Agreed. You have to play VF like you're actually a martial artist. There is little luck when it comes to winning and losing. It's all knowing how to use your fighter's moves effectively to get out of a pinch.

I wonder how it would hold up today as well. I played the shit out of it back in the day, got gold medals on everything, and a few platinum. But of course I had more patience back then and there wasn't much to play on the N64 around that time and it was the only console I had at the time.

VF: every move seems to be fully thought out in terms of evasion and frames, and is more technical in that sense. not very flashy.

Tekken: flashy, featuring electricity and explosions when people get hit. emphasis on landing big juggle combos. movement is essential to winning.

Good evasion skills and blocking are absolutely key in that game, and parrying too! Its more of a defensive game until you get that oh shit! 35% combo or whatever thrown out.

It actually reminds me of marvel in that sense, since its like run run run bulldog offense cross up block block block OH SHIT....there goes magneto!

I found my long lost copy of Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast on PC! Can't wait to throw it on my PC this weekend and play through it again since it's been so long. This is the game that TFU should have been.

I thought TFU was more frustrating than it needed to be. It's like the devs thought having kick ass Force powers was too unbalanced so they put in all this frustrating BS in to make more "challenging" instead of concentrating on making good boss fights. I wouldn't not have mind plowing through hordes of puny rebels or clueless Storm Troopers LucasArts--really, it would've been kick ass just exploring all the different uses of the Force to kill and maim those scrubs so I could have more tactics to use against the Jedis/Sith.

Street Fighter games are more like Tekken than VF, at least from my viewpoint. There aren't a lot of dragonpunches or fireballs or charge moves in VF... some of the more complex moves have similarities (the impossible to input commands), but it's not like there are an arsenal of them.

I agree with this. Dodging, countering... I never got good at the parrying, but I do tend to play defense until I see an opening then I drop the hammer on some sort of offensive barrage.

It's true for the first Ninja Gaiden...one of the least broken games around, imo. Ninja Gaiden II is not made for high level play, however, and is almost completely broken...too easy on normal, too cheap on hard + MN. But if you're losing on normal, you're terrible--it has weaknesses not unlike this fabled shitty Genesis game (street smarts?) One move to take down almost everything.

While it's technically the second online 3D fighter, MKDeception's online set up was pretty basic and its leaderboards were borked within the first week thanks to droppers. But it's telling that Tekken 5, SC4, SF2:Turbo, and SF2HDR use something similar to Ultimate's set up...though those game don't have ranked lobbies, iirc.

I really enjoyed DOA2 and 4. I never really got into 3 so much but it was good too.

i know best buy's starts after the 90day factory warrenty (well used to at least). Before October you were able to take back your defective product and be able to upgrade also...now i believe you can only get the same product. they also test it when you try to return it.

Just traded a DS Lite to gamestop towards a SFIV TE stick :) Had a custom firmware PSP, but it didn't really hold my attention. I think I've played through just about everything I've wanted to play on the DS/PSP.

I don't get why people think you need an HDTV to enjoy this gen. I'm still in SD and I enjoy my games just as much as anyone gaming on a Kuro Elite.

Trial mode makes me happy, because I want to get legit at SF4.
Here's the thing with that. Before I went HD I thought the same thing. I was perfectly happy playing in SD, and didn't think I needed to upgrade. But once I went HD there's just no going back. I can't even imagine how I played my 360 or PS3 on a SD set.

Games are still fun in SD for sure. But playing on an HDTV makes them that much better--graphics are a lot of the experience these days.

Especially if you go from a smaller SDTV to a big HDTV. I went from a 27" to a 50", so it just made a huge difference. HD, widescreen and a larger TV add a lot to the immersion factor.

Far Cry 2 is amusing, but nothing I'd take serious. It's the definition of "reach exceeds grasp". I've only played a few hours of it, but the guns are weak, the AI is weak, and it feels like it needed to be more focused as a whole. Again, I've only played a few hours of it, so. . .

My Dad started playing L4D when I was back in the UK, I wasn't home at the time but he had to stop playing it cos he ended up on the subway tracks and couldn't find the jump button to get onto the platform :lol:

Have you played Crysis? I'm wondering how the open world stuff/AI in FC2 compares. If FC2 isn't good, I'll just play Crysis again.
Yep. FC2 is more "open" as in, more land to explore, more little shit to do, etc. It's also more "immersive", like everything in that game is done first person. Looking at maps, driving, getting malaria, etc. The AI is somewhere below Crysis's boneheaded South Park Koreans, but not far from them. The guns feel weak as hell, and you have to repair them whenever you pick them up, becaue the enemies only carry shitty guns. ;)

Play Crysis if you want more solid gunplay and gameplay. Play Far Cry 2 if you want to explore Africa, get sick, drive around, and shoot dudes with weak ass weapons. There's plenty to do in Far Cry 2, but most of it isn't very solid IMO.

Again, I've only played FC2 for 3 hours or so, and I've finished Crysis and Warhead. Take that for what it's worth.

Wow, Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts is so much fun.

I haven't seen such fun to explore places since Mario 64. This game makes me smile. Can't say that about a lot of games.

Far Cry 2 is awesome. It's just a huge game with a bit too few things to do. It's a lot like assassin's creed in that way. Huge, expansive world, but the things you do in it are not as fun as some other games.

Play it slowly over time and you'll enjoy it. Try to finish it in a week and it'll wear on you fast. I've put in about 20 hours and I'm probably halfway done, and been playing it off and on since it came out. Defnietly a slow burn game. Assassin's Creed was the same way and I really enjoyed it as well.

The Amazing Colossal Man was the last EP I watched, it's a Joes season 3, not bad but the movie gets a bit boring in the middle so J&TB don't have much to work with.

I also picked up that Rifftrax Shorts DVD, it wasn't bad.

Tonight I'm gonna watch the lastest Cinematic Titanic ep "Frakensteins Castle of Freaks"

I also watched the one about the Air Force pilots but I can't remember the name of it. It was God awful though. Even with the MST3k treatment.

I'm thinking tonight maybe I'll watch The Girl with Gold Boots, Time Chasers, and/or Boggy Creek II.
