Who'd you get Dead Space cheap from?I really doubt it because if it's an SCEA retail game, they are pretty anal over sharing on PS3 (which is why GT5P won't work and Warhawk, unless things change. SingStar music cannot be shared either). A lot of it has to do with they cannot price a download lower than retailers or that will anger them (they are around to sell products, and when someone can buy it elsewhere for a lower price, usually doesn't make them happy). But who knows, that's just what I know.

I haven't decided which SOCOM I'll get. I'll probably buy the disc only for $40. I need to save money right now, and I already have a terrific USB headset (everyone says I usually have the clearest voice quality), so I'll just save $20.

Push through! The first chapter was my least favorite. The game only gets better. Beat it, then sell it. Otherwise you will miss out on seriously the best story I've seen in a game in years. YEARS!

I just had the coolest crash ever in burnout. Was going full speed, and smashed head on into a van. For some reason the van shot me in the air, I flipped like 5 times, and took out a street sign.

You have to refer yourself then dual box both characters. Everything is 3x xp (kills and quests). The account that got referred can grant 1 level every 2 levels gained to the account that referred them. They have to be together (and within 3 levels of each other) to get the bonus and it stops at level 60.

You don't necessarily have to dual box. My co-worker invited me and I just did a new account. We are splitting the cost of the game and time card. You and the referer need to group together and do quest turn ins together to get the bonus.

It lasts for 90 days, so you could do multiple characters as well.

I have to say, it's very fast. Level 31 over 4 days of not really playing that much. Got my first mount, too.

Up to 10K XP on certain quest turn ins. There's even faction bonuses. I think I may finally end up with a lvl 60 toon this time. :p

GTA4 is the next evolution of the series, in a sense. They tried to innovate and re-imagine things, to make things new and fresh and more... epic, i guess? It probably belongs in the drama genre, if something existed for games.

SR and SR2 are like the crass/over-the-top offspring spawned from GTA: SA. To me, SR2 feels like a next gen San Andreas, and that's not a bad thing. I still loathe the respect system, as I'm not happy when a game forces me to play it's minigames, whether I enjoy them or not. I don't have as much of a problem with this in SR2, as they've added more variety, dropped the number of levels per occurrence, and dropped the number of occurrences. Nothing frustrated me more about SR than trying to complete all the activities. I got so pissed, I started trying to do all of one activity just to close them out, and my frustration grew enough that I immediately sold the game. SR2 also adds the element of rewarding you for every 3 activities completed, so that makes it better as well.

I didn't enjoy GTAIV. I think because I didn't feel like I could get my $60 out of it. It was neat, but I know I didn't give it a fair chance, but I know I'll purchase it again later on when it's cheaper.

Saints Row's respect system isn't that much of an annoyance to me. For me it really helps build my attitude towards my gang and gang members. I get all in to it, and I really don't feel that way with many games. I think it adds a 4th dimension, making you want to tag where you can and kill other gang members on site and add as much new turf as you can. I think it just makes it more immersive. But I can see how it would be a pain in the ass too. But I mean, answering cell phone calls and going on dates could be considered a pain as well 8-)

OT: Sucks so far with Socom that I haven't been able to play a single round yet. After fighting with it to sign me in, I had a half gig patch to download (with my slow crappy 512k connection that sucks). Now I can't get past the annoying network initialization screen. What was beta even for if they didn't stress the servers some to make sure they could handle the load. :bomb: :bomb:

Tried the Brothers in Arms demo on Live last night, didn't like it at all. I thought it would be like a WWII version of R6 Vegas, but it wasn't. I was bored with it after about 10 mins.

Speaking of demos, I played the Eternal Sonata demo on PSN last night. I thought it was very well done for an RPG demo. I died at the boss though. I am really impressed with the art and combat. I didn't know what to expect since I don't read up much on 360 games. But now I am adding it to my list of PS3 games to get.

The combat in the Eternal Sonata demo on the 360 was the bee's knees. Was like a refined star ocean 3... which I loved. And the art was good. I just wasn't quite into the village portion of the demo. :\ Puts me on the fence about whether I'd like the story enough to play through.

Anyone in the COD5 beta? I played a few rounds last night and I'm amazed at how the quality seems to have dropped from COD4... though I'm partial to the modern warfare angle, it just seemed like COD4 with lots of bugs and really bad skinning. (The environments looked pretty good though...) I haven't gotten to try the flamethrower yet... Maybe that will spark some interest... though the bugs in the nazi trainyard... :bomb:

I've been playing the beta and bugs aside, I think it is pretty good. It definitely isn't as appealing to me as CoD4 is, but for people who have been playing CoD4 since launch, it is probably enough of a change to warrant a purchase. I only bought CoD4 used a few months ago so it is still relatively fresh to me.

That being said, playing the War mode has been pretty fun but I absolutely suck with any weapon but the Thompson. I've gotten the aperture sight for it and it makes a huge difference.

The gas grenades are cool and I like that they have perks to negate (or tone down) the effects of most of the different grenades (gas mask, flak jacket, shades). I also like the perk that allows you to revive fallen team members but I haven't actually used it yet.

I don't think I will get World at War simply because I prefer a modern setting and modern weaponry and I'm still playing CoD4 pretty regularly at this point, but I think it is a pretty solid game thus far.

I abused the hell out of the respect system, knowing it's flaws...
I maxed out my style ASAP and have a style level of 6 or 7, so I currently have something like 50x respect and like 10 missions left (without the prologue).

At least the perks/unlockables make it worth it. I'm sailing through the game with the perk I got from finishing my first hitman list.

No activity location goes past 6.
Things unlock at the halfway point and at completion.
Examples:
First mayhem location: after 3 - 5% off crib upgrades; after 6 - 15% off crib upgrades
Fight Club by Ultor Dome: after 3 - 15% more melee damage; after 6 - 30% more melee damage
Hitman: 1 list - super auto shotgun w/ unlimited ammo, 3 lists - satchel charges at home, 5 lists ... I forget.

Ok here's an idea....here's my main gripe with the threads. You guys change them to some silly ridiculous title every 500posts. There's no need for this as CAG can currently handle more than 500posts. How about we have the following threads:

General Gaming: Fighters
General Gaming: RPG's
General Gaming: Shootem Ups

this way as new users show up, there wont be any confusion since they won't see threads like "Yo bitch I Kicked your moms ass last night while she was giving me a BJ at Fighting Thread #XVII"

Keep them going for as long as you want, or keep them numbered but keep the same title to avoid confusion.

Speaking of demos, I played the Eternal Sonata demo on PSN last night. I thought it was very well done for an RPG demo. I died at the boss though. I am really impressed with the art and combat. I didn't know what to expect since I don't read up much on 360 games. But now I am adding it to my list of PS3 games to get.It was my favorite RPG on 360. I loved it a lot, I just sold my copy not too long ago (got almost all my money back) so I can now buy it on PS3. I can't wait. :D

I agree that some of the titles were dumb and embarrassing, but most of the titles were fine. it makes things a little more interesting, but no, it's not really a huge deal.

Of course, the thread linkin actually posts in, the OTT, has had retarded thread titles forever. "LOL Darthbudge something something is fat blah caqui pants and that one girl has huge tits and its funny blah OTT." Yet its immune.

anyway, the issue is how he decided to just merge everything instead without discussing anything and the embarrassing logic he used to justify it. I have two pre-orders for LBP so I got the codes for DLC and yet I'm not really interested in it after watching all those youtube videos and hearing people complain about the controls.

The post count cap was a limit of the old board/server. It's kind of what spawned the whole custom thread title/weird names thing. Just a fun thing to do, but I agree sometimes the names were awkward and inappropriate (but not my one shot at it of course).

MM's trip wasn't a secret, but even though he's not in the US, he does have sporadic time/opportunity to post here while abroad and his last post expressing his displeasure with the recent thread activies was never followed up on--anyone who assumed he was going to follow through with his remarks isn't completely crazy.

I'm almost completely over Little Big Planet. I have decided I'd rather buy a game that is well designed and thought out by professionals than one that thrives on what the average videogame player can come up with. (Having worked videogame retail, I can tell you it's not good)

Maybe if they let you change how sackboy looks(Beyond a superficial level) or plays in an update, i'll consider it, but until then the levels felt too limited by his short hops and sluggish physics.

99% of the user created levels are going to be boring, broken, or gimmicky crap like the calculator that is just gimped, LBP versions of things that already work for less than $60 in other ways.

Yeah, for sure. Most of his complaints I can explain away, but if the karma system is as cut and dry as that, I'll be very disappointed. Being able to ruin your reputation PERMANENTLY gave your actions weight in Fallout 1 and 2 and lacking that, It's going to feel very hollow and very FPS-like, where every random person is expendable/not real.

Getting away with doing bad things in Fallout was half the fun.. If you can just get away with it anytime, then who cares?

Can't say I was overly interested in Fallout 3 meets Oblivion, as I was big on the magic system in Oblivion and I don't think there's a equivalent, or the place for it, in Fallout 3.

Shipping is the pain in the ass about selling GH games online. Shipping runs about 12 for parcel post and upwards of 16 for priority.

I think you can sell GH2 (ps2) for probably 30? Not sure how to accomodate shipping on that one. GH3 game only sells for cheeeeeap, but you could probably get a decent amount for a good condition les paul -- probably 40 total on the GH3 set? I dunno...

Exactly the problem with a lot of these games that give you morality choices. You can slaughter a whole town, then come in with chocolates for everyone (who somehow sprang back to life during the load screen), which makes everything okay.

When I first heard about it, I thought "who gives a fuck".
Then I warmed to it for some reason and said "I want to see the gameplay".
I watched the video posted about a month back where Isaac takes on a miniboss along with some video of the weapons being used and thought "looks horrible, no thanks".
Then LP asked about it, so I went to find a video to show him what it was about and came across some G4 special or something and got to watch part of chapter 6 -- while the combat seemed way frequent for a survival horror-shit your pants type of game, the preview with the dev changed my mind... i've been foaming at the mouth for it for a bit now, but it'll probably be a little bit before i get to play it. :\

Konami said they made Rock Revolution to just use a GH3 guitar instead of trying to make their own (easier on me). I already have more than enough guitars and don't need more. I was just going to buy a standalone copy one day and just have another guitar game to play, that's all. I don't care about vocals because I already have SingStar for that (I rarely use vocals on RB because it messes me up in SingStar the next time I play, and I greatly prefer SingStar for singing). RB is great for the other stuff IMO.

Sales numbers don't reflect on quality. Look at the most popular music and movies. They are usually trash. The PS3 will definitely be better than Gamecube in the long run. The only plus I've ever found to any RB guitar is that the larger frets make for less hand cramping when shifting my hand -- can't stand them though. I'm interested in checking out the GH:WT guitar for sure though -- don't care about the slide neck, but I do care they seem to have fixed the loose connection inducing neck design.

10000 x 0 = 0. After my experience with EA customer service regarding my fender strat, I will never willingly purchase a EA/Rockband peripheral again. I use the les paul from GH3 when I play RB, but if the GH:WT guitar has the improved fret buttons, I may have to get the guitar bundle for the game. YF360G will have to bail me out again.

Red Octane seems to be the quality peripheral maker, though their drums look like garbage. I think the only potentially solid drumkit is the ION at $300.

It's apples to oranges really. I like the controller layout a little more, but what's not to say you can't just remap the controls to your liking.

The only reason I didn't get it on 360 is because me and the box are fighting. I've been red ringed too many times to invest the majority of my gaming on it. So I'm just using it for Xbox exclusives these days. :-( @ not being able to be gangmates.

Just played through the first 45 mins of Dead Space (got it from TRU with Saints Row 2 and Fifa 09) and my early impression is......awesome.

It totally makes up for having the fucking Agony Scene on the soundtrack.

I am near the end of Dragon Quest 4, what a great, great JRPG.

Seriously, the battles take like 2 seconds. Torneko is hilarious, the characters have charm, and it's fun to explore the world. Pretty well written too. The story is simple, and doesn't try anything too crazy, and the graphics are great for DS.

I'm going to see if I enjoy DQ8 after this. Can't wait for the next DS Dragon Quest though. I like the style DQ4 was done in.

It depends. If my chars are over leveled for the monsters I will clear the floor. But I usually just run for the portal unless there is a resident. Also, does anyone know what transmigration is in this game? Is it the same thing as reincarnation? I wanna start making badass characters. I am 36 hours in and loving it.

Seriously? I've put maybe 20 minutes into the very first one when I found a cart of it at Sals. I was entertained. Maybe not to the point where I could put in like 40 hours, but it was a good time killer.

Not really much to say. I hate DQ and have been very vocal about it. I find the games boring as all hell. Now I haven't played DQIV, so maybe it is really good. Problem is that every other game in that series that I've played has been a pile of crap. So I'm not going to bother even trying IV.

Ahadi play DQ4. It's considerably easier than the NES ones, and it's been tuned for a more modern sensibility. Playing it portable really adds to the experience too. Being able to flip open the DS when I've got 10 min to play and level my characters a few times is nice.

I also have to say that not dying when your party dies is a great feature. You just get booted back to the last church with half your gold. So much better than having to go to the title screen and re-load and re-play a bunch of crap.

DragonBall is shitty and very generic, but his Dragon Quest characters and monsters are great. They're for sure a nice change of pace from Nomura's zippers and leather bullshit. Also much more variety than your typical animu crew in a JRPG.
