Howdy GGT. Been having some computer problems recently, as well as some issues with Comcast.

Played more Xenosaga 2. I've been doing several of the sidequests the last couple days before tackling the last dungeon. Hopefully I'll have the game beaten this weekend.

Big week for releases next week. What's everyone getting? I'm only gonna pick up Eternal Sonata (PS3) and Castlevania OoE (DS).

Well since LBP was delayed what is worth buying? Thinking of Fable 2 but Dead Space and SR2 came out and haven't gotten to play some older games now. Everyones opinion? LBP delay...it's not so much about PS3 fans getting screwed because they are still getting the game. It's more about a potentially significant fubar with Sony's marketing/sales plans because now the game gets to follow Gears2 and get lost with all that other shit and drops next month. The PS3 fans are going to buy the game no matter when it comes out. Yes, Sony is really the one that is going to take it up the butt, if anything.

But then, I dunno if LBP is really a system seller anyway.

I dont think they are at all, if they are they're aiming at the wrong audience. This game is very hardcore, the amount of time and planning it takes to build a level has a very steep learning curve.

I don't think this is really a "bad" spoiler, but at some point late in the game, you will need to replay the entire game up until that point with a different character. If you can get over that, you might enjoy it beyond the demo.

Okay. That's good to know. I think I'm going to spend a few hours grinding my guys up to 15> just for good measure and then I'll be ahead of the curve for a few chapters.

Threw in about 3 hours worth of Saints Row. So good. Now I think I'm going to watch Stargate(I never seen it before!) and try and paint the rest of my Warhammer figures. Then maybe some Soul Calibur or more Saints Row.

I decided to pop in GTA IV. It was fun for a bit. I jacked a heli and landed on the top of the Flatiron building. I walked to the edge to have a look around, tried to turn around and Niko walked off of the edge. It was bad ass. Nah, it's more like they don't understand the language. Good thing they had a beta and someone brought it to Sony's attention or the game might've gone out that way.

It's as much a cultural thing as it is religious. Having the Qur'an taken out of context is a big deal to Muslims and Sony is doing the right thing by not treating it lightly--they really couldn't afford to considering how big the European PS3 market is.

Rented Dead Space. Only in the first chapter but real good so far.

Went and saw Max Payne with some friends. It's not horrible, but not great. I'd say 6/10. Some of the dialogue was laughable, as was some of the acting, and the story was pretty much shit, but enough cool stuff happened it didn't matter.

Despite the fact that Mother 3 can legally be bought, how can the only way to play it be to download it? Because it isn't released in the US?

You still have to apply the patch, which involves a ROM. So on that grounds, you have to pirate just to apply the patch and play it.

It's black and white for some people, and gray for others. Imports are only meant to be sold in their native country usually, hence region lockouts. We can talk about Mother 3, as long as we are talking about the Japanese version and not a translated version, even though Mother 3 was never intended to be sold outside of Japan.

Not in Nintendo's eyes. Most everything else, minus console and most PC games, you are allowed a backup for archival purposes only, and even that isn't always the case.

I love, love, love Disgaea myself, but didn't get the PSP port since I don't have that handheld. Knew I had to pick up Disgaea DS once I learned it had the PSP version's Etna Mode.

Sad that I won't be able to play Disgaea 3 (even though Disgaea 2's story wasn't as good as the first game's) or the Prinny platformer without buying new hardware :-( Hoping for a 360 port of Disgaea 3 at the very least.

I wouldn't really consider those downsides unless you are really into it. Also I'm still surprised they added more voice acting to the DS version. I seem to recall the Japanese version having very little of it.

All this Disgaea talk makes me want to go back and play some... I'll probably go unlock Pleinair. I'll just get the Midboss ending since thats the easiest way to do it. Or maybe I'll sink more time in to Disgaea 3....

I personally don't care about those changes - the music quality has also suffered some, which is a disappointment for me, but only a minor one. Some people consider those types of things deal-breakers, though, so I just thought I'd mention them.

So I'm really very pleased with Oblivion in general even though it's a buggy mess. Surprising, as I don't typically like western RPGs. Diablo didn't excite me, never finished Planescape: Torment (for some reason the difficulty became impossible,) Jade Empire was very much nothing special, and Ultima IV or VI or whatever I had was just boring.

Don't know the answer to the first question (Though keep in mind that it is suggested that you talk to everyone in order to get the most out of the storyline, not doing so would mean that you miss out on some humorous lines or minor side character sub-plots), but as for your second question...

No, you don't need to play Earthbound before playing Mother 3. All of the stories in the Mother series are pretty self-contained, and Mother 3 is no exception. Just like in Earthbound (Compared to the original Famicom/NES game), there are one or two returning characters, but you don't need to know their backgrounds extensively in order to enjoy the storyline.

:shrugs: Doesn't really matter to me who was at fault. I kinda felt it was inevitable (and maybe a little warranted) for the mods to come in , crack down and straigten things out , I just think the way it was handled was kinda poor.

As far as mods posting in the OTT goes (Linkin or anyone else) , at least it shows some camaraderie that doesn't really show up here since the only mod that regularly visits here is Gwen (which I certenly don't have a problem with).

I hated the story. Hated it. I didn't give a crap about the politics or the zodiac or any of it. The SRPG stuff was ok, and if it managed to keep my attention until I beat the game, I'll give it credit for being pretty good. As a huge FF7 fanboy, at the time, getting cloud in my party was definitely cool. :)

Hell, crossovers are the whole reason I gave Kingdom Hearts a chance. And I think that's where crossovers ceased being a draw. Thanks a lot disney/square. :[

The first Drakengard has an amazing story. Fuck the reviews because as usual reviewers are morons. Basically the entire game is about Caim's, the main character, descent into madness when he's left with nothing but his vengeance. Everything in the game is used to convey this. From Caim himself who become more and more unhinged (one level has you killing child soldiers begging you to spare their lives as your own companions beg you to stop), to the music which becomes more off-key and messed up as you go on, to the levels and enemies which get more twisted. Your party members include an insane woman who murders and eats children and a blind pedophile. Caim's sister, who you spend most of the game trying to rescue, wants more than anything to have sex with her brother. After admitting it, she promptly kills herself.

I could go on, but the point is that Drakengard's story was excellent, mature, and deep. Sadly the second game is nowhere near as good, and it's quite clear it was dumbed down for the mainstream. You should still play it if you like the first game, but prepare to be disappointed.

I got so pulled into it. yes, the game does have obvious flaws, but i can't say why I loved it. I guess I love the grinding aspects as well as how unfair the game feels. supposedly valhalla 2 fixed some of that.

I finished both and I go with Jeanne. As for best story from Square Enix, that goes to Drakengard.
You know I played Drakengard, mostly for the story, and I didn't really like it.

Yep. At least the Hori Fighter Stick 3 (aka the SCIV stick) on the PS3 works with Gulity Gear, KOF, Tekken 5, SF and Soul Calibur 3. I'd assume it works with most (but probably all) other games.

Pulled out more books out of the garage, gonna sell them today. I've almsot sold enough to make RB2 60 bucks out of pocket. Since I'm skipping fallout, it all works out. Probably goign to wait on fable till my birthday, because rock band is seriously going to fucking own my life.

I slept on it, and I want the RB2 set. I looked up the problems with the drums online, and it doesn't seem to be affecting a ton of people. I like that the cymbals are optional so I shoudl be able to play RB2 without them and then GH WT with them. I loved the rock band guitar that I played with at walmart (I'll finally be able to do shit on expert easily again) and I really don't think the world tour one will be better. If it is I'll pick it up later so I can have a full set. Anyone wanna talk me out of it?

They gave me $25 for Ace Combat. Considering I got it at a 2/30 sale and never really touched it, I was happy.
I traded in 11 games for 169.20. Picked up Dead Space and NHL 09 (44.99 each, free with trade credit) and I have $70 left which gives me enough to fully pay-off both LBP AND FABLE II :)

Ended up getting a Wii from my cousin for $150 :hot: Comes with 2 wiimotes and nunchucks, charger stand for the controllers, wii sports, link's crossbow training and the wii zapper. Damn good deal and that is what he offered to sell it for, no negociations or anything. What are some good games to pick up? I picked up a point card and no more heroes so far. It has super mario 64 and paper mario on it so far.
