Lame. But they're stuck there this gen period. They drop the PS3 price, MS will drop the 360 price again (especially since it's already been several months since the last 360 price drop).

By launching at $100-200 more they doomed themselves to always be the highest priced console, and while the exclusive game lineup is solid it by no means blows away the 360's to entice people who only buy one or the other to shell out the extra cash.

1. They cared more about winning the HD movie format war--which they did.

2. They banked on enough people caring about early adopting Blu Ray to pay the extra price and keep them on top in sells. That didn't happen, many who did care (like me) just waited for stand alone players to get cheaper rather than buying a PS3. But it did help, sells would be even worse if it was $600 and didn't play blu rays (but that's moot as without BR it wouldn't have cost that much) it would have sold even worse.

Plenty of games I want to play on the PS3. Other than the few JRPGs out on the 360, there's really no exclusives there I really want. As for the controller, I greatly prefer it to the 360 one. The only exception being when I play FPS games, and I rarely play those anyway.

Yeah, both have plenty of good games, and which better suits an individual is just a matter of opinion.

360 fits my needs more since I mainly play FPS and Western RPGs and they have stuff like Halo, Gears, Mass Effect etc. as exclusives. And controller wise I prefer the 360 one greatly, offset analog sticks are much better for dual analog games (which covers FPS and WRPGs).

As for system longevity, I've had my 360 since Oct. 2007 and have yet to have any issues. *also knocks on wood*

So I have this second iPod Touch with music on it already. I plug it into my computer and itunes. iTunes says I can transfer my 2.whatever update to the iPod, but it will clear all the songs. So I can do that? Is there a way to get the songs on my computer? Syncing says it will just replace the iPod's songs with my library.

1. Many don't do them as they have older models with 20GB HDDs.

2. The RROD problem is from the graphics processor overheating, doubt an HDD install would help that. That should just help lessen DVD drives dying.

When a lot of stuff happens at once (get message, friend invites to party) I've had it hang for 35 seconds before it fixes itself.
If I'm switching tabs and I get an invite, takes about 5-6 seconds to unfreeze.

Turned that in and paid 20 bucks for a new arcade, and then sold that one for a red 360. I've had maybe five 360s, but none of the replacements have been because of hardware failure besides the refurbed one (which is to be expected.. 100% guaranteed my ass. 8-))

I was just thinking of something earlier .. about how PS3 uses blu-ray discs. How comes there isn't a graphical improvement or extra material compared to SDs? I seem to recall an image of what MGS4 would look like on the 360 and it was a box of about 9 standard discs to the PS3s one.

BDs hold more data, aside from a couple other smaller techinical things (speed of data transfer), there's no difference from DVDs.

Lazy devs as to why they don't put more content on the BD game though.
It's rarely done aside from some games giving the option for uncompressed audio of which you need an HDMI receiver to take advantage of.

Examples of actual content are the CE version of Stranglehold, where they actually put a 1080p cut of the movie Hard Boiled on the disc.
Or The Darkness where the little movies and shows you'd see on TVs in the game were full length rather than just smaller cuts.

There's probably some other stuff too, but it's all minor I'm sure.

Yeah, like I said it's not so much the effort as it's just having not gotten around to it since playing off the disc doesn't bother me and I only have a 20 GB HDD. :D

Next time I'm playing a long game that has some loading (maybe when I get around to Fallout 3) I'll install it to the HDD and see if it's worth bothering with to me. Not going to bother with the current games I'm playing (L4D, Fable II) as they're pretty short and will be done with pretty quickly.
