Hmm... I think I'm going to order Beatmania IIDX 15 today. Waffling between getting that or TVC without a stick, and I just can't play the latter with the shitty classic controller, so I'll get Beatmania 15. I'm gonna have more $$ shortly, tho.

Hoping it's not too bad Friday night, gotta head out to Oak Forest for a party. But I guess if shit hits the fan, I'll just have to stay in and play TvC (legit game finally showed up, but where the fuck is my adapter!)

How Akuma Stole Christmas

Every fighter from Capcom liked Christmas a lot,
But the demon secret boss from Capcom did not.

Akuma hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Besides writers at Gamefaqs, no one quite knows the reason.
It could be that his tattoo was glowing too bright,
It could be, perhaps, that his beads were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his black belt was two sizes too small.

But,
Whatever the reason,
His belt or tattoos,
He stood there on Christmas Eve, pitying the foo's,
Staring down from his cave with a pissed, badass frown
At the overused sprites that lived in the town.
For he knew everyone down in Capcom beneath
Was busy now, buying gifts for Zangief.

"And they're putting off training!" he snarled with a sneer.
"Tomorrow is Christmas! It's practically here!"
Then he growled, as he started his evil vibrating,
"I MUST stop Christmas and get Ryu to start hating!"
For, tomorrow, he knew...

...All the Capcom girls and boys
Would wake up bright and early. They'd rush for their toys!
And then! Oh, the noise! Oh, the noise! Noise! Noise! Noise!
Like Karin's bitchy laughing! The NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! NOISE!

Some mousse for Charlie, Kakyoin, and Rose.
For Felicia and Midler some new decent clothes.
For Vega a new mask and a shiny new claw.
And for the succubus Lilith, a new push-up bra.

And THEN
They'd do something he hated a lot!
Every fighter from big Victor to little Servbot,
Would stand close together, with Christmas bells ringing.
They'd stand hand-in-hand. And those fools would start singing!

Then he'd taunt! He'd taunt!
AND he'd TAUNT! TAUNT! TAUNT! TAUNT!
And the more Akuma thought of Dan Hibiki taunting,
The more he thought, "I must stop that village idiot's flaunting!"
"I've been putting up with this for about eight years now!
"I MUST stop Christmas from coming!
...But HOW?"

Then he got an idea!
An awful idea!
GOUKI
GOT A SATSUI NO HADOU NI MEZAMETA IDEA!

"I know just what to do!" Akuma grunted with glee.
And he made a quick Santy Claus hat and a gi.
And he chuckled, and posed "Their cheer I will thresh!"
"With this gi and this hat, I'll be Christmas made flesh!"

"All I need is a reindeer..."
Akuma looked around.
But since he used them for target practice, there was none to be found.
Did that stop the old Gouki...?

"No!" yelled the man with the tattoo of Ten,
"If I can't find a reindeer, I'll make one in Mu-gen!"
So he called his dog Iggi. And he took rubber band
Then he tied a big horn on top of his Stand.

THEN
He loaded some sacks
For his war against Yule
And then he hitched up poor Iggi
And his Stand called the Fool.

Then Akuma said "Go..."
And the sleigh started down
Toward the homes where the shotos
Lay KOed in their town.

All their windows were dark. Quiet snow filled the scene.
All the fighters were all dreaming without Death 13
When he came to the first house in the square.

"This is stop number one," The old Demon Claus hissed
And he climbed to the roof, "I'm the Master of Fist!"

Then he slid down the chimney. With very little room,
But if Santa could do it, then so could the Kume.
He got stuck only once, for a moment or two.
But then he just teleported out of the fireplace flue
Where Light's bots' stockings were all hung in a row.
"Stockings are for the weak. They'll be the first things to go!"

Then he floated on one leg, with a frown that was sour,
Around the whole room, and he took every power!
Shadow Stars! Hard Punches! And strength from the Guts!
Search Snakes! Gemini Lasers! And a boomerang that cuts!
And he stuffed them in bags. Then with a strong firm grab,
He through them straight up the chimney and out of the lab!

Then he punked out all the presents and goodies with glee.
"And NOW!" grinned Gouki, "I will shoryuken the tree!"

And the demon made a fist. His digits starting to curl.
When he heard a small sound of a young robot girl.
He turned around fast, and he saw a small soul.
Little cute Roll, who was out for a stroll.

Akuma had been caught by Mega Man's sister
"State your business runt." The old demon hissed at her.
She stared with wide eyes and said, "Santy Claus, why,
"Why are you kicking our tree's ass? WHY?"

Akuma needed a lie so he gave it a shot,
But all he could mutter was "Dot dot dot dot dot."
"You're that mean Akuma!" Roll jumped with a shout,
And in desperation Akuma knocked her ass out.
He shoryukened the tree straight through the roof.
And with a cool shadow effect he was gone with a poof!

And the one speck of food
That was left in this stop,
Was a crumb that was even too small for Flip Flop

Then he went to other houses,
Stealing gifts by the batch
He even went to Sagat's place,
And stole his eye patch!

It was quarter past dawn...
All the fighters in bed
All the fighters still KOed
When he packed up his sled,
Packed it up with their presents! Like Demitri's new casket
And Baby Bonnie Hood's brand shiny new weapon basket!

Three thousand feet up! Up the side of a volcano,
He'd lay the smack on the gifts like he was Captain Insano!
"Those warriors are weak!" he was evilly humming.
"They're finding out now that no Christmas is coming!
"They're just waking up! I know just what they'll do!
"Their mouths will hang open and they will start puking.
"Then they'll get into fights and Ken will shout out Hadoken!"

"That's a noise," he grunted
"That I simply must hear!"
So he paused. And Akuma put a hand to his ear.
And he did hear a sound rising over the snow.
It started in low. Then it started to grow...

But the sound wasn't sad!
Why, this sound sounded glad!
It couldn't be so!
Yet Dan was still taunting and screaming for dad!

He stared down at Capcom!
He narrowed his eyes!
Then he shook!
What he saw was a shocking surprise!

"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!"

Every fighter from Q to Cap Commando,
Was singing! Without any presents to show!
He HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming!
IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!

And Akuma, with his sandals ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?
"They should be throwing Hadokens, hitting Shorykens!
"Koryukens, Gadokens, and Shippu-Bam-Bookens!"
And he puzzled three hours, as he was mad to the core,
Then Gouki thought of something he hadn't before!
And he nodded with a smile and crossed his arms as he stood.
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...is about being good!"

But this touching scene was soon interrupted,
As he sensed the one man who was just as corrupted.
He saw Juni and Juli and Birdie and Bison,
And Balrog the boxer who resembles Mike Tyson.
As he saw the all the gifts ravaged by Shadaloo,
He thought "I know now what I have to do."
But the odds were against him and the fight was not pleasant,
For it seemed the reformed Akuma would not save a present.
"Soon I will add these gifts to my Psycho Drive,
"And then," Bison smiled "I'll be the strongest alive!"

And what happened then...?
Well...in Capcom they say
That Akuma's super bar
Grew three levels that day!
And he became Shin Gouki as his power went max,
And he gained the strength of ten Hugos and one or two Jax.

And the spirit of Christmas helped fuel his resistance,
As he beat Shadaloo within an inch of existence.
After only a moment they were all screamin'
As he took most of them out with his Raging Demon.
It would have been better if M. Bison ran,
Because Akuma yelled "Kongou Kokuretsuzan!"
His now green tattoo was glowing for all of them to see,
"Because it is Christmas I will let you five be."

And for a minute his belt didn't feel quite so tight,
And he traveled with his dog through the bright morning light
The people of Capcom were more than good sports,
And Adon was freezing from just wearing shorts.
He gave back every gift. He gave back every toy,
For Dee Jay, for Tron Bonne, for Raptor, for Roy!
For Anakaris, for Chun Li, for Q-Bee, for Ken,
For Jill, for Saturn, and Akuma's rival Gen!
For Fei Long, for Hinata, for June, for Hol Horse!
Did he apologize to the injured girl Roll?
But of course!
For Jotaro, and for Dan who he liked the least,
And he...

...HE HIMSELF...!

I'm going to try and start my own little fighting game collection for ps3. Is Virtua Fighter 5 worth it? So far, all I have is STHD and SC4. I also have Battle Fantasia on the way, but that'll be a while.

I love Virtua Fighter 5, but if you can get the 360 version, don't even consider the PS3 one. If you don't have a 360, though, the PS3 one is good enough.

Every fighter from Capcom liked Christmas a lot,
But the demon secret boss from Capcom did not.

Akuma hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Besides writers at Gamefaqs, no one quite knows the reason.
It could be that his tattoo was glowing too bright,
It could be, perhaps, that his beads were too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his black belt was two sizes too small.

But,
Whatever the reason,
His belt or tattoos,
He stood there on Christmas Eve, pitying the foo's,
Staring down from his cave with a pissed, badass frown
At the overused sprites that lived in the town.
For he knew everyone down in Capcom beneath
Was busy now, buying gifts for Zangief.

"And they're putting off training!" he snarled with a sneer.
"Tomorrow is Christmas! It's practically here!"
Then he growled, as he started his evil vibrating,
"I MUST stop Christmas and get Ryu to start hating!"
For, tomorrow, he knew...

...All the Capcom girls and boys
Would wake up bright and early. They'd rush for their toys!
And then! Oh, the noise! Oh, the noise! Noise! Noise! Noise!
Like Karin's bitchy laughing! The NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! NOISE!

Some mousse for Charlie, Kakyoin, and Rose.
For Felicia and Midler some new decent clothes.
For Vega a new mask and a shiny new claw.
And for the succubus Lilith, a new push-up bra.

And THEN
They'd do something he hated a lot!
Every fighter from big Victor to little Servbot,
Would stand close together, with Christmas bells ringing.
They'd stand hand-in-hand. And those fools would start singing!

Then he'd taunt! He'd taunt!
AND he'd TAUNT! TAUNT! TAUNT! TAUNT!
And the more Akuma thought of Dan Hibiki taunting,
The more he thought, "I must stop that village idiot's flaunting!"
"I've been putting up with this for about eight years now!
"I MUST stop Christmas from coming!
...But HOW?"

Then he got an idea!
An awful idea!

GOT A SATSUI NO HADOU NI MEZAMETA IDEA!

"I know just what to do!" Akuma grunted with glee.
And he made a quick Santy Claus hat and a gi.
And he chuckled, and posed "Their cheer I will thresh!"
"With this gi and this hat, I'll be Christmas made flesh!"

"All I need is a reindeer..."
Akuma looked around.
But since he used them for target practice, there was none to be found.
Did that stop the old Gouki...?

"No!" yelled the man with the tattoo of Ten,
"If I can't find a reindeer, I'll make one in Mu-gen!"
So he called his dog Iggi. And he took rubber band
Then he tied a big horn on top of his Stand.

THEN
He loaded some sacks
For his war against Yule
And then he hitched up poor Iggi
And his Stand called the Fool.

Then Akuma said "Go..."
And the sleigh started down
Toward the homes where the shotos
Lay KOed in their town.

All their windows were dark. Quiet snow filled the scene.
All the fighters were all dreaming without Death 13
When he came to the first house in the square.

"This is stop number one," The old Demon Claus hissed
And he climbed to the roof, "I'm the Master of Fist!"

Then he slid down the chimney. With very little room,
But if Santa could do it, then so could the Kume.
He got stuck only once, for a moment or two.
But then he just teleported out of the fireplace flue
Where Light's bots' stockings were all hung in a row.
"Stockings are for the weak. They'll be the first things to go!"

Then he floated on one leg, with a frown that was sour,
Around the whole room, and he took every power!
Shadow Stars! Hard Punches! And strength from the Guts!
Search Snakes! Gemini Lasers! And a boomerang that cuts!
And he stuffed them in bags. Then with a strong firm grab,
He through them straight up the chimney and out of the lab!

Then he punked out all the presents and goodies with glee.
"And NOW!" grinned Gouki, "I will shoryuken the tree!"

And the demon made a fist. His digits starting to curl.
When he heard a small sound of a young robot girl.
He turned around fast, and he saw a small soul.
Little cute Roll, who was out for a stroll.

Akuma had been caught by Mega Man's sister
"State your business runt." The old demon hissed at her.
She stared with wide eyes and said, "Santy Claus, why,
"Why are you kicking our tree's ass? WHY?"

Akuma needed a lie so he gave it a shot,
But all he could mutter was "Dot dot dot dot dot."
"You're that mean Akuma!" Roll jumped with a shout,
And in desperation Akuma knocked her ass out.
He shoryukened the tree straight through the roof.
And with a cool shadow effect he was gone with a poof!

And the one speck of food
That was left in this stop,
Was a crumb that was even too small for Flip Flop

Then he went to other houses,
Stealing gifts by the batch
He even went to Sagat's place,
And stole his eye patch!

It was quarter past dawn...
All the fighters in bed
All the fighters still KOed
When he packed up his sled,
Packed it up with their presents! Like Demitri's new casket
And Baby Bonnie Hood's brand shiny new weapon basket!

Three thousand feet up! Up the side of a volcano,
He'd lay the smack on the gifts like he was Captain Insano!
"Those warriors are weak!" he was evilly humming.
"They're finding out now that no Christmas is coming!
"They're just waking up! I know just what they'll do!
"Their mouths will hang open and they will start puking.
"Then they'll get into fights and Ken will shout out Hadoken!"

"That's a noise," he grunted
"That I simply must hear!"
So he paused. And Akuma put a hand to his ear.
And he did hear a sound rising over the snow.
It started in low. Then it started to grow...

But the sound wasn't sad!
Why, this sound sounded glad!
It couldn't be so!
Yet Dan was still taunting and screaming for dad!

He stared down at Capcom!
He narrowed his eyes!
Then he shook!
What he saw was a shocking surprise!

"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!
"We're gonna take you for a ride!"

Every fighter from Q to Cap Commando,
Was singing! Without any presents to show!
He HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming!
IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!

And Akuma, with his sandals ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?
"They should be throwing Hadokens, hitting Shorykens!
"Koryukens, Gadokens, and Shippu-Bam-Bookens!"
And he puzzled three hours, as he was mad to the core,
Then Gouki thought of something he hadn't before!
And he nodded with a smile and crossed his arms as he stood.
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...is about being good!"

But this touching scene was soon interrupted,
As he sensed the one man who was just as corrupted.
He saw Juni and Juli and Birdie and Bison,
And Balrog the boxer who resembles Mike Tyson.
As he saw the all the gifts ravaged by Shadaloo,
He thought "I know now what I have to do."
But the odds were against him and the fight was not pleasant,
For it seemed the reformed Akuma would not save a present.
"Soon I will add these gifts to my Psycho Drive,
"And then," Bison smiled "I'll be the strongest alive!"

And what happened then...?
Well...in Capcom they say
That Akuma's super bar
Grew three levels that day!
And he became Shin Gouki as his power went max,
And he gained the strength of ten Hugos and one or two Jax.

And the spirit of Christmas helped fuel his resistance,
As he beat Shadaloo within an inch of existence.
After only a moment they were all screamin'

There's a Shinsengumi in Fountain Valley, both a ramen one and a yakitori one. On the way to Fountain Valley from SD, you're going to take the 405. There's a Santouka in the Mitsuwa in Costa Mesa, which is just after Irvine. Way farther north on the 405 you can hit up my area, Torrance, which has a Santouka, a Shinsengumi, and another place called Asa Ramen, and yet another place close to me called Shin-mama Ramen.. The waitresses at Asa double as the waitresses from the snack bar next door, good eye candy.

Like JEKKI, I'm a Santouka man. Shin-mama ain't bad though, but I love the sweet seafood elements in Santouka too much. Never really liked Shinsengumi, and I want to visit Asa Ramen again sometime. I only went once. I think the waitress liked me, or at least, she'd smile every time I looked at her out of the corner of my eye.

SFIV on 1UP Show thoughts...

2D with 3D graphics was 100% the right call to make. The game looks beautiful.

For some reason, I think it will be easier to think of SFIV from a technical standpoint(like I do for Virtua Fighter 5) than the other SF games.

Ryu's "Hadoken" yell sounds slightly more annoying when repeated over and over than it did in previous Street Fighters. But I could be mistaken.

I didn't notice any other issues with the voice acting. I wonder if it will have the Japanese audio?

I love the extra Double Wrist Neck Breaker they've added to Cammy's Spin Drive Smasher.

Fei Long looks like he'd be pretty kick-ass to play as.

Was that lava level on the 1UP Show new stage for the home version?

And was the jungle stage at night I saw a home console exclusive as well?

I really don't like anything about Seth(the SFIV fighter, not Killian). He just seems like a typical or generic end boss.

The fact that the SFIV TE is wired only for PS3/PC kills the deal for me, no matter how nice it is (and it is!).

The majority of my FG collection is on PS2 and DC, so I need sticks that are compatible with those or easily through converters. A good chunk of my FG collection is import PS2 FG's, so I need to have a PSX/PS2 wired stick.

I totally agree. The good thing about it is that as a result of playing to the fans, the fans return the favor by picking the games up. I wish other companies*cough*Nintendo*cough* would put the same amount of effort into listening to their fans as Capcom does.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but Mad Catz is doing the same thing with their sticks & pads. They brought in someone who knows his shit when it comes to sticks(MarkMan), plus they're making what is, most likely, the best stick released in the states this generation with the T.E. stick and it's Sanwa parts.

The moral of this story? Play to your fanbase.

I hear the PSP version has the same slowdown. My guess is same for Wii but who knows. I just want it on PSP due to portability. I've played fighters on my PSP more than all other genres on the system (save Monster Hunter Frdm II... nearing 200 hours).

So anyway that tournament was small and poorly ran. I went 3 - 2 in HDR and 1 - 1 in 3s (I left before I was up in losers because it was taking forever!, was there for about 3 and a half hours and only got to play 3s twice).

Anyway I lost to a good Urien in 3s and a solid E. Honda in HDR. Overall, it was a pretty big waste of my time.

BUT! Tat vs. Cap just keeps on getting better. I love that goddamn game. I just wish that the Tat characters had 3p outfits like the Capcom characters do.

Also, my Buddy might be getting rid of his copy pretty soon. So if you were thinking about picking it up still Chac or anyone else, I might be able to get it to you for like 10 bucks off + free shipping? I'll let you know ASAP.

I finally got around to dusting off my wii and installing GeckoOS to play TvC. I have mixed feelings about it, being a huge MvC2 lover. For one, im sad that my PS2->GC adapter i got at the outdoor swapmeet for 1 dollar didnt work =( I also am sad so much of the game is in japanese. I finished the game using the wavebird and it was really easy.. After i finished the game, i instantly wanted to play it again, which is a big deal since i hardly feel that way about games these days. So definitely going to have to order a proper PS2->GC Adapter so i can use my arcade stick hotness.

Link the hadouken with a normal before you do the motion, may help a bit.

it's real good!! It goes into the system mechanics of the game, then goes into each character.

For the characters, it gives a movelist, move properties (armor break, overhead, etc), combos, and strategies!! It not only gives matchup info when playing as the character, but also you can look up a character and read what moves can counter that character as well!!

anyway, Hardcoregamer magazine new issue is out and... it has that (almost) exact same guide in it!!

the one in the magazine is missing a lot of the in-depth strats and doesnt list combos, but what info is left is in there and it's awesome!!

and it makes a lot of sense too coz the guy who wrote that guide used to work for the arcade, and still goes there a lot so most likely he also wrote the guide that chills at the arcade.

I can confirm that the Mayflash Joybox adapter works perfect with the Tekken 5 PS2 stick. Just played a bunch of games with TvC on the wii without issue. I mapped all 4 buttons to the bottom row due to the button placement. Works out fine. Now i need to learn some of the cool combos!

Joysticks in fighting games would be less of an issue if console-makers (outside old Sega) would make decent controllers for fighting games. I wound up with a couple Saturn joysticks but those were more a matter of finding bargains as opposed to "Oh my god this controller sucks for Street Fighter, I need a stick." There isn't a single first party controller this generation that is good for fighting games compared to the 2nd gen Saturn pads or the 6-button Genesis pads.

I think it's funny that the closest thing to a good fighting game controller this gen is the PS3 controller, and even that is basically the PS2 controller, but with worse triggers and analog sticks. You have to intentionally break something that used to work to accomplish that, and it's a little disheartening that somebody would get paid to do that.

My g/f's school threw together a day long fighting game tournament. Many games like GGXX Slash, 3S and so on were being played. The person running it said no sticks though because it gives players an unfair advantage.

I wanted to laugh, hit myself in the face with a brick and the tourney guy with my fist. Shit makes no sense.

On a random side note my HRAP 2 SA came in the mail today. I was at work for 9+ hours and was baffled to see a giant box still sitting on my doorstep. How it sat there untouched (or stolen) by anyone after UPS dropped it off for almost 10 hours is beyond me.

Dude, my friend bought his brothers the big Unicron action figure a few years ago. It's huge. He got them on clearance for 25 bucks each at TRU. They were 27 and 29 years old at that time. :lol:

Hmm, wireless would be sexy. I don't see why a bluetooth stick wouldn't be possible. The difference between wired and bluetooth in response time/data transfer is to the order of tenths of milliseconds.

But i believe Markman said the sticks were wired.
