Fighting Chuns as Hawk is just annoying, cause all they do is jump. I approach, they jump. I jump, they jump. I sneeze because I'm sick, they jump. So I just started jumping towards them with jab sticking out, and it works awesome.

Although I hate her damn grab priority. I swear, I'm getting her in the jab>Hammer lock, then she busts out of it faster than anyone, and throws me.
That's pretty much all a chun player needs. Heck I'm sure there are turbo $$$s out there just holding forward and mp.

Btw, can't THawks SRK beat out Chun's jumping lk? I think you just have to do it late. But then there's j. down forward kick which eats SRKs...

Hawk's SRK beats Chun's aerials, but Chun always jump kicks my Dive, which kills it. I guess I get too frustrated, and Dive a lot, so it's easy to see coming. I've been getting the hang of the Hammer lock, and I can do it against most characters without fucking up. I wish his super was more useful, but by the time I get his bar full, one regular Hammer is usually enough to finish the job...except that one match with Zangief I mentioned earlier.

I try to get it on Akuma though, because sometimes I just like being a dick. :P

But god damn to I hate fighting shotos as chun-li. She really has very little to get out of fireball traps/jump-in forward-cr.RH.

Best bet is to not get in those situations, but it's tough.

I feel much more confident in Sagat, Guile, and Blanka matches now though. Most XBL players that use them use shallow tactics as well. Vega is a whole different thing. Chun destroys him on the ground but it's basically Rock/Paper/Scissors when he jumps off the wall.
shotos as chunli, chun generally has the advantage.
if they wanna fireball war just trade fireballs. chun's super is way more useful and game changing, because then you can blow through fireballs. her ridiculous throw range means that you can punish any whiffed psychic DP with a throw, and you should always be able to beat jump ins with jump straight up roundhouse.

against vega on the wall, just jump back and hit fierce. you'll hit him out of the air if he does a regular wall dive and if he goes for the throw you'll throw him first.

If it uses the same Sanwa JLF I'm using it's definetly not quiet. I've used it while my GF is sleeping in the room and she doesn't mind, but she's a dead sleeper.

I like the clickiness though - Gives you some response. One thing that's hard to get used to is doing sweeping fireball type motions on the Sanwa, since it has a more squared base, you need to move more like Down, Right, Up with the stick than just Down to Forward.

I mostly play Chun though so I don't notice that as much. If I get into playing Ken I'll have to get used to that.

Pretty much. I love my JLF. If I want to make some noise though, I'll go mash on my Happ stick. The buttons and stick both use cherry switches on Happ parts, so everything you do is click click click. :)

You just need to get used to a square gate. I usually ride it when I'm doing motions.

The octagonal gate means there's less space to hit the diagonals, right? And there will be less travel in the diagonal directions?

I'm tossing around the idea of having the main hero named Rero, or something that sounds the same and is spelled differently. Also possibly considering one of his weapons to be silver drum sticks.

MarkMan is probably going to be the coolest character in the film from where production stands so far. Black full body costume, still have yet to decide on face mask design and weapon. He's the anti-hero.

JEKKI is going to be the most fun to play as, due to how the costume is going to be built.

I don't start shooting until either next week or the week after due to homework and an art show this weekend that I have a video animation to finish for.

I don't have a problem with ROM anymore, I've gotten it up to 40ish hits in a match against good players.

probably not - PSP is piracy central.

SRK/Gfaqs is reporting a seemingly major glitch in STHD- Analog inputs are registered along with d-pad inputs. This allows holding back charge on P1 side while walking forward.

This means charge attacks like Sumo Headbutt and Supers like Dic's can be done while walking forward. A bit impractical, physically, but someone could get absurdly good with Honda with this, I think.

There's youtube vids of people doing walk up jab headbutts over and over..

Seems the origin of the problem is not with STHD, but more with the original arcade and the controller in use. The arcade would also register two inputs at once, but with just a joystick there's no way to do it. With two input methods on a pad, it becomes possible.

Now a lot of characters have stored supers, not just Chun ;(

Speaking of Stored Supers, I used it today to take out a Sagat who had me on fireball wars the whole match.. put in the motion, and jumped over and popped the super. It felt so good.

Fate Unlimited Codes is pretty execution heavy. You have to do alot of jump cancels to get the big juggle combos to link.

Some guy called me a a POS on XBL after i beat him in SSF2THD Remix. i laughed when i saw it and then we kept on playing, i did everything i could to piss him off even further. Mixing in throws, corner traps, etc. It was so awesome. I could feel his frustration from my controller. I realized that the only way to get better is to play people that can beat you easily and find out why you are getting owned so often, its how you better your strategy per player. Guess they have to learn the hard way.

Street Fighter IV is the only game I'm genuinely excited to play. Maybe it's because I actually got some play time at the arcade instead of just screenshots, video clips, and all the other crap that other games put out before release.

Not to burst anyone's bubble or sound like an FG elitist (and I randomly do), but there is a big difference between getting good enough/showing off to beat scrub friends and actually playing good competition. I would love to see a new generation get good enough to start competing at their local scenes/tourneys/ranbats and giving FG vets a run for their money. Would love to see future EVO's and Regionals pop up some new names this year.

He gathered mostly a bunch of guys he worked with who played fighting games, loved them but were at a beginner/average level. He asked myself and another one of my friends to come hang out and it gave the three of us an opportunity to answer questions and guide as we played. Some were open to learn others I could see were a little discouraged by high level play (one even mocked it).

I just have seen too many people who genuinely want to learn FG competitively but either are fine with beating up on their scrub friends, never want to take the time/practice to learn more or get extremely discouraged when playing players better than them/top players.

Agreed. To stretch what Jim and said, this is a fighting game renaissance. Let's hope all these kids getting sticks, learning stick building, getting to FG games, as Rolento said get good enough to be solid competition.

I think with online gaming slowly becoming viable, competitive fighters will change forever. I'd actually be really happy if fighting games started to follow a regular patch schedule, to iron out bugs in gameplay/balance.

coz it's not even like I'm fighting an opponent... it's like I am fighting MYSELF!!

against a lot of easy noob characters, they can mash out of your block strings, it sucks!!!

against ppl like Arakune and Rachel, they can neutralize your jumps by throwing shyt in the air.

that really sux coz Litchi cant initiate a combo with a low attack while she has staff, u need to get in off an IAD or punishing a whiff.

regardless, when I lose I dont kno why... but when I win I dont kno why either... frustration!!

Today was Day 1 of California Regionals so I thought it would be cool to do a different type of show today. I set up my gear in the back of Denjin Arcade and got a bunch of players that were there today to stop by and chat with me for a few minutes so that you guys who weren’t able to come could see what you missed out on. :)

We started off talking about the Kai vs. Fatbear $300 money match, so up first is Fatbear talking about how he thinks the match will go, followed by Kai talking about how the match will go. After that, they played the match (Kai won 10-5) and then I did a post game interview with him followed up with various guests including:

CvS2 is unsupported. Marvel has slowdown and some glitches. SF3 has slowdown on certain stages when you are in the air.

Yeah. The Saturn version with the 4 MB cart is $$$. You should be able to get it fairly cheap on eBay (at least it used to go for about 15 dollars when I was gonna sell my extra copy.)

KOF 02/03 has boxes around the characters, but otherwise works good. I haven't tried neowave and I think I sold it.

Rouge is a lot more useful because she could steal moves from the other characters. Hadoken from Ryu, Raging Demon from Akuma, etc

We usually do see the games eventually. I think the only time we haven't was in the case of KOF 94 Rebout. But yeah, SNKPUSA is pathetic when it comes to releasing stuff over here. They didn't even need to do anything to the disc... it was probably already in English...
