I'm BAD at video games. I beat every GTA since 3, besides the PSP games.

I've finished GTAIII, Vice City, San Andreas, Vice City Stories, Liberty City Stories, and GTAIV.

I've never played any of the GTA games except for 1 and 2 on the PS1.

Sounds like they used Digital Eclipse's emulation then for the new collection. Any idea if they used DE's emulation for the PS2/PSP genesis collection? I'm pretty sure they didn't for the Sonic Collection on the GCN/Xbox/PS2.

I hate racing games, but I love BP.

Just finished Aquaria. It's cool, but I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. When you die, you are doubly punished by having the hideously designed main character's face fill the screen. Brutal.

I personally hated the bikes, because I couldn't steer them for shit. Another thing I hated was the increase of the chase missions near the end of the game. Other than that, I thought GTAIV was pretty good. I'm interested in the DLC, but not greatly.

Played some LBP today, but didn't progress through story at all, which is something I should do. I haven't played it for about a month and a half, and I'm only getting to the Savannah.

I found the cars to be fine, the Patriot/Hummer was my vehicle of choice throughout the game, wasn't worth it to sacrifice the armor for speed (and the Patriot isn't even that slow to begin with)

Bikes i feel like you fall off with even weaker collisions than you did in the previous games, which is a problem especially since the traffic volume is much larger, and small impacts are more likely. It especially sucked (but was hilarious) when a garbage truck swerved into me on one of the bridges and I had Brucie on the back of the bike, Niko fell to the ground, but Brucie got launched over the edge of the bridge.

I found myself using the cab to get to and from destinations during missions more than anything else however. I probably saved myself about 3 hours over the course of the game just from not traveling the distance manually every time.

I dug the vehicle physics as well. The cars seemed to have weight to them. And you could tell that if you were taking a turn too fast for what you were driving that momentum was moving the back end of the vehicle.

I prefered SR2 to GTA4 by quite a bit. I liked GTA4, and the story was interesting, but SR2 was just a lot more fun. Being fun is really what it all comes down to.

The motorcycles are a huge pain to drive in GTA4. I also never finished GTAIV, I stopped after the bank mission (you know what one I'm talking about, if you've done it) because it was just an exercise in frustration, although I did eventually beat it. I am being told that that was the hardest mission in the game though.

Pros of disc: saleable, negotiable price

Pros of PSN: you're gonna spend 2 hours downloading updates if you buy the disc anyway, so this cuts out the "going to the store or waiting for someone to ship" middleman.

Finished GTAIV last night. I'm in the 10% club; and, by "10% club," I mean, "among those people who finished GTAIV who aren't really a known percentage, but some knucklehead decided to apply an arbitrary number to a category of people they know nothing about" club.

But the former fits on a trophy better, I s'pose.

Oh, and GTAIV's story isn't that good. It has depth and promise, but it *really* exposes how sandbox gameplay and a compelling narrative don't work well.

I played straight through the main missions without doing any side stuffs, so I didn't give a shit when Kate died, because she was just a character I saw in cutscenes and never dated.

PSP (heh) is exactly like PSU, except the portable version is more streamlined when it comes to traveling around when you aren't in missions. I thought that was an amazing idea, since I got tired of trying to find a particular store in PSU, and walking around a huge several story mall area tended to get time-consuming.

The whip weapons are amazing, I must say. I remember when they were first announced, I couldn't stop making fun of the way they looked. After using them though, I almost don't want to use anything else.

Gameplay-wise, it's exactly the same. As Beef said, the travel parts and some other things are streamlined for handhled constraints. In that respect, it may actually be better than PSU, depending on your preference. :p

I'm leaning more towards the DS version at this point, but I'm sure I'll pick up the PSP version whenever it hits that magic $20 or less price.

Gunswords! Also, they are adding a new blunt weapon type, shields. Naturally, it's a different engine due to the hardware limitations, but still 3D. Story seems to be a "prequel" type so the characters have a younger appearance by a different artist. Of course, they are also going to take advantage of the DS touch screens with Pictochat communication.

Got in a bit of gaming this afternoon.

My buddy and I finished off the RE5 demo, finally got buy the chainsaw guy on our first try today after dying 10+ times last night. I hate the way the did the local split screen. I'd rather it not keep a 16x9 ration (ala gears) rather than have small, staggered 16x9 screens. But the game is pretty fun with a friend once you get used to the controls, and I imagine we'll grab it and play through in co-op.

Also tried the Halo Wars demo. I'm not an RTS fan, but it seemed like it would be enjoyable for fans of the genre (downloaded it for my friend/roommate who loves RTS).

Finally played an hour or so of The Shivering Isles and got two or three achievements. Think I'm just going to push through the main story and stop worrying about doing the random sidequests. 75 hours in and I've loved it, but it's time to beat it, get all the achievements and move on to something else.

Last Exile was a pretty good show. Pacing was kinda off at points. The second half of the show gets really good but feels really rushed near the end.

Phantasy Star Portable is a continuation/sequel of Phantasy Star Universe for the PSP.

Phantasy Star Zero is a prequel to Phantasy Star Online.

Considering that both Universe and Online aren't all too different if you like one you'll probably like the other. Whether you like one more than the other mostly comes down to finer gameplay differences between the two series , as well as which "world" you like better.

I didn't try the knife, but I tried probably all of the other weapons. What you should be getting from shooting an enemy is the sensation that you're really fuckin' that dude up. Like, you want the bullet to just rip through them, or to at least make them recoil. I'm not saying it has to be ultraviolent, but it's gotta give you a bit more of a feeling of being a badass.

The knife does sound interesting, and I appreciate the game's attempts to throw in some smaller details that do add to the experience, but I just feel like the core mechanics are pretty ghetto.

And I just said this in the Killzone thread but I'll repeat it here. Why the hell would anyone leave huge barrels right next to turrets or strewn all over a warehouse. 99.9% of companies would at least put flammable or biohazardous materials in a safe room instead of just any old place.

Is it fun to shoot the barrels and make them explode right next to bad guys? Sure. But haven't we been using them for a decade now?

I didn't try the knife, but I tried probably all of the other weapons. What you should be getting from shooting an enemy is the sensation that you're really fuckin' that dude up. Like, you want the bullet to just rip through them, or to at least make them recoil. I'm not saying it has to be ultraviolent, but it's gotta give you a bit more of a feeling of being a badass.

The knife does sound interesting, and I appreciate the game's attempts to throw in some smaller details that do add to the experience, but I just feel like the core mechanics are pretty ghetto.

Street Fighter IV!!

Audiosurf is sweet. I can't believe it took me this long to try it. It's so damn hypnotic. Plus it has the best soundtrack ever. ;)

After SFIV, I'm getting RE5, then I'm getting games I've missed, like Castlevania OoE, Valkyria Chronicles (snagging this soon, before it disappears), and Chrono Trigger DS.

I'm really tempted to pick it up. IGN's video review made the game look awesome, regardless of budget. The original Tenchu was held back by the PS1 hardware, but it had some awesome ideas, and the soundtrack is still incredible (particularly the song that plays during the training mission.) We'll see.

Exactly the problem and why sensitivity doesn't do shit. If its on high sensitivity, the thing simply slides away at light speed when it decides to finally move. actually turning down the sensitivity helps accuracy, but then you aim and turn even fucking slower. :lol:

Well, it's just much easier to aim with a mouse than it is a controller and it seems to take away some of the challenge. Gears on PC was way too easy, headshot after headshot whereas on the 360 I had trouble due to using a controller. And yes, I like the handicap of using a controller instead of a mouse.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 have tons of sweet mods. I've seen some people that are pretty good with a 360 controller, too.

so many mods to choose from and best part is theyre all customized to ur tastes if u dont like how a game plays then theres probably a mod that fixes it :lol:

I know nothing about SO other than it's an RPG and even I can call bullshit on this. The first one's much more visually pleasing, looks easier to navigate and looks very close to the menus I've played in some RPGs I've tried. The second menu looks like a lazy ass photoshop job.

The pink one looks like someone had a paint can explosion or vomited tie-dye.

I'd rather see top menu vs. top menu too, to be fair about it.

Edit: I like the menu background better for the NA release. The battle portraits, I could take or leave -- there should just be an option in the menu system to choose anime/CG model for the battle portrait. *shrug*

I didn't think it was THAT bad. It was that plot twist that really made me dislike it so much. Other then that it was a decent game at best. So I'm not planning on buying the game for a while. I have a number of RPGs I'd love to get to before it. But I might try getting it from Goozex since I have the points.
