV.

Seems just about right for the room it's in.
32" was fine in my apartment's living room, but whenever I win the lottery, or my SDTV dies, I'll be moving that one upstairs and getting a 47-50" set for the basement. Really just so I can fill up my TV stand, it's not really a priority for what little HD content I watch.

Abaddon is a real bitch in DDS2, I finally beat him by mantra grinding for an hour so I could emulate someone's Youtube recording. Hopefully that's the last time I have to deal with him.

Edit: Uh, I guess you can't hyperlink Youtube without having the media viewer pop up. Nice. And spoilering it kills the rest of my post. Love the forum code's intelligence.

32" is fine for me, I sit about 7 or 8 feet away from it. I need to put on my glasses for some games though. The problem in upgrading for me is that I move around a lot. Hopefully the apartment I get at the beginning of law school will be the one I stay in for a few years.

TV size is all relative to what you're used to. If a 32" is the first wide screen set you've owned, then it will be sufficient.

But once you buy a bigger TV you'll never want anything smaller. Even my 50" has "shrunk" in that I've gotten used to it and it doesnt' seem that large any more and I'd kind of like something bigger as it's in a very large living room and I sit 12 feet or so away.

But I'll be moving this summer and probably to a smaller place--either to my girlfriends condo where I could only sit 6 or 7 feet away or getting my own smaller place in the city, so the size will probably be fine after that. So I have no plans to upgrade it short term. Probably wait until the bulb goes out and then decide if I want to buy a new one or just get a new TV.

But there's nothing wrong with starting smaller, especially since so many who post here are high school students, college students etc. who have tight budgets, no living room, move a lot etc. Just don't convince yourself that a 32" or whatever will always be good enough as you're missing out on a lot if you never upgrade. Having a bigger screen really adds a lot to movies, gaming, sports, TV etc.

Yeah its a projector setup. It is great for games but it really shines on blurays. Only downside is after my 5000+ hours (If it makes it that far) on the bulb and it goes out, I have to replace it ($400 right there).

There's two light, fuzzy lines going down where a 4:3 image would be cropped.
So when watching full screen content, it's fine. Watching widescreen content has the two annoying lines on there.

Dynex is top tier. Best Buy is the premier HDTV retailer, so it makes sense that they would have the best brand of HDTVs.

A bit OT, but besides hanging with my friend this week like I said earlier and playing some games with him, we're going to work on our EP. We're aiming for 5 complete songs. We have way more from just jamming, but we are going to pick the best 5 and polish them up.

It's just us right now. We need a bassist and singer. So my friend is going to lay down the bass lines and maybe sing too. That should be pretty amusing. Then we'll use the EP to get people interested in joining us.

Gaming wise, I'm going to play Gears 2 obviously, and I may start in on Fallout 3 finally, as well as my usual fighters that I play all the time.

PC mods in games are one of the reasons I wish I had a kick ass gaming rig. Some of the Fallout 3 mods have been pretty cool so far..

BTW, I think I got a free xbox 360. A guy I work with gave me a 20gb non-hdmi 360 that freezes on start up. Can I just call MS and say that it's the RROD, and get them to fix it for free? The date on the back of the system read 3/08 so it should be covered by the warranty, right?

Well so far, Persona 4 is neato. I like the setting. The rural-ness of it just makes it feel darker and more desolate, and that's what I wanted. I also dig that you can hear the rain outside of the house.

Only heard one of the songs so far, but it was good. I felt like P3 was something of a step backwards for the composer, so this seems to be a return to form. Shoji Meguro is awesome.

flOw I've played for maybe 2 minutes. Katamari, like I said, I tried to like but it was boring me. I got over halfway through though, so I gave it a decent shot. Never played electroplankton. I played the skate demo and thought it was OK. Sequel looks good though. REZ HD is bad ass and I love it. EEEE I played the demo and don't remember much.

I'm usually running low on sleep, so anything too relaxing will put me to sleep, games included. Smooth car rides get me every time, but not when I'm actually driving. :)

It's not shallow once you get into timing beats but it's not like it was meant to have super depth. I can honestly say it's the only game I've ever played a single level for 3 hours straight non stop. I was starving and I didn't realize how long it had been.

Aw man, I just found out that the new version of Nocturne that came with the new Devil Summoner game actually replaced Dante with Raidou, resulting in half the coolness. That's pretty lame. Guess I can cross that one off the list, though.

I remember getting a limited print SMT from TRU way back when it just came out for $5. never opened it and sold it 3 days later for an easy $50. That's the best the series has done for me :)

I remember seeing screens in a recent EGM. It still looked like something the DS threw up.

Well it's ugliness was confirmed as soon as they announced 3D on DS. I've never really liked 2D GTA, so I hope it plays more like the new ones.
