I will try and keep it to regulars mostly in here, as getting any CAG with PS3/360 online will be a little out of hand. Yup....FG Thread regulars only for now. PS3/360 SFIV threads can handle themselves :)

Still waiting on kainzero, MarkMan, JEKKI, PhrostByte, NinjaDog, am I missing any other FG regulars? Where the hell did GuileWasNK go?

Those 4 are who I'm gonna be practicing with, although I'll be taking Bison to the GS tournament when it happens. No Hawk in SFIV, and I've never had luck with 'Gief to try and use him.

Of all the times I went to SJSU to play SFIV, no one ever played El Fuerte. The one day someone did I played as Abel and thought to myself..."What the hell am I supposed to do". All over the place

I like how the El Fuerte player in smallwind's video made use of his speed and closing/evasion moves. I also like the wall jumping, too...he's kind of like a smaller 'gief with Chun Li moves/speed..

I like the family/friends like atmosphere we have in the FG thread among regulars and we always manage to keep competition high but fun/friendly.

I'm sure this has been discussed endlessly, but could someone tell me how this stick (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=42265&affID=77777&sourceID=FKSJxY2VJAk-IqiajhF_2TKgnLa35c5z6g) would compare to the upcoming SFIV ones? I'm well aware it's probably much worse, but would it make for a good beginner stick?

I was playing some fighters with people the other night and someone remarked that I played better with a stick than a pad. So having something to fool around with until I plunk down for a more expensive one might be fun.

Edit: Hmm. Reviews around the 'net aren't very favorable.

Its the same thing as the hori ex2. I would go with the Fightstick SE if you were looking for a stick that is both affordable and not that bad, it's also mod friendly which is a plus.

Ex2 is fine for beginners though, you'll just begin to notice its shortcomings after a while.

Mmmm. When I buy things, I tend to really take durability into account. And I'll notice imperfections and problems really quickly, which is something else that bothers me.

I guess I'm starting to lean more toward just getting the $80 stick, because I can always mod it up to near-TE stick quality. That way I've got a stopgap solution in the meantime that gives me a quality controller, but allows for the expansion later on. I guess if I ever get really antsy about changing the artwork, I can find a solution to that later on.

Or hell - if this supposed second shipment of the TE appears, maybe I can use the intermittent months to consciously save for it. :p

Hmm, I just called and apparently my local GS is still taking preorders for the SFIV Collector's Edition. So now it's put-up or shut-up time! I'm still on the fence with the CE but today I'll decide one way or the other

PRO: I can get a few bonus costumes without spending MS points and feeling like a tool
CON: The "Brawler Pack" would not have been my first choice

PRO: I'm getting an HDTV soon so that anime movie sure will look nice
CON: It's just a movie and it'll probably come out on Blu-ray anyway

PRO: I am a sucker for soundtracks and it would cost a lot to import that
CON: none really

PRO: I've got $45 in gift cards; CE for $40 out of pocket is pretty sweet
CON: but is it as sweet as getting a regular edition for just twenty bucks???

Eh, I might go for it. Basically the extra $20 gets me a bunch of things that I wouldn't spend the money on individually. Like the kind of stuff I would love to get as a gift, but wouldn't have justified the expense if I had the option to buy on my own, separately. I love VG soundtracks, but they are very much in the "luxury item" spending tier for me, which I try not to indulge. And if I DID indulge in this case, I'd clearly be paying more than $20.

Ah, screw it... if the guy on the phone was legit and they really DO have some available, I'm pretty sure I'll go ahead and pre-order it. If they don't have any left, I'll just leave it at that and go for a regular version later on. It's in the hands of fate now!!!

For SF4, I read somewhere that the animated feature that comes with the Collector's Edition is just a bunch of spliced scenes from the game. Wasn't that in a review somewhere? Maybe I misread it (and I hope I did), but if that's the case, then it won't be released separately (not substantial enough).

Count me in! I'm getting it for both 360 and PS3, and then will upgrade my MAME cab and lappy when the PC version comes out. Got my copy of Waku Waku 7 today! It's better than I thought it was going to be. I've started by using Politank Z (sp?). He seems to be the easiest to use just going by the move lists.

alright I went ahead and placed my SFIV pre-order!! Looks like I'll be in for Day 1 after all (or whichever day Wednesday ends up being... "Day 2" I guess?). I am also entitled to Ryu's headband, although I doubt Ryu actually wore a headband with the Street Fighter IV logo on it.

Oh and I learned that there is apparently a bootleg SFIV arcade machine like ten minutes from my apartment?!?!? According to the GameStop guy it's at "Tri-County," which is this weird indoor flea market type of place. I'll have to check that out, just to see it (not much sense paying a dollar per game to play it at this point).

Anyway I'll be roughing it on the 360 pad for a week or so but it'll be fun to be a part of the launch frenzy! Heh I can just imagine what it's gonna look like going through my friends list next week...

Wow. Launch party was sick. It far exceeded my expectations. Probably the 2nd best party i've been to for a 3rd party game publisher (Eidos had a crazy one back at an Atlanta E3). There had to have been nearly 50 SFIV setups. A row of head-to-head arcade cabinets and plenty of the console version with all characters unlocked. There was definitely some good players there and a few OG's i haven't seen in several years. Great night :)

Music was awesome. Dj Qbert, Z-Trip, The Knux. And they pretty much had everyone from the Street Fighter movie there except Kristin Kreuk lol. Also saw that crazy asian girl BaiLing and Ryan Starr from american idol...she was hot!!!

Oh...one of my friends walked away with SFIV on PS3.

It was never shut down but if you didn't get there early, you barely made it inside to see anything. I got there late and didn't bother even trying to get in. By the time they reached capacity, there were still like 2500 people outside.

I've got it and it's decent. It depends on what you are looking for in a book about Japanese arcade games. It's not the most detailed book and the writing is amateurish, but it has a lot of interesting stuff in it that I had no idea about. There's a chapter about shmups, one about fighting games, rhythm games, video mahjongg, crane machines, photo booths, card games, retro stuff etc. Lots of pics and bright colors.

Agreed. It's really nothing personal to people dropping in to be added to the SFIV FGT List.

Almost everyone in that list has contributed an ungodly amount to this thread over the years. As I mentioned before the FGT is a very competitive, friendly and tight knit group. The small number of exceptions I did make, were for posters I saw in and out of the thread, but have been very consistent in contributing to conversions as of late.

Again, the PS3/360 sub forums have their own respective SFIV for discussion/matchmaking. The FGT SFIV was compiled for FGT Regulars only.

I saw nasty n8 and put the assassin's creed on him, but he survived wtf?!?!

My local stores are insanely strict on corp policy (which doesn't make a shit crumb of sense since we are over 2000+ miles from the next state--what the hell is corp gonna do, drive their amphibious tank over here and personally scold the DMs, yeesh?).

The good part about that glitch is that they'll offer free shipping if the item ends up being out of stock in the store you selected. Since that glitch happens so much, you can often exploit it to get free shipping when you normally wouldn't be able to.

An employee at the GameStop I was at yesterday claims that the game is NOT street dated. Who knows how legit that is... but time, I suppose, will tell.

my friend was playing PS3 version online last night. He was doing the arcade mode where people can challenge you while you play the single player game. He played mostly against japan players and it was smooth :applause:

At lunch we were playing ps3 and 360. The ps3 version has some loading time for vs matches...at least 5 seconds. None of our systems had the game installed to HD though.

I can't even bring myself to play SSF2THDR right now. I've been getting calls from buddies talking about how Gamestop has screwed them over on their preorders. It's like they have been wiped from the system....like they never even knew the stick existed. It's crazy.

I have both 360/PS3 TE sticks preordered at my local Game Crazy, and the manager called to tell me that VERY LIMITED supplies will be available at launch. They can't even do the midnight launch/tourney now because they won't be recieving the game until Tues morning! Either way, I should be good, because I preordered WAAAAAAAAAAY before these things were an item.

Looks like SF mania is definitely back and in full effect though!:bouncy:

Alright, let's get this squared away. The FGT List was made to get all the FGT Regulars together for the SFIV release. Many of us play against each other (some of us for years) and I felt that it would be easier if there was just a master list.

Instead of flooding an impending busy thread (with SFIV release days away) with questions about "Hey guys, what did you get SFIV on?" or "Hey guys, here is my gamertag if anyone wants to play", or "Hey, who is everyone playing. I think Rufus izzz kewl!!!" I decided to just gather all that information so we can converse about other things.

It is by no means a "You cannot play SFIV with us if we are on the list and you aren't" list. Send anyone you want to play and if they want to play they'll obviously accept the friend request.

I got my pre-order for SFIV reg. edition 360 @ GS, so I'll prolly have that at least.

I don't expect to get SFIV CE PS3 from DD for a while, assuming they even allocated one for me. :p

And the way things have been going regarding a stick, I'll probably be playing on my EX, unless there is some kind of miracle whereby I can snag an SE from BB B&M.

If I do get an SE, I may have to cancel my TE as it's tax time and funds are tight right now. :p

I haven't been this amped for a game....maybe since Brawl. Yeah, I'll say Brawl. I was one of those teenagers in '91-'92 who was standing in line waiting to pwn everyone on CE. This game is gonna be my time machine back to those good times, since it is so heavily rooted in SF2 mechanics.

I just came from my local Game Crazy. They just got in some of their FightPads/Sticks and ironically, they are all of the PS3 variety. I picked up a Ken PS3 FightPad and the wall scroll. I hope to have a pic of the scroll up soon.

They also got in 3 PS3 Fightsticks, which are $70. The manager says that Gamestop is selling both 360 and PS3 flavors for $80....wow if that's true. Anyhoo, I'm super psyched!!:bouncy:

No, I don't think he's to be believed. The PS3 fightstick was selling on GS.com for the regular $69.99--at least, when it was available for pre-ordering.

Since the current inventory of GS B&M sticks are already ordered through, and no orders are currently being taken online at the moment, I'd say the point is moot. Just get it where you can, if it's available. Or wait until the next round...

I'm glad they kept that feature, it was (in another form) in the arcade version of SFIV too.

If say I was playing Arcade Mode, I would be open to any challenges by any other player on connected SFIV machines, even if they didn't intend to.

So is Gamestop ready to sell these the 17th or 18th? I have the rest of the week off (well unscheduled) from my other job, so I'm ready to practice. I pre-ordered mine in November, but I keep getting different days from whoever picks up at my local GS :)
