I will no longer buy a Rare product, even Banjo-Tooie which I have been looking forward to for months. Someone needs to take Rare out back and put them out of their misery, once and for all. The dialogue is fucking terrible. And this is coming from someone who didn't mind the dialogue in gears of war.

The only good sounds seem to be the hilarious screams of the helghast on fire or being electrocuted.

my only complaint is that it's a little "Click A to examine this" heavy. and there's something to examine every 5 steps.

I liked it somewhat. I definitely don't think it's one of those games that is worth more than it was priced like some people. I think the multiplayer is an abysmal piece of shit that should be destroyed in the fires of the sun. If I put a rating on it, I'd say a 6.5. I hated it more originally, but Sonic Unleashed kind of boosted N&B's score second-handedly.

About the new DLC, one thing I cannot comprehend is that on one of the Challenges, they punish you for making a car that is too good, so you have to scale back your car so you can stay with the rest of the field until you win. It also added more multiplayer which no one asked for.

This. Me , my buddy and his brother put a ton of gameplay into goldeneye , and quite a bit into Perfect Dark as well (not quite as much since it came out later). My favorite multiplayer level in goldeneye had to be the bunker with proximity mines turned on. I had memorized all the spawn points in that stage and would always grab the mines and plant all the spawn points. Then hunt everyone down to score 2 kills.8-)

In retrospect , Conkers Bad Fur Day (or Conker Live and Reloaded) might have been better suited as a parody movie than a game. The game was really funny and had some really cool parts (like the teddyz war and the matrix lobby scene) but too many parts were overly difficult mostly due to clumsy controls. Other parts just due to being cheap.

One game that I'm personally dissapointed in not being mentioned (as well as not seing a sequel or XBLA/VC port) is Blast Corps.

I agree. I wasn't enthralled with KI the way some folks were either.

Hm, I guess I could actually say that about all Rare games I've played, even the ones people place significance on like DKC and GoldenEye. They might be historically significant, but beyond some technical things done in the games themselves, I don't think I ever finished or really really enjoyed them. At least not the way some people in here have. :p

wow... Killzone 2 has made me feel weird playing other FPSs... just started playing Resistance 2 and I have to say I'm not use to the gun movement and character movement being so stiff... it feels too lightweight.

Man, I didn't get to play that game until a year ago or so, but its definitely super 8-). A buddy of mine gave me a bunch of DC games he had around his place and one of them was a disc only copy of Mark of the Wolves. 8-)

I did a quick search on the net and I think I found an article about it. What actually happened was Amazon caught a mistake on DVD boxed sets and sent out emails to people asking them if they would be willing to pay the higher price, which pissed off a lot of folks.

What it didn't mention was if any orders had already been dispatched. It's a different situation here anyway as those codes will have been used, so it's not like Amazon can ask people to return them for a refund, so I guess Amazon are hosed.

I'd actually recommend Fable 2 if you turn on the voice bubbles for random people. It's so awesome to hear hundreds upon hundreds of assholes talking on Xbox Live in Fable 2. It just puts a new kinda spin on the game.

But whatever you do, don't play co-op. The co-op in that game is so horrible.

Dead Space, as it is short. Then probably Mass Effect.

Don't even bother with Dark Sector if you've played Gears. It plays like a slow, bootleg Gears with a neat weapon. But the glaive is only fun for the few times you use it for gruesome deaths.

Fable 2 stinks.

Dead Space was the shit. Fable 2 was mediocre. I hear only bad things about Resistance 2 and Dark Sector doesn't seem to fair much better. Can't speak on Mass Effect... most people seem to love it though.

From what I was gathering, it's much easier to port something that was developed with the PS3 as lead to the 360 than it is to port a 360 lead game to the PS3. So it makes sense they probably were in league with Sony as the leading console share in Japan or something... and then they decided they'd sell more units in other locals with a (reasonably) simple port to the 360.

Most people like the driving in SR2 better than GTA4 because of the more... arcade type control... SR2 plays more like a sequel to GTA: San Andreas than a direct competitor to GTA4.

Going to an art school and being someone who uses mostly PC is a sin... almost.

Personally, I don't see Mac or PC being better than the other. I mainly care if I can run something or not (usually the line comes in the form of indie games), and if I have a right mouse button (essential for most adobe shit I use). Steamboat Chronicles for PSP looks interesting...action mech game!


it's a game that came out a while ago on the PSP in japan. it was good and i always wanted it to come stateside so I'm happy. Oh, and it's not a port, but an original game.

Steambot Chronicles on the PS2 was actually pretty damn unique even if the controls didn't work. I mean a music based mech game with great character interaction is pretty damn unique.

I got pretty far on my review copy beofore I had to sell it due to lack of funds.

Seconded. And I love how it's PC vs. Mac. PC = Personal Computer, and what are Macs? Personal Computers. It's really Windows vs. Mac. And now that they are both running on the same hardware, Macs are definitely just another PC. ;)

BTW, OSX runs fast as hell on my PC.

No, because I use my iPhone as a phone and not an entertainment device. ;) Except for web-browsing. But that's not necessarily entertainment... Chika has played more games on my iPhone than I have, I think. Hell, she's better at Topple than I am. :)

Does it not bug you doing the phone stuff without any kind of keyboard? Typing shit on there is a nightmare. I text faster on my Razr than I can type with the iPhone keyboard.

I wish people would take the iDevice more seriously as a gaming platform.

I can type very fast on the iPhone keyboard... better than needing to use the iTap or whatever... it took Chika forever to explain to me how the fucking system worked for that. This is especially true since I modded my iPhone keyboard. :)

The iPhone is not a good phone. The speaker is so low you can hardly hear it, and that's on the 3G, too. It takes so long to navigate the various menus, especially when it freezes up (which is quite often). And even on a basic cell phone, you can instantly dial any phone number. Forget about doing that on the iPhone.

Besides the flaws in the phone itself, it seems everywhere I turn there are people staring mindlessly into their iPhone. It does not bode well.

So I played some Halo 3 tonight. Not the Mythic playlist, lord no. For some reason, Halo 3 has come down with Gears2 syndrome of sitting there for minutes on end without being able to put me into a match.

Now here's an observation: Either the quality of Halo 3 players has gone down significantly or I've gotten a lot better. Now I think it's the former since I'm not that good, but I'm good enough to get positive k/d ratios now.
