Dragonball Movie game gave me flashbacks of when I first saw screens for Street Fighter: The Movie game.
I won't lie.
I thought it looked bad ass in that EGM. I so wanted to play it.
I still remember renting it at Blockbuster.
I remember taking it back too.

The Auger got even better. The alien sniper rifle was really nice also.
It was slightly more realistic to have two weapon slots in R2 but I don't think any of us were looking for realism going into it.

It's just DBZ Shin Budokai with the movie characters... pick up Shin Budokai instead, don't support anything related to that awful movie.
Who said anything about buying it? The only way I MIGHT do that is when it gets to like $10 or something. Also, Dragonball Origins seemed kind of like Phatom Hourglass. And what little I played of it was kind of fun.

See, wiki says a dbz rpg is hitting DS in Dat Japan. I want that. I would play that.
You have to crouch and put your nose against the wall, then peek out and shoot whatever enemy is in your way, js1. If any game needed a cover system.. that game was it. And make sure you're using that standard machine gun as every other gun in the game sucks. I think I went through both games using that standard machine gun and the standard alien gun unless you were forced to use another weapon.
Thanks. Part of the problem that I am at is that all I have is the bullseye gun. It just does not do enough damage. I will try this technique out and hopefully it will be easier to advance. I enjoy Resistance 2's story and want to see what happens next to Hale and how the war plays out.

LOTS of people on my friends list playing VC which is nice to see.
Haven't used my PS3 much at all.
Mostly played Blue Dragon and RE5 again with a friend. That was nice, I went to his place and stayed up till 7am to finish it.
Bought more games, still kicking myself. Contemplating 2 more today.
Like 15 new games in a week and half... not to mention the DSi.
I need to settle myself down, and just finish Blue Dragon.
Agreed about not using PS3 much at all recently.
But, I don't consider the console I'm not using to be a failure - I haven't used my 360 for like 3-4 months :hot: and only used my PS3. But for the past week or so I've been playing the hell out of my 360! It's just a back in forward thing. Except for the Wii I haven't PLAYED a game on that for about 1-2 years...

It was really shitty to be honest but it was a good take on Chinese chinese government even if it was a bit too random for me even.

Pac-Man Championship Edition at $5 (Which Amazon has right now) is a much better deal. So is Doom for $3, which I bought at $5. I fully expect Amazon to put Symphony of the Night at $5 in the next week and Castle Crashers at $10 in the next month.

Zelda II, Battletoads (both when I was young) and Portal are the only one's I've gotten through. Some like Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero etc. I've beaten, but not on the higher difficulty levels they are talking about. Again, I hate hard games.

Portal? I've beaten it twice and I can't say it deserves to be up on that list. One room gave me issues, but other than that everything else was par for the course.

I'd agree, Portal is cerebral, but that doesn't make it incredibly challenging per se. If it is incredibly challenging, then Braid should be on that list as well.
As for Super Ghouls and Ghosts, I wholeheartedly agree. Try being 7 years old trying to play a game that required nothing less but absolute precision. I don't think I have ever gotten past the 3rd level.

Yeah, after I get a new version out in a few days that fixes the problems some people are having, and when more people have played/finished the game, I am going to post some documentation for the editor. The way it works is you can make levels with the editor (up to a full game, potentially) and run that with -universe later... also a tool will be released that lets you take Photoshop files and import them into the game, if you want to put new graphics in your levels.

Yes, you can replace the sounds, the levels, and the graphics... the kit I will put on the site will show how to do it.
Nope, doing two players isn't really going to work -- the game can't do it. But you can do some interesting things that weren't done in the original game.

I dunno. Got the rumble pak with star fox and it collected dust.
Never owned a memory pak. Every game I played that was worth saving something in pretty much had the internal save mechanisms.
There was something called a "Transfer pak"... was that in your list?
The Transfer Pak is an accessory that plugged into the controller and allowed the Nintendo 64 to transfer data between Game Boy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Boy) and N64 games. The Transfer Pak has a Game Boy Color slot and a part that fits onto the expansion port of the N64 controller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_64_controller). It is considered the predecessor of the GameCube-Game Boy Advance cable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_GameCube-Game_Boy_Advance_cable). It was included with the game Pokémon Stadium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Stadium), as the game's main feature was importing Pokémon teams from Game Boy titles.
More:
The Nintendo 64 Disk Drive (known as the Nintendo 64DD or just 64DD) is the official N64 Disk Drive attachment. It was a commercial failure and was consequently never released outside of Japan. It featured networking capabilities similar to the SNES Satellaview (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellaview).
The VRU (Voice Recognition Unit) has only two compatible games Densha de Go! 64 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Densha_de_Go%21_64) and Hey You, Pikachu! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hey_You,_Pikachu%21) each avalible with this accessory packed in or available separately in the case of 'Densha de Go! 64' because it was not required for gameplay, while it was required to play 'Hey You, Pikachu!'.

After googling, you're right, it was just because I needed 2 slots as my brother was playing it as well. The memory card with that game is I distinctly burned into my mind as I was about 75% done with getting all gold medals and losing the game save data on my third party memory card, and having to start over and buying a first party memory pack.
I did end up getting gold medals (and several platinum or whatever the next level was called) and unlocking everything finally. I'd never have the patience for something like that again--with or without memory card failure!

A few of the modes are kinda tricky at first , but after a couple runs through them you get the hang of it. The fifth mode (challenge mode 3 I think , 10 minute survival) seems really hard the first couple times for me , but then my last run I blew through the thing with a huge score and only died like twice.
The virtual boy didn't hook up to your tv. It was "Portable". According to my good friend wikipedia:
I can vouch for that as well. The virtual boy was by far the "least portable" portable system ever. Still wish I had one in my collection just for the 4 or 5 games that were actually good for it.
The two I can recall that I really loved that required it were Blast Corps and Turok 2.

I respect other's opinions, but anyone who thinks it's one of the BEST movies of all time clearly isn't much of a movie buff. I'd have a bit less issue with someone saying it was one of their FAVORITE movies of all times as everyone has guilty pleasures, or things they like as they're a fan of a series or genre etc., that aren't necessarily great films and should never be mentioned in discussion of all time best films.

Then as they started to roll out, you knew it was mostly gonna be crap. Advent Children was a total letdown, and from what I've gathered Dirge of Cerberus didn't turn out much better. Crisis Core was a well-made game, but really, nothing can live up to the FFVII legacy.

Of course it was. It was based around a mediocre game that's been overhyped for years by its blind fanboys.I disagree. I played many RPGs, 200+ of them. Out of all I played, FFVII still remains to be my favorite. I still go back and play the game now. I actually enjoyed Dirge of Cerberus, loved Crisis Core (one of the 5 best games in 2008 IMO), and oh course I loved Advent Children. I just love anything FFVII related. The game was so great to me (only game that came close was Xenogears), that I'd definitely be excited for anything related to the compilation of FFVII.
I think Final Fantasy VII was the best game because I felt like I was really sucked into the game and I just couldn’t stop playing. The story of FFVII was magnificent since it gave me moments of passion, joy, and even some sadness (I still feel emotional when going back through certain scenes).
I could really relate to the wonderful cast of characters like Cloud (my old online name use to be Cloud Strife, in gaming forums), Barret, Tifa, Cid, Aeris, and so on. The gameplay of FFVII was very amazing also although the controls were a little rough but that was before the analog stick came along. Traveling around the world to many places was a fantastic experience and there were so many things to do. The towns were the most memorable I’ve ever seen in a RPG game to date and I could say the same about the dungeons, mountain paths, caves, and so on. The Shinra Building still remains one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been into an RPG game, especially with the amount of realism inside. A very important aspect to me in a good RPG game is the battle system and FFVII had my favorite battle system. The ATB, in my opinion, moved at the best pace in FFVII and playing battles was a lot of fun. The Limit Breaks were a wonderful addition to FFVII, and I still find them to be the best in any FF game I’ve played. I also really liked the addition to Materia orbs that characters would equip to do magic, summons, help party members, and do skills. The materia system really allowed me to customize my characters how I want to.
The story and gameplay of FFVII were amazing but the soundtrack was even better. Ever single theme I heard in FFVII was magnificent and really fit the scene well. I especially liked the boss battle theme more than anything and I can still hear it in my mind. The characters might have looked blocky but I liked that look since it made Cloud look like Popeye. The pre-rendered backgrounds in FFVII were even more amazing and allowed new realism to an RPG game. They may not be the best backgrounds now but they’re still fantastic. FFVII was the first RPG to really use a lot of CG Cinemas and they were fantastic. The transition from real time to CG was near flawless.
Overall, FFVII is the best and most memorable RPG experience I ever had and I will never forget it. With the wonderful side quest, soundtrack, story, gameplay, and even graphics, make this a superb RPG game. I’m just so glad that a game I anticipated so much was not a disappointment and turned out to be the best game I ever played.
When I worked for an RPG website writing previews, reviews, and news stories, I gave it a near perfect too (highest rated game on the site).
Anyway from FFVII, I'm playing RE5. I'm now in Chapter 6-2. I'm looking to beat the game before the weekend.

They were used to experiment with that TRU weekend glitch, then become gifts for cousins. The 2x SBs were the only $10 sale games in the store.
Then I found a TRU that had Spectrobes, but didn't see SB. I asked the clerk if they had any copies of SB, he laughed, asked if I was kidding, and took me to a 3 section wide of DS games overflowing with SB.
So the 2x SBs are going back.
I'll keep an eye out for the GOTY for you, and non-GOTY version was $10 @ Sears. Thanks, and yeah, I don't know why the hell they printed so many Soul Bubbles copies.
Almost as if it was going to be retail everywhere and at the last second, TRU got it. :)

I still don't get people that cried during FFVII. Is it just people that were a certain age when it came out? I was 18 at the time and didn't really have time for RPGs but I played some of it and gave it up for almost a decade and then finished it. I can understand that people like it because it introduced ridiculously long cut-scenes to the genre but I still don't understand the deep emotional attachment many CAGs have for FFVII.

Excuse Me?It has a really awesome battle system to me, which counts as gameplay. I like how the materia system works, where I insert materia for various characters, which kind of counts as gameplay. I WILL admit the controls aren't as good now; however, it was very understandable at the time period because FFVII was released BEFORE the analog stick existed on PS1. Compared to many other games I played with D-pad controls (like the original Suikdoen, Wild Arms, Beyond The Beyond, etc.), it played fine IMO. I thought many of the mini-games played great. FFVII is one of the only games I played just about every single mini-game for. That's how I look at it.
I still have my 63+ hour status screen captured (captured it 6 years ago, since I was the one who captured images for RPGs). ;)

So.
Advent Children had a good pile of FF7 characters in it. Aside from that, what was good? There wasn't really much of a story. The dialogue made all kinds of not-sense. The action was... well, shit, I've ranted enough about that for now. So what was good? The CG is great, told me the rest of the story I wanted to hear. I find it emotional in ways. I disagree about the action not being good.
Short Circuit is still my favorite movie ever, but there's no denying FFVII: AC was one of my favorites. Can't wait for the Complete version. :D

I think it's because the series grew up a little with that installment, perhaps. The characters weren't little tiny chibi type sprites and such and the cutscenes made things more "realistic" than just having the little sprites move all over the screen with their 6 motions. Plus actually killing a main character was sort of a new thing.

I don't know about that. Some games receive hardly any improvement in load times from installing. I don't know where Oblivion ranks on that list.

I know Oblivion 360 cached some to the HDD if you had one. I always had to clear mine out because shit would crash after a while. So it could be like Halo 3 and actually be worse, or it could just not help much.
I sold my 360 copy when I got it for PC, so I don't know, just putting in my 2 cents because I'm bored.

Okay, a response, cool. A little smaller than I wanted, but hey, I'm used to that.
The CG is great, told me the rest of the story I wanted to hear. I find it emotional in ways. I disagree about the action not being good. The rest of the story? Like what? How all of the character development of FF7 was eliminated so that they could bring Cloud back to the angst-laden stereotype that most people view him as?
Emotional? Well, I can't argue with you there. Not because I don't want to, but because... well, I really just can't argue with you about what gets your emotions going. Hell, maybe I would have been emotional, if not for the fact that none of the dialogue made any damn sense.
And as for the action? Yeah. It looked cool, I guess. But it was all fucking pointless. Save for the final fight and I guess the church fight, it didn't resolve a single fucking thing.
Take the fight in the forest with Vincent. Three and a half minutes of people swinging/shooting at each-others' weapons. It ends at a completely arbitrary point where, apparently, everyone just gets bored and leaves. And it resolved nothing. It was filler. It was padding. It was pointless. And it made up the majority of the damn movie.
EDIT: Also, Motorcycle Minigame > Snowboard Minigame.

From what I could find:
PS3 load times are about 40% faster. A 10 second load time on 360 is about 6 on PS3. A 40 second load time is about 25 on PS3.

Battle system was great in X, that's true. But I think, personally, the story was lacking. And it was hella fucking linear. It seemed to me, that they focused so much on getting it to run in a 3D overworld that they forgot to allow the open world approach you got in most of the other games about 40% through, give or take. Also, other than Lulu and maybe Rikku or Auron, the characters in X just sucked (for me). I hated Tidus. I hated Yuna more. Wakka was the fucking worst. The minigame(s) sucked too... I hated blitzball or whatever it was. I was expecting a next gen FFVII and was let down completely. I hate X. HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE [/KEFKA].

Yeah, not sure what he was getting at. Just saying it was probably the first story driven game a lot of people played that had a major character die.
I can't think of one I played before that. That said the death didn't bother me as though I liked the game I thought the story was pretty silly--just anime type crap that I never cared for. I was also 20 when I played it in 1998, so that may have lessened the impact some I suppose.

I prefer X over VII even though they are similar solely because of the battle system. That and the graphics are much better.FFX was very good. I absolutely loved it, but I still give the edge to FFVII because I prefer the Materia over sphere grid, mini-games were more fun, slightly prefer characters, prefer soundtrack overall, and enjoyed the story a little more. Graphics don't have a single impact as to what FF I like the most.
My ranking goes (this is for the main FF games):
1. Final Fantasy VII (Just the best overall. Only tiny issues I may have, a remake would fix (like using an analog stick would be nice, but there was no analog stick at the time it came out)) - 63+ hours
2. Final Fantasy IX (Slower battle system hurt it a little, but I love its characters too much) - 42+ hours
3. Final Fantasy X (I prefer ATB and hated its mini-games, but still one of my favorites of last gen for sure. Last truly great FF game IMO). - 60+ hours
4. Final Fantasy IV (First FF game I played and beat. Just a bit short) - 23 hours (but beat it many times)
5. Final Fantasy VI (The game is very well done and top notch, but the characters didn't grab me as much as others) - 40 hours
6. Final Fantasy V (My least favorite of the SNES ones, but I still love it) - 38 hours
7. Final Fantasy VIII (If it weren't for a few gameplay issues I have, it would be towards the top). - 37 hours
8. Final Fantasy XII (Not a fan of its direction personally)
9. Final Fantasy III (Too little story although I played it on DS)
10. Final Fantasy II (While some hate its skill system, I still found it a bit better than the first)
11. Final Fantasy I (too little story and is a chore for me to play) - Have no idea, sold my original copy
As for some spin-off games, I'd put FFX-2 above FFXII, and I'd put Crisis Core either above or below FFV. I'll be honest I beat 8 out of 11 on the list (XII, III, and II did not get beat. I beat I since I had it many years ago, and just can't play it now, even the updates).
Still keep in mind that FFVII was NOT the first RPG I played. FFIV was the first one I played. I played a bunch of SNES RPGs like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire, etc. before it. It wasn't even my first PS1 RPG, since I played Suikoden, Vandal Hearts, and Beyond The Beyond before it.

Ya never played Chrono Trigger, man?
No. I never really liked JRPGs much. All I've ever played and beaten, off the top of my head, are FF1, FF7 and FFX. A few others I played and didn't finish--a couple Dragon Warrior games, FF2, FF-X2, FF8, The World Ends with You etc. etc.
Never got around to much else back in the day, and now I just have zero interest in JRPGs.
I like WRPGs much better, but even those I don't play a ton of as they're just too long and I hate putting so much time into one game on my schedule. I mean Oblivion was the main game I was playing from Sept 2008 through March 2009, other than a month off in Nov. for Gears 2.
I'd generally rather play a few shorter games rather than one long one. With JRPGs I tend to not like the story and I hate turn based, menu-drive combat.

Since everyone else is mentioning thoughts of FF7 , I'll give my short and simple version.
Game was great when it came out , has aged really poorly since. I did cry when Aeris died (was 13/14 at the time). The story seemed to make sense back then , but clearly is jumbled up upon further playthroughs and examinations. It was the game that made me decide to get a PS1 over a N64 , but wasn't the game that really made me glad I got the system. Motorcycle minigame was the best one (although the snowboarding one was alright too).
Advent Children was pretty to look at , but the fights were only decent and the story was ridiculous.
Also , Tellahs death was less of a shock then Aeris's IMO.
Edit: And the Breath of Fire series is WAY too under appreciated.

I'd take off the GBA-GC cable, as that was actually used in a decent pile of genuinely good games. Whether or not it actually added anything to those games - fuck you, Splinter Cell radar - is something else, but still, it was supported for quite a while.

Animal Crossing (barely)
Are all the games I can think of that used it.
I liked Advent Children. If you don't like ridiculous "never could happen in real life" action, then yeah, it's not for you.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle used it too for the Chao Garden.

They didn't graphically kill the character in a violent cutscene either.
Besides, FFV is garbage. I'm not sure how you played it, unless the FFV:Advance has a much better translation than the Final Fantasy Chronicles or whatever it was on.FFV was definitely my least favorite out of the SNES FF games. I still enjoyed every little bit I played, and I especially liked the job system. I seriously can't believe I maxed out all my classes too. 8-) I beat the PS1 version within FF Anthology (never beat the GBA version). I thought the translation was all right, but I beat it before I beat many other RPGs (I even beat it before FFVI). I definitely feel its character development was on the weaker side (because I didn't find Bartz to be all that compelling as a main character), but there were memorable moments for me within the storyline.
GoW3 with 1 and 2 included would be a killer CE.
I liked FF12. A lot. I'm alone, I know. I loved turning my team into automated tools of death.I didn't think 12 was bad, just that I'm not a fan of Matsuno or whatever his name is (I should know). I thought the battle system was fun, it's just that I wasn't a fan of its characters, story didn't really grab me like others, and so on. I bought it around many other RPGs, but I found myself playing the others instead (like Xenosaga Episode III, Tales of the Abyss, .Hack//G.U., etc.). I know many who loved Vagrant Story, and while I acknowledge it being a great game, just didn't suit me. Only games by him I like are the FFT games.

Yeah since I've been playing it on my 37", I put it into 480p and Widescreen. I went into thinking that it was suddenly going to make everything smooth and up to date.
And then I remembered it was still on the PS2. Jaggies everywhere, but maybe the rendered cuts look a little better?
II looked pretty damn fine for a PS2 game when I played on my 42" LCD in 720p. I think I liked using the PS3 upscale and smoothing better than the in game option though.

I loathed the job system. Add in the horrid translation of the pirate chick into the FFA PSX disc... and the load times? Simply unplayable.

I loved FFXII, mostly for the great gameplay that needs to be adapted for more RPGs. It was like a single-player version of FFXI's combat system.

I'm not saying it was ugly by any means. I mean as a PS2 game, it is pushing the system as far as it can possibly go. The sense of scale that it puts out too in open spaces looks great. I just had to return myself to reality after looking at 360 games for the last few years.
Did the PS3 upscaling make a big difference? I was curious about that even though it isn't relevant to me any more. My plan originally (this is awhile ago) had been to trade in the PS2 when I sprung for the PS3 because of the backwards compatibility. Since I can't get that anymore, I was wondering how BC games looked on the PS3.

Depends on the game, it seems. I've played the following games for extended periods on the PS3: We <3 Katamari, DMC3, GoW2, MGS3.
We <3 Katamari looked about standard. GoW2 looked great and MGS3 was no slouch. DMC3 looked like it caught several STDs and was suffering from a hard case of the ebola virus.
