Indeed, save up a few more months and get a better one.

I mean if you're a high schooler, or in a dorm etc. then maybe a cheaper one is ok (or if it's a second TV), but otherwise you get what you pay for.

I was glad as hell I didn't settle for a cheap brand (or a small TV) and saved up another 6 months or so and bought a 50" Sony when I finally took the HD plunge a couple summers ago. Well worth it for the size and better picture quality.

Encore is harder since it starts at a harder difficulty than the main island does without any of the perks you earn to get that far on the main island, too. It's to wait to see if you can beat PJM first before getting Encore.

I have the 32" version and hell yes, it is heavy (175 I think). The only downside with this TV for me is that I have to watch all HD content letterboxed, but I am close enough to the TV that it isn't much of an issue. Tubes have the best colors so it is going to be a love/hate thing when I finally take the plunge on a nice flat screen.

ZOE 1 and 2 are a great way to spend a weekend. I picked up both recently for cheap and finished 1 in under 5 hours and 2 somewhere in the 10 hr range. 1 is not that great, but its a fast, cheap introduction to the setting. ZOE2 stands up still as one of the best mech games. It plays like what all of the gundam game should play like. Fast paced action with story cut scenes.

I really hope Kojima decides to make ZOE3.

Henry Hatsworth is a real good time. Yeah, the puzzle part is basically bejeweled/columns/tetris attack, and the platforming isn't groundbreaking either, but the game controls well, blends surprisingly seamlessly between the two genre types, and is just plain fun overall. Definitely a memorable and worthwhile experience. Great job, EA!

Yeah, English title is that.
Fun game though, it's a puzzle game where you throw trash into a giant bin, ala Tetris/whathaveyou.

But stuff breaks downs so you can fit it all in the can. You can cause fires to clear room, decompose stuff with water, shake it up. There's even "boss battles" where you have to break down like a big piggy bank for something.
Neat puzzler basically.

Not the best game, but one of the better gaming experiences I've had.

Mass Effect is shaping up nicely too. I didn't do a whole lot of side missions, so my playthrough is around 21 hours, but I feel like starting up New Game+ immediately after finishing. Also had lesbian sex twice, which is two more times than any other game has offered.

Pokemon Platinum is out?? I kind of want it... but I never finished Diamond so I'm sure I won't finish Platinum.

I picked up my Core in the first week of January 2006, right after New Year's Day. Strolled into EB games, they had one Core, so I hopped on it, bought DoA4 and component cable there, 20 GB HDD at Circuit City. Ordered Condemned online the next day, friend bought NFS Most Wanted to play on it. I bought the warranty from MS too, just because I've already heard about problems at that point.

A friend has a Jasper, and it is so cool, quiet, and light compared to mine. Power brick weighs almost nothing compared to my heavy ass brick. I'm on my 3rd 360, surprised it's not my 4th by now.

Oh well, that's the price you pay for being an early adpoter. It happens with all technology.

I don't think MS cares all that much either anymore. They haven't updated it in a while. My Xbox DVD drive is a Thompson piece of shit that barely works. So I'd appreciate being able to play all of my Xbox games on my 360. Whatever though, I should just go find a replacement drive.

I don't play PS1 or PS2 games on my PS3. I've complained about the input lag, granted, most shit it doesn't even matter with, but the bigger factor now is DVDs and CDs causing Blu-ray drives to fail faster. Besides, my PS2 works just fine for that, and I can't play imports on my PS3.

And I agree, HDMI isn't as significant as taking out BC. Component does a fine job, I'd just like to have HDMI because I'd use it with my receiver. Adding it after they said it wasn't necessary irks me, but whatever. Like I said, that's the price you pay for early adoption. How many people have old iPods that don't have shit compared to new ones?

Mass Effect is shaping up nicely too. I didn't do a whole lot of side missions, so my playthrough is around 21 hours, but I feel like starting up New Game+ immediately after finishing. Also had lesbian sex twice, which is two more times than any other game has offered.

It's any DVD medium, PS2 game, DVD movie, etc. It apparently has to do with the laser having to change focus, and after a while it'll stop reading any discs. My friend's 80 GB lasted 4 months because he watched movies on it and played PS3 games on it all the time. All that focusing took the drive out. Not saying that's always the case, but I've heard other reports of this happening.

As for GOTY, too many I haven't played yet. I'm always behind since I don't play a ton and wait for stuff on Goozex so it's usually the following summer or fall before I can pick a firm GOTY for the prior year.

Gears 2 has that spot now for the campaign (have beaten in 3 times--casual by myself then hardcore and insane with my roommate in co-op). I love the Gears games, so I doubt anything will surpass it. Fallout 3 (which I have on the shelf waiting more free time, probably has the best chance. Playing Fable 2 and like it a lot, but not as much, and I don't see myself like L4D more. And that's probably all the 2008 games I'll play that I haven't yet unless something is slipping my mind.

Been playing alot of Phantasy Star Portable. I have to say it got rid of all the cumbersome shit in the Universe console version... Plus combat actually is fun this time, which I'm surprised seeing how much I hated Universes.

They still have glowing Hamtaros though.

Then I think I might play the 4th campaign of L4D. Or watch volume 6 of ROD the TV. That show is great.
