For the past 3 hours I have been whoring it up and making my houses better. I think I have 2 kids at least now, one from a threesome. I wonder if the next Fable will have Maurry and his DNA tests.
Dammit man, they do sell condoms in the game ya know! ;)
I guess with all the cash rollin' in, you don't need to worry too much about child support. :)
Any of the alleged STDs crop up yet?

I've read that and Coyote Blue.

Man, Dead Space is just as fantastic as I thought it would be. I'm almost through chapter 3... having ammo/inventory problems though.
Awesome! I finished A Dirty Job today (amazing) and I'm going to start Coyote Blue tonight or tomorrow. Looking forward to it. A Dirty Job was my first.

Lolll I sold multiple copies of P3 for around $70-80 back then.
I played about 15 hours of FES and had enough. It was okay, but I can't keep my attention with it long enough. 15 hours for $30 was fair, though.
I decided I only trade to GameStop when it's flipped games from blockbuster that I bought with credit from flipped games from GameStop.
Seriously. I wish I could get Fable 2 and Banjo Kazooie yet. Those are the only two I haven't budgeted into the holiday. Maybe for christmas.

I assume they'd have still given you $11 if you'd kept the book and CD, something to bear in mind for the future I guess. They would have. I considered, but I'm the type who hates having junk around (I've probably thrown out some bonuses and gave them to Goodwill). I like to have as little stuff as possible, just how I am.
TMK, the next time you consider taking your good PS2 RPGs to GameStop, run them by me first. I am interested in them. :^DWill do. I've traded in games at GameStop, but not the RPGs. I tend to gives CAGs a first shot on them.
My Digital Devil Saga collection might go. :hot: Who knows. ;) Maybe I should trade that into GameStop. :-P Just kidding, really bad move
I believe the term you're looking for is butt-rapedI rather have $11 than it sitting on my shelf un-played getting $0. I considered selling it on CAG, but didn't really push it hard because once you figure in shipping, paypal fees, and so on, I'd probably make $2-$3 more, and there's still the chance I'd be scammed (and after being scammed, I'm more likely to trade stuff into GS because being out $60 of games still hurts me now).
Tonight I'll be playing Wipeout HD online with some. Not sure what else I'll play tonight.

From Ubisoft conference call concerning the casual market:
38% sales coming from casuals.
Casuals games: more marketing, less development
that's absurd to think that 40% of Ubisoft's profits are coming from those god forsaken imagine titles and PETZ.

Great game, just no time.
Probably some fable 2 this afternoon, and then dead space tonight!

A Dirty Job was, on the whole, stronger than Coyote Blue -- however, Coyote Blue, oddly enough, is sort of the predecessor to A Dirty Job (in a way).
I'd say Dead Space, but either way, I hear the main quest of Fable 2 will end up being about as long as Dead Space anyhow... ;)

I think the reviews for Fable 2 have put it as an eventual must buy for me.
I won't get it right away as I don't have a lot of time for games right now, and Gears 2 will take up a lot of that soon. Plus I just started Oblivion so that has my RPG needs covered for a long time. I'll pick Fable 2 up sometime next year when it's on sale for $40 or less or I can get it off of Goozex (already through it on my requests list).

But I think I kinda screwed that up. I married the shop lady and she is in Oakplace and not in Bowerstoned. Oops. Gotta teleport her back to the awesome city.

So in reality, I don't have all that many games, since I've cut back a lot (but still want less, just trying to decide what to not keep).

I flip-flop on the subject. Somedays I'd be completely content with my dreamcast and my fighting games, other days I wish I had a ton more than what I do have. I'm sitting in around 250-280 games total. The only ones I really "collect" are DS games, which I've got around 40+.

See, I just seldom every replay games so I just see no point in keeping them around once I beat them. Of course there are exeptions with multiplayer games etc.
It's not like movies or cds where I'll watch/listen to them repeatedly over the years. I'd always rather play a new game than replay an old one. So for me there's just no use to keep them around.

I completely understand that, I have friends that usually don't own more than like, 10 games at a time. Always buying, beating, trading. What astonishes me though, is DVD collections that some people have. I guess I'm a little odd in the sense that I absolutely don't care for movies, so when I see this couple that's a friend of mine of 4 bookshelves full of Anime and DVD's (well over 500+ movies total), I'm just in awe at how many movies they own. I own like, 20 DVD's and that's it. 15 of them are wrestling ones at that.

I'm pretty proud of myself, it's looking like I'll be able to get Gears, the World Tour Bundle, Rock Band 2, and LBP for like 190 bucks out of pocket. It will be less if I can find a buyer for World Tour.
I'll pick up fallout when my giftcards from Gears and LBP come in. I'd consider the game worth 40 bucks.

I'm just getting Gears from Amazon (used a $25 GC, and got in the $10 GC with preorder) and asked for the DS Castlevania for my B-day next month, so my wallet is happy.
That'll probably be it, may put a game or two on my X-mas list, but may not as that will keep me busy, along with just starting Oblivion, needing to start Sonic Rush etc.
Definitely want Fable 2 at some point, and maybe Fallout 3 (depending on reviews/impressions) but Oblivion has my RPG needs covered for the time being. I want to get Dead Space as well, but that can wait for a match on Goozex. Other than that I don't see much. The Call of Duty 5 beta isn't impressing me. Far Cry 2 isn't for me as I don't like open world games much (outside of RPGs). Unless I'm forgetting something on the 360/DS there just isn't much else that interests me.

I just feel like I'm running in quick sand when I'm playing. I need to level my guys up, and when I work on grinding, I just feel like I get no where. And the story is really neat  I dig it a lot, but the over all game to me leaves a dry taste in my mouth. And that sucks to say, because I really really wanted to like Disgaea.
blueshinra
10-23-2008, 09:17 PM
That's the thing with Disgaea: you have to love (or not mind) constant grinding to stick with it. I enjoy grinding when things are kept interesting and entertaining, and Disgaea delivers; along with the story, the fun, grinding-heavy gameplay makes it one of my favorite games.
I hope you pick it up again after a decent-sized break from it. Too much Disgaea at once can be a bit draining, I'll admit.
Ahadi
10-23-2008, 09:31 PM
I don't mind grinding in certain games. Like, I can grind for hours at a time in Pokemon/Mystery Dungeon, but like Disgaea's grinding just doesn't hook me. Maybe I'm not doing it right? I don't know... I'm pretty bummed about it, because the game is just so neat.
Saint's Row time! I hope I can finish off the story tonight... that would just be so good.
dmaul1114

I have absolutely no patience for grinding. I could tolerate it when I was a kid, but not anymore. Gaming shouldn't feel like work.
blueshinra
10-23-2008, 09:39 PM
Well, putting it aside for awhile is probably a good thing. I find it very hard to play strategy RPGs back to back simply because they're so draining, and that goes double for Nippon Ichi's.
Also, have you been reincarnating your party members to higher classes (the ones that have classes, that is)? You can create some incredibly powerful party members that way. Sure, they start over at Lv. 1, but throw a couple in your party during trips to higher level Item Worlds, keep them out of danger, and you can level them up very quickly :) Oh, and make sure you always have a Mr. Gency's Exit on you!
Ultimately, I must be ok with grinding because I keep going back to MMOs. >_<

A friend shared the R2 beta with me. I haven't played too much of it though. What I did play seemed solid.
I have just over 100 PS2 games, 88 PS1 games, 63 PC, 19 GC 46 DC, 26 Xbox, 30 ish Saturn, 5 360, and 8 PS3 games, not counting XBLA and PSN games. Not to mention a bunch of older games that I've been selling lately. I had like 25 360 games, but I cut that down because I didn't want them anymore. I've owned over 140 PS1 games, but I sold a bunch. I've sold maybe 25 PS2 games, and more than a few Xbox and GC games.
Yeah I have a backlog. ;)
I get hooked on grinding once in a while. I filled in the Sphere Grid with Auron and Yuna in FFX. I was working on Lulu when I stopped.

Yay, just got into the Resistance 2 beta. First time I've gotten into a beta that wasn't just download and play.
As far as keeping games, I've only ever sold two games... Mario and Luigi partners in time (b/c I hated it) and Super Mario RPG (b/c I'm an idiot). I guess I did sell my genesis, which I regret, but I needed the money. My dad (which he technically owned it) sold the Playstation, and I would have liked to keep most of those games. I like to go back and play my NES games (which I have like 100 of) so that's why I cling to what I have. I always think "maybe 10 years from now I'll want to get into some retro gaming". Let's see... probably around 100 NES games, 20 SNES, 30 GBC, 8 N64, 30 GCN, 30 PS2, 10 Wii, 2 PS3, 10 DS. So about 250 games. And that's my lifes worth... feels like I don't have much compared to some of you people, but I guess I'm just more stingy with what I buy.

I rather have $11 than it sitting on my shelf un-played getting $0.

And yeah, don't buy a rock band hit kit set from best buy. it's a piece. With the silencers on, using the new drumsticks, and using the new kick pedal, I dropped from a 94 on The Hand That Feeds on Hard to an 84. The kick pedal drops notes like fucking crazy. The silencer stick combo ups the rebound a lot somehow, but because of the silencers on there I dropped a lot of notes because I play soft in parts.
Oh well, had to get a new kick so my sisters wouldn't care I broke mine. I'm buying World tour on saturday anways. :D

Yeah the elite was an extra one. Show me where I can get a 16 gig for 220.. they're $300 retail and about $280 on amazon marketplace. Either way amazon doesn't let me sell the elite because it's too popular, and using the non-official listing they sell for around $260 with $50 taken off commission and a meager $4 shipping credit.
I was asking for $300 on craigslist, but a $260 device and $50 was good too. I sold the Wii for $250 cash, which was low too. All in all, I got about $350 cash and a 16GB ipod touch for my PS3 80GB + MGS4. Plus no fees or shipping.

So, I bought PGR on Xbox for $50 new at launch and traded it in to GameStop for $0.14. Now that's a big loss. I honestly don't care, because I make money and lose money on games (I made money on trading Brawl in at GameStop, when I only paid $26 for it on Amazon. Please understand this wasn't intentional, because I had Brawl for a few months and played it a few times. Since I wanted new games, didn't play it much, I decided to trade it in with Sega Rally Revo). For the most part, unless a game is next gen, I want it out of my possession. I just don't care much right now about older gaming, since I'm sucked into online + HDTVs (which is why I play PS3 and 360 the most).
I downloaded the R2 Beta in like 40 minutes. It was blazing fast for once.On my end, it started out slow. Once I restarted the download (paused and restarted, so I'd hopefully connect to another server), it was crazy fast. I mean, I went from 52% to 100% in less than 10 minutes (no joke).
Anyway, I played some Wipeout HD online and downloaded the R2 beta. Tomorrow morning I'll hopefully play (or afternoon). I shouldn't have problems connecting since I've configured my router well for PSN (opened all ports and stuff, explains why my download speeds are pretty good).

Backtracking from the fight with Mundus to the castle to escape, yes, but fighting all the major bosses twice? Okay. I've got 2 missions left in Saints Row. I can safely say that this is a game I'm not going to hold on to. The biggest turn off for me right now is that I need to fill my respect meter to tackle the last few missions. I've wiped out all the gangs and am working on taking out Ultor. Either way, this is stupid tedious now. But aside from that, and some minor frustration making me lower the difficulty level, this is one of the best games I've played this year. Excellent story, fun gameplay, and good humor. I'd say pick this one up at the $30> price tag.
So you're on the Ultor Missions then?
By the time I was doing the last of the Brotherhood missions (they were the 3rd gang I took on), I had level 6 style and infinite respect. 8-)

The Mana Knight does some strange things.
Maximo is awesome. It's just that whole notion of "No way to recover from death traps and save points spread out over multiple hours of gameplay" thing that gets me.
My new PS2 slim is loud as fuck when I put Raiden 3 in. It's a CD game so I think it's just spinning faster, but Maximo doesn't do it.. it makes like a loud clicking/ticking sound when the disc is spinning. Hrm.

Finally done with Kirby Super Star Ultra, as done as I'm going to get anyway. Really hated the last few parts. I hate boss rush modes. But I slogged through the arena to see what I'd unlock. What do I get, another friggin' boss rush mode. Beat Hero to Helper with one character and got nothing. Looks like you have to either beat Arena completely or finish Hero to Helper with all 13 characters to unlock the rest which is another friggin boss rush mode and another lame sounding button pressing mini game. Fuck that.
Time to put it on goozex, which works out well as it goes for $35 of points when the game cost $30. Overall the game was decent, but I had a hard time getting into it since it was just a bunch of short games and miini games. I'd have prefered just one long Kirby game. I'd probably give it a 6.5/10 overall.

No, I don't think the extra content on the DS version is worth it unless you're dying to replay the core game. Just some silly touch screen mini-games.
At any rate, that was fast! Already got a match on Goozex which is good as I can mail it out this afternoon before going out of town for a week tomorrow. I really love that site, has got me to play more games for much less cost.

I took this gaming quiz at another forum, and this is what I got:
The Helping Hand
Deliberate Sociable Fun Veteran (DSFV)
Generous, helpful, kind...a few of many positive attributes people see in you, the Helping Hand. Nothing satisfies you more than helping your teammates or friends out in all the games that you play. You may even look to assist people in some cases if there is no one around asking for help. In fact, the enjoyment that you receive from helping people rivals that of solving a puzzle, winning a battle, or achieving a hard objective in a game.
Heavily social intensive games tend to be what you enjoy the most although you can probably find something to take pleasure in with most games. For instance, if you happen to find yourself in a competitive first person shooter, you'd probably take the support class. We recommend you stick to games (and crowds!) where people will appreciate you more; these include more casual gamers seeking fun and excitement from games rather than the serious competitive ones.
http://www.mygamemug.com/results.php?t=DSFV
The results are right because that sounds exactly like me. I'll go out of my way to create Warhawk and Burnout Paradise games to create games for friends, and help them out with trophies. I am heavy casual with some games and usually enjoy the casual Wii games more than most (I kind of like Wii Sports), but it's other issues that keep me from being a big Wii fan.
I played some R2 beta this morning. First match was pretty crazy. Got into a smaller match doing well and really enjoyed it, but I had to quit early since I thought my Mom and I were going somewhere (then she changed her mind, so all that experienced I gained was lost. :-( ). That is pretty neat, mine was pretty spot on as well. Especially the bolded part.
The Average Joe
Deliberate Competitive Fun Learner (DCFL)
The Entertainment Software Association has this to say about the average gamer:
* The average game player is 33 years old and has been playing games for 12 years.
* The average game buyer is 40 years old.
We're going to go out on a limb and say you are very likely neither of these. So then, one might ask, who is the average gamer? Who is this mythical creature that no one can accurately describe? Here's our guess: someone like you.
So while you could care less about the evolution of video games and probably don't view games as anything more than pure entertainment, you do enjoy playing video games when you get the chance to. You love a few competitive short-session games and although you probably will occasionally shout at the screen, you'll probably stay silent on the mic to other players. Although you don't play too much, you are easy going enough to give most other types of gamers a try to play with.

The Game Guru
Deliberate Competitive Fun Veteran (DCFV)
Your knowledge of gaming knows no bounds, Game Guru. You are the person many gamers go to when they have questions and generally most of the time, you have the right answers for them. You are unlikely to tie yourself into just playing one game, as it limits your expertise and experience you may gain from play others. It seems you love to learn everything about games, - the characters, the secrets, the developer, etc. Perhaps you should start a blog if you haven't already.
You typically don't like to hang around too long within a game and therefore avoid the more socially demanding ones. Playing quick rounds or small sessions are more your cup of tea. Once you've had your fun, it's back to the magazines, gaming blogs, forums, and the like where you can share your vast knowledge of all things video games.

The Game Master
Deliberate Sociable Serious Veteran (DSSV)
As the GM, you are the most committed and responsible. You have gained many friends through all your games, and they highly respect your abilities and experience. Although you can be a pretty hardcore gamer, you act online just like you do in real life - mature and sociable. We like that - so please don't change.
You are typically elected the leader when a game requires it; so don't hesitate to take control. Your style and finesse are needed, even if you rather not. Why settle for someone else who sucks leading the team?
You love games and play across the board with different people in different genres. Game Masters are the easiest to match, since you are easy-going enough to handle the extreme gamers and still have fun.
Close, I suppose.

The Accidental Gamer
Deliberate Sociable Fun Learner (DSFL)
Well hello there! Based off your answers to the test, we think you are the Accidental Gamer, or what some people might call the "Casual Gamer". However, here at MyGameMug, we believe a "casual gamer" is a hard term to accurately describe. We think you don't really play online games that much or at all. You most likely 'accidentally' stumbled into online platform or PC gaming or recently started playing online and have developed some sort of curiosity.
Seeing how you've taken the time to complete this test, we will assume that you have experience in gaming, enjoy it, are level headed, and you are looking for people to play with. However, it is clear that you prefer to do other things to occupy your free time. Our recommendation is for you to play more video games online - who knows, you might 'accidentally' meet someone cool from MyGameMug if you do!

The one improvement I saw was that the combat was much improved. The aiming was done better, and the cover system helped a lot though the controls could still have been better.

I don't know if this was directed at my post TFN, but if it was I'd say you have a point that games are repetitive but there's good repetitive and bad repetitive.
For example I played Bully just after trying GTA4 (seems like a good comparison) and it felt new, there were a lot of good missions which were fun and even the stuff that you could do outside of the missions used a lot of new ideas. Whereas GTA4 felt like exactly the same game I'd played years before, none of it felt fun or new, it all seemed like a chore.

But not For $50.
And F.E.A.R is a great game. A greater game than Resistance. I played it and it was just a bit dull. Resistance was a better call of duty game than Call of Duty 4 or 2 were, but it was still kinda meh. Not having high hopes for the sequel to get rid of the hollowness of the guns or the "floating over the ground" feel of your character.
Play Far Cry 2 if you want a new experience in a shooter. Or Left 4 Dead, that looks like it's doing some interesting, new ideas.

You could make that argument, but when a game is repetitive to the point that it's boring, then yeah, that=bad. And with Gears, it was boring. Run 5 feet, take cover, shoot a wave of enemies. Run another 5 feet and take cover. Repeat for the rest of the game.
Not that fun IMO. Some people enjoy it, and that's good. More power to them.

I really don't understand how that's different than Resistance when you remove what platform they're on.
That game really dragged near the end as well.. the enemies rarely even had variation, and even though the guns were weird all you ever really had to use was the sniper rifle, shotgun, and that alien rifle that shot targeting bullets..
Resistance had vehicles, and the occasional bullet sponge huge dude.
Gears had the vehicle section, the light-dark gameplay, greater variation in enemies, and multiplayer/co-op that was more than an afterthought. But it's an Xbox game, so it automatically loses points from the beginning.

playing the R2 beta is RLY awesome and fun....day1 for meHeck yeah it is. I just played some 8 player co-op and that was some of the most fun I had all year. Also had fun during DM. Although I already preordered Resistance, it has SHOT up on my wishlist just under LBP and VC. The beta is too much fun.

Yeah, that was badass. Can't wait to be able to play more when the full game is released. Co-op was even better than I thought it would be. I mean, I expected it to be awesome since it was 8 players, but that added with classes and the huge amounts of enemies thrown at you at once just blew me away.
Can't wait for the game! Glad I requested the 4th off. :D

That's just fanboys in general, not just the PS3. Exclusives always get over hyped by fanboys of the particular system. You just have to learn who those people are on forums and not pay any attention to their impressions of games.

They're all up in a frenzy about some mediocre platformer coming out next week that lets you make you own levels..

Anyway, I did download the Lego Batman demo and I'm about to play it. I didn't really follow the game. I probably said it, but I'm looking to buy Rock Band 2 tomorrow, finally. :D That will probably put me at level 6 as far as trophies are concerned.

The PS3 will definitely outsell the Gamecube sometime in 2009. They've currently got 5 million to go with the holidays coming up.
However, present numbers are present numbers. With one more week before the new PS3 bundles launch in Japan, there is a small chance that the PS3 will track below the Gamecube one last time (Japan)
http://garaph.info/linecompare.php//weeks/103/sum/1/system-0/PS3/date-0/2006-11-06/group-0/HardwareFamily/tracker-0/fam/system-1/GCN/date-1/2001-09-10/tracker-1/fam/width/800/height/400/ymax/2374885/title/PS3+in+terms+of+GCN
Other comparisons: After 101 weeks, PS3 is where PS2 was at 22.0 weeks (July 29, 2000), where PSP was at 53.6 weeks (December 15, 2005), where GCN was at 102.5 weeks (August 27, 2003), and where Wii was at 24.0 weeks (May 13, 2007).
These things are largely irrelevant, but its a spectator sport :)

Team Fortress 2 is the best multiplayer fps ever. Shut the fuck up.
That quiz, I got:
The Daredevil
Reckless Competitive Fun Veteran (RCFV)
When playing video games, you look for excitement and excitement only - any game that doesn't offer it, gets pushed to the side. You are the Daredevil and you play games for the thrill. You have probably been gaming for quite awhile and one thing you have learned is that the high that some games give you is unmatched elsewhere in life.
You prefer the more exciting competitive games, although playing with anyone who takes it too seriously will turn you off. You generally look for games that offer constant excitement, quick load times, and few preparations. Anything that slows you down is detrimental to the overall experience you seek to achieve.

The Terminator
Reckless Competitive Serious Veteran (RCSV)
You are the Terminator - you MUST win at any cost. You leave your friends in the dust. While others are out having fun, you're accomplishing those impossible missions. Discovering those secrets that take hours. You'll buy as many games as possible to become the best.
After you're done obliterating games as a single player, you take your domination to the online world. A sense of pleasure arises as you become the top scorer in every game you play - the more competitive it is, the better. If you happen to find people better than you, it doesn't faze you. Move on to beat everyone inferior first. Then go back and destroy your opponents with your new skills. No hurry. Especially when you enjoy stomping everyone who gets in your way.
Once you master every aspect of a game, the mission is complete. Time to move on to the next challenge. Old games will sit on your shelf collecting dust like trophies, reminders of your victories. Most games will appeal to you, across all genres. Teamwork annoys you, though, since it doesn't let you conquer all. But if your team is from Skynet as well, you'll have a blast.
Sounds almost right, except that I do like playing on a team.

oh well, it should at least be here tomorrow. It would be nice to take my ds on the 3 hour bus trip to our chamber choir contest next week, but I'd rather not get made fun of for bringing it.
I hate all of you that have teh r2 beta and don't share it.
EDIT:
When I pick up guitar hero on saturday night, should I do a live stream of me and my friends being dumbasses with it? I need an excuse to flip the EOJ bundle to blockbuster for the free camera.
What the-? I don't think I'm this other than the not-so-competitive part, but that's what I got:
We recommend you stick to games (and crowds!) where people will appreciate you more; these include more casual gamers seeking fun and excitement from games rather than the serious competitive ones.
one of my matches was a cute, elfish-looking azn girl though

QFT. I just play whatever I want, on whatever system I want. I'll never buy a Wii. My 360 plays VF5 and some XBLA and that's it. My PS3 is a bluray and fighter machine mostly. The bulk of my gaming is PS2 and PC. That's just how I am.
You can listen to others' views, but at the end of the day, you should play what you want to play on whatever you want to play it on. And more power to you.
