I'm reading it. It got me to actually subscribe to a comic series, something I've never done before. The story is pretty cookie cutter and not nearly as well done (so far) as SF or SFII series' by Udon, but I'm waiting to see what they do with it. I hope they haven't bitten off more than they can chew. If you haven't read them yet, I'd definitely recommend checking out the two prior SF titles.

I'm actually a little more excited about Street Fighter Legends: Chun Li. Omar Dogan's doing the art and I loved his work in Street Fighter Legends: Sakura. Also, the story/development seems to flow better when they can focus on a single character and his/her interactions with other characters.

I posted this a while back, but I picked up the Street Fighter Tribute art book for $25 off of Amazon and have no regrets. It's quite a beautiful tome. I'd suggest picking it up if you have any interest in comics/artbooks/street fighter. It's published by Udon, but has artists from all over the world ranging from amateur to Marvel/DC cover artist. I believe it's about 300 pages.

Here's what I got today...

Adding two new arcade sticks to my collection... Brings me to a grand total of 65 arcade sticks.

The ones I got today were especially notable because they are almost impossible to find mint in box nowadays. Heck, some people probably haven't even seen or heard of them. Another special thing about these two stick lever is an optical stick which is pretty much identical in construction to the Sanwa Flash arcade stick that is so sought after... An optical stick is much like the Happ Perfect 360 arcade sticks, it uses an optical sensor and has no click when registering inputs.

So, is it most likely not coming to the states? I honestly haven't heard of the brand Tatsunoko until this game was announced. Do they have a different name in the US?

Yeah, but they usually had 2 punches and 2 kick buttons at least. This game will have just plain weak, medium, and strong, and a tag button which I assume will switchs chars and be used in other partner type moves.

if it's 4 buttons it could work well just like playing darkstalkers on easy mode. Where the weak/medium punch is one button and the weak/medium kick is the other, then you have the strong punch and kick, pressing a weak punch/kick does a 3-4 hit weak/medium combo.

maybe they'll replace the tatsunoko characters with some franchise from the US so they could bring a different game here or even a MvC3 recycling this material.

A game like this should be (and probably will be) multiplatform because it'll probably outsell SFIV just like MvC outsold SF3. A game like this will easily sell a few million extra Wiis if it doesn't go multiplat.

speaking of MvC, I just sold my PS1 copy of MvC1 on Amazon for $63.99! I originally assumed it wouldn't go for much, since the lack of arcade accuracy would make it irrelevant for fighter fans. But apparently there's still a demand among collectors for it, even for unsealed copies. As soon as I realized there was money to be had, I put mine up for sale. I'll be putting the money towards that custom 360 joystick I've been wanting. :D

I had a custom disc from my DC CD-R's, this one has Capcom vs SNK 2, SF3:3s and MvC2. There's also the option to switch the soundtracks for each title.
I HOPE it's coming to XBLA/PSN, like that rumor says.

MvC sells for crazy amounts on amazon. Everything goes for more on amazon as opposed to ebay especially for sealed items. I sell lots of rare games there too bad they don't give powerseller-like discounts though. Selling a $63 game will leave you with like $50. Which is way too steep.

yeah there is no question that amazon caters to the rich crowd. You probably wouldn't get $85 for a sealed pikmin 2 on ebay that's for sure!

but ebay got better in terms of listing. It's .05 cents now and you can leave it for 30 days so they are trying to rip on amazon's structure.

The good part is ebay will give powersellers more exposure even if the price is higher than someone with worse feedback with the cheaper item. So it's good for me.

I don't get the fascination with pikmin either. It was like $12.99 at gamestop for the past 2 years now it's like $30 again.

I used to have all the versions of MvC2 but I dumped the PS2 and Xbox versions last summer to help pay for my new TV. Worked out pretty well. I think I got $96 for PS2 and $50 for Xbox. Not bad for two $5 Circuit City clearance games from 2004.

MK vs. DC can use a stick. Ship said so when he was on the CAGcast after E3. I believe he said that to move in 3D you have to press a button instead of switching from the pad to the stick on the regular controller.

It annoys me when someone loves a character, but totally drops them when they suck in the next sequel. Wish more of the competitive scene would just stick with characters they like!

I mained Guy in Alpha 1 because i liked the character...it just so happens that he was top tier. I stuck with him in A2 despite his serious drop in rankings. Myself and Choi were the only players that stuck with Guy in A2.

Abel is a cross of a grapple character and someone that can close distance in a split second. After you play with him for a few rounds, you can see how balanced he is among the characters. He is not top tier but not at the bottom.


Like Jekki said, I have yet to see anyone in SoCal use Chun-Li effectively. C.Viper might have potential but she is gonna get killed in matches VS shotos and Gief.

Balrog (Boxer) is considered among the top characters in Super Street Fighter II TURBO (the longest played SF game, competitively). Lots of top Japanese players think that Balrog is the #1 character in the game (in the right hands, of course).

He's a beast in SFIV too. He gives a lot of problematic matchups to some characters and his super armor stuff is just too buff.

Not to mention the whiff punish potential on his Ultra/Super.

+ He has a legit overhead now!

I know I have talked to a lot of my friends who are casual players who are already tired of seeing A-Groove players (like myself) consistently.

The game (as much as I love it) has also hit somewhat of a stand-still. It has hit it's peak in terms of high level play/evolution and I don't see anything surprising coming out.

CVS2 definitely has a steep learning curve. Simplicity isn't the problem. In terms of high level fighting game play, I don't think any fighting game is "simple". CVS2 has it's obvious Roll Canceling, it's emphasis on pokes/footsies, and obviously the attributes of each groove/how it affects each character.

Though 3S is still running strong, it has it's share of high level/not-so-simple tactics such as Charge Partitioning (which is rough since I'm learning Urien at the moment), Kara Canceling and so on.

We have hit sort of a brick wall with CVS2 though. Though it has a huge cast of characters and 6 grooves to choose from not every character benefits from said grooves. Sure it's fun to run an S-Bison, C-Morrigan, K-Ryu, but in terms of high level play you'll rarely see that. You'll rarely see top players pick characters that don't benefit from the groove they are in. Certain characters need Roll because Roll Canceling is a huge benefit (Vega), others need Run/Short Jump (Hibiki), some benefit from the aggressive/offensive nature of K (Rolento, Ken, Sagat, Cammy), and some benefit from breaking stock (Akuma, Morrigan). As with MVC2, it's hard to win tourneys with random characters, especially in a team based setup. CVS2 being: Meter Builder/Meter Whore/Clean-Up

As fun as it is to see people running random characters in grooves that are just as random or give said character any benefits, it's just don't happen at high level play. IMO high level play and it's state/evolution determines if a game is considered "dead" or not.

A-Groove has it's set cast, same with N, C, K and P. Also as I mentioned there just aren't enough new high level players anymore. The ones that are top either have moved their focus to other games or just don't care to play anymore (BAS).

I agree with Asian about CvS2. I was never spectacular at the game, but I went to a few tournaments so I know a little bit. Although there appears to be so many options, only certain characters are playable in certain grooves. This, like he said, leads to the high level of play in the game not necessarily evolving. I can't think of the last time I saw someone do something new in that game.

This is unlike, say, ST, which evolves. For awhile it seemed as if every Evo was being won by a different player with a different character (Ryu, Sim, Balrog, O. Sagat etc...)

Even some like Marvel, which may seem static, evolves. Remember when everyone swore up and down that Cable was the best character in the game? Remember when people didn't pick Psylocke? How about Blackheart? He used to be pretty popular.

That's why I think CvS2 isn't as popular as 3rd Strike or other games. It has nothing to do with simplicity. 3s is not an easy game to play by any means, yet competitively it is very, very popular.

And if you think Marvel is easy to play, you're out of your mind.

I finally got a XFSP adapter for the 360, so now i can use my Tekken arcade stick on the 360. Funny thing is it requires a wired 360 controller for it to work, and i dont have one. Gonna try and get one tomorrow and check it out.

I need a new fighter to play since I completely(!!!) finished Virtua Fighter 5 last night.:hot: All 1000 gamerscore points, every emblem, every item, every single quest mode arcade player. Completed to 100%. I've been at that thing since the end of June and I still hated to finish it up.:cry:
