Soo.. I'm on the final boss of Persona 3 and how do you even do this shit? I get to his final form the death arcana and then he absolutely destroys me. I'm level 70 using garuda to heal with mediarama + divine grace. I'm getting tired of this as fighting a final boss that has this many forms just gets annoying. Overall because of the final boss I give Persona 3 a 6/10 Was a 9 but I really dislike annoying final bosses :bomb:

Going to play more Fallout 3, NBA2K9, and maybe some GTI Club, if anyone wants to jump online. Also might do a little bit of handheld action too if I have time.

Also a new headset that I can use with my arcade stick, so I should be able to talk in ST games soon.

I really want The Colour and the Shape RB DLC, if any of you cats wants to get a group together.

Not sure what my gaming plans this weekend are. I just got back from see Repo 3 days in a row, so I'm a bit tired...
So I played Tony Hawk 1 & 2 at the time when they came out. Then on reccomendation of the GGT I picked up Tony Hawk 3 recently and have been playing it. I enjoyed all 3.
Should I pick up either game in the Skate series?
If so should I jump right into Skate 2 or pick up the original Skate for cheap first?

Would like to get some Oblivion in (need to get started on Shivering Isles), but don't know if I'll get around to any gaming this weekend. Last night was movie and bar, tonight is dinner and drinks, tomorrow is football (or the free concert in DC if I decide to brave the crowd).

It seems that I have possibly another gallery show mid February. Fuck... too much stuff to do and all I want to do is play SFIV, Skate 2, and Killzone 2... :bomb:

KingBroly
01-17-2009, 01:53 PM
You know...I think I might actually skip all the big releases in February. I mean, I basically need $100 to get SFIV (I would like it on 360, and as we all know, D-pad and I would like one of those controller pads) and while Killzone 2 looks great, I just can't help but look at my back catalog of games I need to beat. But nothing is going to stop me from getting Resident Evil 5, however.

It's going to take alot to make me play RE5, though I expect it to be awesome for everyone.
Looking forward to Bionic Commando, though I care for it alot less than Rearmed... I'm glad you can play in the old RAD costume at least instead of the dreadlocks... due to that and the fact that I have Rearmed on PS3, I'll be getting it on PS3.

01-17-2009, 03:22 PM
I don't plan on buying any early 2009 games around launch--maybe FEAR2 if it gets good reviews and there's a deal.
Will just finish off Oblivion and wait to get matched up for some of the fall games on Goozex (Fable 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, Left for Dead etc.), and if that's a while I'll maybe finally get around to re-playing Mass Effect or Bioshock.
I'm a bit burnt out on games as I played a lot more than I had in years from Oct 2007 (when I got a 360) through last month. Couple that with being busy with work, dissertation and social stuff and I'm having a hard time getting motivated to do a lot of gaming. Just been playing one or two nights a week lately.

Is the PS2 version of Killer 7 worse than the GC version? Better? Same?
Both are on sale for $6.99 at the best Used Store in Canada. They pretty much laugh at you if you don't hand them a game/movie/cd that isn't in mint condition/isn't complete.

Anyway, last night I played some R2 Co-op with CAGs and it was a lot of fun. Outside of that I've been playing MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. I'm mostly trying to convert my Bronze and Silver's to Gold right now, then I'll play more Rank 7 events. It's definitely getting pretty tough. I still need to play BioShock and Dead Space more. I'm still debating about keeping Halo 3. I'd love to keep it, but sometimes I think I'm better off putting $30 back in my pocket (because I just mostly play R2 co-op now, and I'm buying KZ2 on release, and I dunno if I'll be playing Halo 3 online (well, not until I get back on XBL Gold, which is still my plan anytime soon)). I also need to play some PSP games since I need to invest more time in Star Ocean: First Departure. I need to play Kingdom Hearts: CoM Remix since I haven't touched it since Christmas day (I just don't play PS2 very much).

I'm kind of torn on it.I didn't get the demo. I'd probably love it because I enjoyed Sony Bend's other creations a lot (both Syphon Filter games on PSP, even without two analog sticks). I still need to play it. I want to get the game, but have to wait because I can only buy so much (KZ2, SO4, SFIV, etc. are my priority to buy).

Just get the GC remake. RE on the PS1 was a bad game, and it's aged horribly. So basically, playing the DS version wouldn't give you more of an appreciation for the GC game -- it'd just make you not want to play it. REmake is an excellent game, however, and still really, really fun today.

Well it's been about 2-3 weeks since my PS3 quit reading disks. I took it apart once to clean the laser(didn't work), I think I will try the service menu in the system and see if that works, if not I will be hunting down a new laser. I can save about $70 or more by doing it myself. Plus you never know what type of system they could send me back..

It might not be the laser. It might be the bluray drive controller. That's what shit the bed on mine to cause it to stop reading discs.
Sony sent me my original PS3 back. Turnaround was 24 hours or less once they actually had the unit. (Getting them the unit and getting it back was a different story...)

HL2 starts out great, then I got kinda bored for a couple hours, then my enjoyment of it exponentially grew through the ending. then the episodes kick so much ass. Too bad we won't get Ep.3 for another 5 years. Probably a worse cliffhanger than, say, the after credits part of BG+E.

Amazing. I still play it a few times a week with people. Yeah, the PC version is "better" but the 360 one still exists. And it's a completely viable (and different) game than the PC one.
The PC one feels a lot more hectic and random. The 360 one feels more tactical? Something about having less players. I don't think one is better than the other, they're just different.

The people I play with regularly all were met randomly on Xbox Live matches. That kinda thing can happen when it's easy to add friends and invite people across all games. The PS3 version of TF2 never got the few updates that the 360 one did either, so it's netcode is even more broken and there are even more map exploits. Not to mention that 99/100 people on PSN have no headset.
Don't blame the game for your inability to recognize good players and make friends.
I played the PC version with my 360 controller too and did just fine as a soldier, rocket jumping and all. Scout is a bit tougher.
I was playing Sniper on 360 just yesterday and had like 15 headshots and was 55-15 k/d. Controller is nearly at parity with mouse/kb, these days, IMO.

I feel as if praising dual-stick controllers is going to cause DMK to show up. Like the candyman.
I forgot that RPG's could be exciting. After rightfully getting my ass whooped by the 2nd to last boss about 7 times in a row in Eternal Sonata, I somehow pulled out a victory with an unconventional strategy. It required a lot of good timing, and my heart was pumping by the end. Sooo satisfying.
Might pick up Resistance 2 on the way home. I want to try the online, and I feel as if no one will play it anymore once Killzone 2 hits. I would feel bad that buying it would delay me from playing Gears 2, but that needs a patch anyway, right?

I suck balls with keyboard mouse control. If ever got a desire to play FPS on a PC I'd definitely play with a 360 controller. The mouse part is fine, but I never could get very proficient with the keyboard part.
Oh well, as noted before I have little interest in PC gaming anyway, so moot point for me.
Though I suck at 360 FPSs online as well, I at least do ok on the single player/co-op campaigns, where as with the few PC FPS games I've played I've often just set the difficulty to easy to compensate for my suckiness with the controls.

I could never be good at them. I just don't have the attention span or the competitive spirit with gaming to take the time to really learn the maps and strategies etc. Practicing to get good just isn't fun to me. So I just play some online and have fun even though I generally suck most matches (just having a positive k/d ratio is a good match for me).
But in general I spend my limited gaming time mainly on single player games and just beat one and move on to the next. Variety is the spice of life.

You can flip anything on eBay but with all the fees and crap that happen nowdays, I dunno if you'd really want to go that route anymore.
But yeah, as far as the Agetec DC stick, IMO it's the best stick made for DC, so it should sell just fine.
I'd keep it for myself personally, as I still play my DC.

Hard to say--looks like they are currently selling for about $75-80 shipped, but it's eBay, I'd rather not deal with their shit personally. Maybe you could set a price on Amazon or do craigslist or something, if you really wanted to make a few bucks off it. But if it were me, I'd keep it. The Agetec stick is quite good for DC--maybe a notch better than a PS2 stick with adapter, depending on what brand IMO (MM is free to dispute me on this, of course).

I think I'm going to trade in Gears 2, LBP, Resistance 2, Rock Band, and Culdcept Saga to get a nice stack of credit. That would get me Street Fighter IV and maybe Fallout 3. Goozex is another option but the lines are sooo long.
I might do the trade 3 thing, but I can't find 3 games I'm willing to trade away. Surprisingly, I'm still at a stage where I'm happy with what I got.

Also just played the Lord of the Rings Conquest single player demo. Not terrible, but I'm not a big fan of the hectic, button mashing combo heavy action games, but had to check it out since I love LOTR. Doubt I'll pick up the game though.

Ar Tonelico 2 comes out tomorrow! I'm pretty excited.
Also decided that starting about a week ago I'm going to play one game from backlog until I finish it. The game right now is Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. I really like it so far, but the fighting is horrific. Don't know why they even included it in a point and click game.
Good plan. My backlog game right now is Dark Cloud 2.
I'll play a little of it after my Fallout 3 session... >_<

Finally got around to playing the Dead Space demo....and promptly deleted the game from my Goozex requests (it was on Hold as I wasn't sure if I wanted it).
Not sure why I ever bothered since I hate hard games and don't care much for survival horror. :p
It wasn't *that* hard... they just picked a stupid section to use as a demo.
That was the first hard part I got to, and I think it was in chapter 3. Part of it is strategery, where you have to get a high vantage point, use statis and kinetics, and have good aim. But the demo is poorly representative of the whole game.

Yeah, I have this problem. Luckily, I got the main PS2 titles I need to play down to Odin Sphere (sealed) and Final Fantasy 12 (opened but never started). I think the GCN only needs me to play Paper Mario: TTYD, as I've sold all the rest. I have bully for PS2 and 360, but will only resort back to the PS2 version if the 360 game glitches on me enough. :\ I will give myself credit though -- last year, I played a bunch of PS2 games in the beginning of the year... got MGS3, DMC3, and GoW2 out of the way...

Because it's awesome. I've been to see it 5 times in theaters. My friends and I have been to all the road tour showings on the east coast. Just last Thursday we went to see it in MA, then drove down to NJ the next day to catch it again, then drove back up to RI the next day to see it a third time. I've met the director and actors multiple times. We love Repo!

Dead Space is quality, and I despise most survival horror games.
Downloading that free suit from release week helped in that regard. I never had to worry about inventory slots, my most despised cliche from that genre.
Once I was free of the inventory burden('should I drop this for this?'), it played like an action game.

I really feel like Dead Space is more Gears of War than Survival Horror, but it still has a good "creepy" atmosphere. and the sections in vacuum are breathtakingly exhilarating (sorry.)
Started Playing through Resistance: Fall of Man today, after it took me an hour to play through the demo because I died constantly. I'm fairly interested in the story, even though its typical sci-fi stuff. Maybe its because its set in the 1950's.

How is it on ammo levels? I hate games where you have to budget ammo and can get screwed if you get to a spot without enough ammo. So that worried me given how much shooting there was in just that one room in the demo.
But I probably didn't give it a fair shake as I was really playing the demo kind of hoping I wouldn't like it and could drop it from goozex as my gaming time has shrunk drastically again and I don't want to build a backlog.

It depends on what the setting is. I played it on easy and only ran low on ammo once for my plasma cutter. I know the ammo the ammo count is exremely low on hard and Nightmare(?) settings. Also the game is pretty good about giving you ammo for whatever weapons you carry with you at the time.

I played through on normal. I only ran low a few times, but the catch is like Chibi says, it gives you ammo, mostly, for the weapons you carry. I only carried the plasma cutter. So it was pretty good about giving me ammo for it.
Worst case, you sell the ammo at the next store/station thing and buy a shit-ton of ammo for your favorite weapon. It's what I constantly did. Sell all the ripper and flamer and whatever ammo and buy cutter ammo with it.

I went for the plasma cutter only cheese/trophy -- so my cutter was maxed as were my stasis and kinetic by game end. Maybe even the suit. At least the life portion.
More Fallout 3 last night! I really should finish up the Wasteland Survival Guide now that I've got Rivet City on fast travel. Also, found Charon last night and would like to add him to my party. Say, if that bartender guy gets killed somehow, can I loot my caps back if I buy out Charon's contract? 2K caps is a lot for me right now. Also, can I have Dogmeat, Ashley, and Charon in my party or does one or both of those NPCs count as a "slot" in my party?
And just before I turned in I played a little more of Dark Cloud 2. Wow, that game has a really long intro...

I'm enjoying Bioshock on Survivor difficulty. Really having to budget my ammunition/money shows an element of difficulty (though it is a bit of "I hit you with electro shock and then my wrench" like the easier versions). But the soopa fun is in the Big Daddy fights. Every one of 'em is like a boss battle. I have to pick my spot, make sure I have the proper ammunition and first aid kits, and look around to see if I can use the environment to my advantage (i.e., how many turrets can I draw them in front of while I lob grenades at them?). Finished Fort Frolic last night, and hoping to get to play some of Hephaestus this evening if I can get my lecture notes for class completed in time.
Oh yeah, and Suikoden's "your characters can permanently die" aspect sucks. HARD. But, hey, a hella good RPG for $6. Bring #II to PSN!

150 hours? :-s
I 1000/1000 the game, doing all sidequests in less than 60... So unless you're the kind of guy that likes killing obstacles (since you cap out at level 20 pretty early) or you just like checking out the same subways and busted up buildings for the sheer "fun" of it, I have a hard time believing most normal gamers would get 150 hours out of it.

Whynot Nightmare Creatures? I somehow have fond memories of that game -- though it's all blurry in my head, since it was like... 14 years ago.
I'll pick up the additional DLC. I'm enjoying the game, so another x number of hours to extend the life is fine with me. Of course, there's so many variables/ways to play the game that you could argue it isn't necessary.
Managing the NPCs can be challenging. I usually keep 'em back while I do most of the work so I can pick up the XP and minimize the risk of them doing something stupid and getting killed. Certainly you could go it alone, but I like having the NPCs around as it lends a different dynamic to the game. The Wasteland lives up to it's name--a big, mostly empty world without very many friendly folk to interact with--so having some virtual company along keeps things interesting for me.

(A) I've said this before, but I don't understand the purpose of the DLC without a level cap increase. It's broken to me, unless you're playing an entirely new character that has to level up from scratch. The third DLC expansion is supposed to have the continuation of the main story and a level cap increase though (DON'T READ IF YOU'VE NOT FINISHED FALLOUT 3) Since you die at the end, or at least I did, I'm not sure how the level cap helps... unless it forces you to take the "send the girl in" approach. :-s
(B) True... they did it with Oblivion, sort of. The Knights of the Nine and all the stuff up to that DLC was in it when they released the PS3 version... though I'm not sure they'd have the rights to do that if MS has the contract on the content.

Sounds like the 1st expansion is like the Mass Effect one: just side missions that don't need a level cap. If the DLC after that actually furthers the story, then a level cap increase seems more necessary. All the DLC is optional, so it's no biggie to me. I personally have a lot left to do in the game.
