Well, I would've recommended the Cave shmups, but Homura is also kind of cool. I'd also recommend fighters like Hokuto no Ken. There's also the Sega Ages series of classic game collections. I dunno, sounds like you got a handle on those anyway.

Homura is pretty cool. And I love Hokuto no Ken. It's a great fighter. Out of that list, I have Ico, Way of the Samurai, ZoE 2, Sky Gunner, and Klonoa 2. I was interested in Haunting Ground, but I haven't played it yet. My friend's bro has Crimson Sea 2, and it looked pretty decent. Red Star, I'll snag sometime, and I've never heard of Heavenly Guardian.

4. Rumble Roses - Sure, it's a little slutty, put the gameplay is solid and the production values are excellent.

5. Raw Danger - One of the most underrated PS2 games I've ever played. Think Disaster: Day of Crisis without the shooting. It's you verses Mother Nature during her monthlies. It's a 'survival' game without the 'horror'. Highly recommended.

I'm getting the Genesis collection for PS3/360, probably 360 though. I have Taito Legends 2. It's pretty decent, and definitely better than TL1. Fire Pro Returns, hell yes. Love it. I did put a lot of hours into Rumble Roses, too much time. :drool: And I've wanted to play Raw Danger.

GH Treasue Box is pretty sweet too. Nights remake is actually pretty good if you like Nights. 480p widescreen is damn nice too. Tenkaichi is really fun too. I dig it, but I'm a SamSho whore.

Yep, I didn't think it was bad in either game. But it does still take a lot more shots compared to realistic shooters like CoD4 etc.--so I guess I see how it could turn off some people.

Gears 2 > Gears simply for the facts:

(1) Gears 2 has flamethrowers
(2) Gears 2 has better vehicle sections
(3) Gears 2 has no bullshit drive the spotlight mobile section.

However, Gears has shining points that Gears 2 somehow dropped, especially the "boss" type encounters.

Well, it the first one was great on the PC--even on my non-gaming PC where it ran like crap. The port was just half assed.

When the game came out, there wasnt any much lag at all. But when i hopped on yesterday and today...holy fuck! I guess cause people got it for Christmas and are now playing it on their NetZero HighSpeed connection. Im not one to complain about lag but wow. Every game i've played so far had lag. Ah well, it was bound to happen so i wont fault the game for it.

I liked the scare factor more then the gunplay/gameplay.
Reload animations and movement when jumping through windows or over ledges were nice though.
The f'ing mech had crazy bass on it's footsteps, my aparment was rattling.

You don't have to play the first one. There's some references to it, but they're not directly connected. I would play the first one though because it's a good game. The gameplay in 2 is quite superior, but so far I enjoy the story in the first game better.

It would. Outside of the Final Fantasy Tactics games and maybe a couple other exceptions SRPGs don't sell well. It's a niche genre.

But it would have sold a bit more being on both of course, just to simply having more people in that niche with the ability to play it without buying a PS3. But who knows if it would have sold enough to be worthwhile (i.e. to offset the added costs of developing on two platforms.

I've no idea why it did so poorly in Japan, but I can understand the US. It's a shame, more people would have opened up to the genre with this one. It's not the grindfest that usually defines the SRPG/FFT clones out there.

At least the DLC will still be hitting stateside giving them a little more revenue. And it will be re-launched in Japan under the "Best of" series. (though I don't see how, but good nonetheless)

Yeah, I generally hate SRPGs, but I'd give this one a look if it was on 360 (especially if there was a demo).

My main gripe with SRPGs is the endless grinding, battles that take for ever and characters that can die for good (which forces you to replay said long battles if you win but lost a character you don't want to give up). As I understand it, those aren't an issue in VC.

The last few nights I've been playing God Hand and Valkyria Chronicles. Both are pretty good games. I totally screwed up a mission on VC last night and I was like 'screw this' and turned it off, because it didn't clearly mention how the heck I'm supposed to do a certain thing in order to get my guys through the battlefield. I hate it when games tell you you're supposed to do something but don't tell you how to do it.

As for God Hand, I'm playing it on "Easy", and I'm finding it to be hard as hell. I'm getting my ass kicked in this game, but yet I still find it very enjoyable. I'm though Stage 6 now, and supposedly the last 2 Stages are hard as hell. I do say "Easy" though because it doesn't seem that way at all.

Yeah, the title just hasn't sold well in North America, despite critical praise. I blame the mis-steps taken with Yakuza 1. Sega spent too much money on celebrity voice actors and made the mistake of trying sell the game based on that alone. That might have done irreparable damage considering it gave the game a B-list vibe. Not to mention, there's quite a bit of cultural stuff that might inherently turn off the mainstream audience.

I'm still hopeful that the game will see light of day here, but I think Sega should just skip Kenzan and just go for broke with 3.

Then again, I may just say fuck it, and just import the damn thing next month. >_<

I just beat God Hand. Wow, that game is HARD, even on Easy. Especially the final 2 bosses. Just...wow. But it was still really enjoyable, but completely ridiculous at the same time.

Okay. So I've had three McRibs in my life. All of which were over the course of a week when I did a semester of college town in Florida. The first one was just so amazing. I couldn't believe it. Number was like immediately after number one. Just as good... :drool: Then a few days later I had one more and it was still amazing. But something clicked in my head. Like, what animal am I eating here? I know I'm not eating "pure beef" by definition when I'm biting in to a McBurger, but I can at least rest easy knowing that I had a cow biproduct. I had no idea what biproduct I was eating. So I concluded that if I were to cook up a rat and eat it on a sandwich it would be a McRib. And that's how I describe the McRib to my friends in the north ;)

Almost finished with Jill's game in Resident Evil. Just started the second disk. Took me a bit to get back into the feel of things but now that I have I'm digging the game/series again.

So....

I played Wii Music tonight. Had dinner at my sister's place and my nephew was begging me to play it after dinner. basically, you waggle in rhythm, then score yourself. that's right-- no points, you decide how well you did! There are some modes where you waggle in time and the game tells you how well you did, but they are simplistic as hell. Except Maestro mode, which gives you no indication of how well you're doing, then tells you that you failed. :lol: I guess the point of the game is that you waggle in rhythm or else it sounds bad. but the waggle detection is so bad, like it is for all wii games, that it registers to late and inserts an off beat note anyway...this will happen 1000 times a song.

Look people, we have our fights and our arguments over this version, that version, this game, that game, but none of them, NONE, not even barely playable NES games, are as bad as Wii Music. This is Nintendo testing how low they can go.

The problem is that my nephew was so into it. He's 10 and I think this is his last hurrah before he begins to slowly realize that the world is kind of a mean bitch, so I played along. Of course, his age is no excuse, since my 8 year old niece was saying things like "what's the point of this game, you don't even do anything!" and "I want to kill Tutu!" (or whoever the tutorial guy is.) It was pretty hilarious, since she was saying exactly what I was thinking.

(and I'll be cross posting this to other places, I wanna see what gaf's reaction is...not to troll, but bigger forum, etc. etc. comes with bonus narrative flourishes)

About all I get from Mickie Ds these days is the Vanilla Ice Coffee. I try to avoid the fast food. :p

And Metal Slug 7 DS is great. Sure the console version will be "better", but you won't be able to play it on the go.

I feel in the mood for some Saint's Row 2. I'd like to try that Fear2 demo, too.
