DC area is a nice place to live for a younger person. But you seem pretty introverted, so honestly location shouldn't be a huge factor for you--beyond cost of living--as an introvert can be happy anywhere.

Don't know what family issues you're having now, but from what you pm'd me in the past seems like your main concern should be to get far away from them and the DC area is pretty far from Indiana....Actually, I forgot you were more so closer to the DC area. The place I got contacted by is within or just outside of Baltimore, MD. I know housing isn't as expensive there at least. I don't want to get into a long explanation here about it, it's more of a matter of getting very comfortable with my state and my family having SOME health issues (along with them wanting me to stay) which makes things difficult. But then in ways I'd love to start off fresh, make new friends, and learn to stand on my own two feet (basically, while I may be mature, I still need to grow older in some ways such as being more independent, and moving far away would definitely change that). Overall, just something I'll have to discuss with the family first.

At least I'm going to see about going to the interview, but debating which way I do it (either go down by myself via plane ride, or drive with a family member, spending time in the area getting to know it and look for housing. Because if I cannot get that job, there are plenty of other jobs out there in that area, so I can see if it might be best for me to continue to pursue the area).
Kill two birds with one stone. Play something on a portable with basketball on the TV. I'd do that but I have work I need to do so I'll be working on the laptop with the games on all day.Hmm, I dunno why I didn't think of that.:-k I've been wanting to increase my time in some PSP games I have which I haven't touched enough, so I guess I'll do that.

If you want to drink a glass of pure malt and zero hops, sure. But, if you're game, Sierra Nevada has two new seasonals out: their annual Bigfoot Barleywine (not sure that's your gig), and their Torpedo IPA (think traditional Sierra Nevada, but with more hops that add a great pine flavor to it).

I've yet to find a seasonal beer better than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. My go-to beer.

Well, I do like Buffalo Bill's Orange Blossom Cream Ale which I only seem to be able to obtain during Summer.

Yeah, I can drink a Russian Imperial about anytime--other than outside on a hot day. Wish there's was available year round--at least the North Coast Old Rasputin is. The Oscar Blues Ten Fidy is another great seasonal imperial.

But Stone is definitely my favorite brewery--had a great time at their brewery and restaurant a couple weeks ago when in SoCal for work. Ruination IPA kicks all kinds of ass, as does the Arrogant Bastard Ale (especially the Oaked version and the double bastard). But I love big, strong beers with a high ABV.

I still haven't found 10 or more bobbleheads, or all the Books, and what not. I'm really annoyed @ Bethesda for not allowing you to continue the game after the main quest is finished. Yeah, you can replay from an earlier save but still...

That Torpedo IPA sounds like my pint of beer.

American Ale isn't half bad but it is way too malty. That's what I get for not having any liquor stores within walking distance. Gas station only has Bud, BL, BL w/lime, Select, and American Ale.

I absolutely love Ridge Racer 7. My first PS3 game I bought and still play it now.

Btw, I actually got offerred an interview not too far from where you live, but I'm currently in a difficult position as to whether I should go for it or not (if it was Midwest or South, I definitely would, but due to family concerns, tough to decide).

I can't decide what I'll play today. I'm mostly in the mood to watch college basketball. I dunno what I feel like playing but Hank mentioning RR7 makes me think about that. :lol:
I bought RR7 when it first hit $40, not long after I bought my PS3. I really like it, but I've neglected it. I just started playing it out of the blue. I think I'll play it in a few. :)

And go for that job. I definitely would if I were in your position, but I do want to get out of this area. I've lived here my whole life, and I just want a change of location for a while. One of my friends is teaching English to 5 year olds in South Korea for just over $2000 a month, apartment and travel provided for. He didn't know if he should do it, and I told him it to go for it. How often does something like that come along? He really likes it there. :)

Is it a "deal"? Eh, it's too little too late, includes two titles that are just forgotten about (at least the 360 bundle had Lego Indiana Jones, even if you had Kung Fu Panda as well), and doesn't include the most important thing: a price drop. Indeed. And it will always be especially bad with games (and especially on net forums) since the market is always heavy on kids and nerds.

At least with digital music players, with DRM having been removed from iTunes (*ahem* for now *ahem*), that music is playable on anything. Such is not the case with your Amazon titles.

Now, it's an apt comparison in that it is very much a format war - a war of helping establish a market distributor as the dominant format owner (and helping hand them a monopoly position), or one in which you allow formats to develop and fight to the death naturally, bringing you cheaper and cheaper content along the way.

EDIT: by means of comparison, you know why Amazon mp3 albums are sometimes on sale for crazy awesome cheap? Because they have competition in the marketplace. They don't here. Yet. We're awarding them the default before they've had a chance to demonstrate why they deserve it.

yep. It always sorta was - drm on what you bought, but you burned it to a disc and then ripped it right back to your itunes, the drm would disappear along the way. But this is more direct and doesn't involve those "CD" things folks don't use anymore.

I get all that stuff. But I don't care with ebooks. I'll only buy stuff I'll only read once (which is the vast majority of books). Anything else I want a real book for. Academic books I want the real ones so I can highlight and write in the margins, flip through them quickly etc.

So I went with the one with largest book selection--and I love the free wireless access.

Doesn't affect me, so I went with what was best for my needs, and to hell with everyone else! :D

That said, I couldn't care less if their format and/or the Kindle dies, as I'm only buying books I could care less if I have access to in the future. And reading lots of free public domain books of course.

With music I've still yet to buy an MP3. Just prefer buying CDs and ripping them--as music is something I'll go back to time and time again so I want something permanent.

Sure, I have about 60+ 360 games and less than 10 PS3 games, but I have around 40 PS2 games and 1 Xbox game (which is irrelevant).
Every multi-platform game for me has been 360 (except Kane and Lynch, cuz I got it lowball thanks to dv8 :) ) Mainly because 360 offers cheesy mints, and PS3 doesn't have trophies for the vast majority of multi-platform 360 games I own.

Gonna watch A Clockwork Orange, methinks.

Finished the story in Fallout 3, torn on the ending a bit, felt it was a bit unnecessary to end the way it did. (Especially since you have Fawkes with you and he gives the biggest BS response ever to the most sensible solution).

This is the exact kind of game where it should keep going after the ending ala GTA, even moreso with Fallout since there's tons of optional content.

I'm kind of looking forward to starting Fallout 3 (have it on the shelf) but will probably wait until finishing up the dissertation. Can't get sucked into a game like I did with Oblivion until then (played off and on from September through last week putting in 80 hours). Need to play stuff that its easier to play in shorter bursts rather than games like that which waste evenings and whole days!

That said I doubt I'll play Fallout 3 as thoroughly with trying to do all the main sidequest/guild lines etc.

I hate that they burn their regular coffee! The beans are damn good, I usually buy my beans there as I love a lot of their bold and extra bold beans (Komodo, some of the African ones, French Roast, their Christmas blend). Plus its convenient as there are several around my normal shopping locales and not any competing coffee shops that sell beans.

Shame they fuck it up when they make it themselves. As is I always get a caramel latte (or frappaccino on a hot day) on the few instances I by a drink there.

I have that red RE5 360, and I had a two month old Jasper arcade before that.

Red 360 has 87/120gb free and the arcade usually had 2-3gb free after all of the game installs. Every time I was messaging or something while loading up SFIV it would freeze and I'd have to reset my console, but other than that I haven't had any problems with it. It does take a while for the avatars to load on the dashboard, but it doesn't get stuck on the screen. :3

This. So much this. It's so easy to get deals on years of Live. I just splurged on the XBL messenger pack for $50 because I needed a headset, I could use the chat pad, and I didn't have PGR4. Before that, I bought the old XBL packs with Crimson Skies and Mechassault for 25 bucks on clearance.

I can't decide between a PSP and a DS.

Good points about DS:
Lots of RPG games, a little more interactive with games, portable Cooking Mama, considerably cheaper. Nintendo portable so great battery life. (I'd be getting the Lite, not the DSi)

Bad points:
No memory storage or media watching abilities. Graphics are comparable to N64. No analog stick.

Good points about PSP:
A little less than PS2 graphics, which is pretty powerful for portable. Great shooter games. Star Ocean Second Evolution, Resistance portable game. Great modifications. Memory storage to load up music, pictures and movies. Can play PS Store games through PS3. (when I get a PS3) God of War.

Bad points about PSP:
Less RPG's than the DS. A little less good games than the DS. PSP 2000 and 3000 aren't as user friendly as the 1000 Fatty one. A little more expensive.

The PSP has SO 1, 2 which are okay at best. Chains of Olympus which is good for a handheld game, and it has Patapon, and Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core.

Ds has 3 Castlevannia games, pokemon platinum, fire emblem, 2 dragon quest games(another one coming), final fantasy tactics a2, New Super Mario Brothers, 2 Advance Wars, Final Fantasy 4 remake, picross, Professor Layton, GTA Chinatown Wars, Sonic RPG, and a fuck ton of RPGS from NIS and Atlus. Although not all of them are good. DS also has Rtyhmn Tengoku, and EBA.
