GGs Jekki, need all the Blanka-Gief practice I can get. The kara ex hand is hard as hell to pull off, and I got punished every time I attempted it. Still need to work on it. I can't believe how many times I botched my dash buffer 720 into ultra to punish your blocked ultra. I can usually do that shit no problem, but I fucked it up so many times in that set it's ridiculous. Lost me a handful of rounds.

After playing about 30 minutes worth of randoms online (including one who rage quit as Abel's Ultra was about to give me the match), I played 13 matches with a local player. The one who knocked me out of the last CVS2 tourney I was last in :). Went 10-3 mostly with Seth. Corner BnB is too funny. Still need to get his Shoryu xx Headstomp xx Dive Kick down.

It's so refreshing to play fools I know and you guys here in FGT. I feel like my skills with Abel/Seth don't go backwards as they do when I play randoms on PSN.

The Akuma player played that match exactly like he's supposed to (aside from eating a would-be fatal ultra). Akuma-Gief is one of the most annoying matchups in the game.

Going to art school I found I had less time to even form a group (getting an art degree is just as hard as getting a law degree I'd say, though the general public thinks otherwise), and the people that are on or near campus can't hold their own other than smash bros... and everyone here already knows how much I'm a hardcore smash player :roll:

Ive been trying to get into KOF98 on GGPO so i can really get a feel for the KOF series in general. The only KOF i played a lot was KOF94 and i owned the cart for my NeoGeo when i was younger, and i only played the ryo/robert team lol.

I got a set of characters i like (iori i know pretty well, clark seems overpowered so i want to learn him, and perhaps that goro guy, or the chick chizuro who seems insanely overpowered as well). Seriously, playing it online is a excersize in futility, i get destroyed so fast. Is there a guide with pictures to get a grip on these characters, or perhaps even a video to watch. One thing i hate is the hopping around, its so hard to do on the usb saturn pad. I can hold my own in most of the fighters out there on GGPO, but when it comes to KOF im so far behind i am not even sure i can even be competitive.

Remember, i dont even know the moves for most of these characters, let alone advanced play. Any pointers?

I'll play with you if you want, but I too am learning the KoF system and metagame. One pointer though is just to not be scared of rolling. You can counter it easily by grabbing them out of the roll.

so i just came back from the bar fights

before everything started there was a huge crowd playing exhibition matches. I won 3 of them, and lost to this really good chun li player.

so my girl got hungry and she ate a delicious chicken burger thing. from what i sampled, that thing was heavenly.

the place was concentration camp crowded. it was NUTS!

i was the first one to fight one of the pros. they pitted me up against ed ma. his ken's ridiculous! i got about 3 oichios on him throughout 4 rounds.

I also saw some sick balrog ininite-ish combo coming from one of the other pro dudes using boxer. I didn't know who was playing but it was at least 14 hits with just jabs and ex rush upper. these guys were super conistent with their timing.

so we stayed and watched a few matches and then decided to check out the rest of old towne cuz we hadn't been there in a long time.

i left somewhere in the middle of the beat a pro matches. those were just sad!

i think the pros shoulda gone at it first and then proceeded with the beat a pro segment. y'know, inspire the people first. other than that, i thought it was handled smoothly and professionaly.

I'm down to go to the next one of these events, if it's within reasonable proximity. if I'd had known about it ahead of time I coulda tried gathering some friends to check it out.

Viper has a bunch of tools at her quick disposal, so its alot harder for Ken to deal with her when he gets in rock paper scissors situations (like after tatsus) than say, a Ryu(although messing up against him is much more painful).

Her aa game is also pretty buff, since she can lighting fist him out of tatsu.

About my Seth and sometimes my Abel (depending on the match-up/familiarity) . There is still a LOT I have to learn about both though. I still haven't sat down to learn FA or FADC correctly (I always cancel then a second later FA attack comes out).

Annoying? Let's talk about your Honda haha. I had to play so safe with Abel against him because of your mix-ups once you got in. I usually feel a little more comfortable when I'm not playing so safe with Abel. With Seth I had to completely change how I play against your Rog and your Honda. I usually play at a distance and throw in mix-ups when I feel comfortable with reading my opponent/match. Never really had that comfort level with your characters, so I was constantly attempting to put some space in and mix things up a little.

Next week KOFXII comes out in Japanese arcades. It will be a simultaneous release worldwide.

The board in Portland is at one of Tilt's flagship arcades (Tilt is based out of OR)... so usually a lot of arcade companies send their units there for testing to make some $$$.

Haven't heard of it being anywhere else, but I could be wrong. Lots of Portland folk testing out stuff for SRK members over on their boards. Who knows.

I try to teleport more with Seth, problem is I'm not too confident about it. I only teleport on wake-up to get out of trouble or try to get an Ultra setup. I usually only teleport to keep distance for those lovely cr./neutral FP's. Been trying to teleport--->SPD more. I also need to AA more with Seth. Keep forgetting his Shoryu can cancel into Headstomp/Dive Kick.

I love that even if you don't finish someone with Abel's Ultra, it's a free knockdown if you connect. Then it's mix-up central.

Haha, it's a bit of a two edge sword though. I can do the moves easier but I can't go for some combos as easily (i.e. DP>FADC>Ultra), plus it just feels weird jumping back and forth between a stick and dpad.

My main problem is incorporating FA's into my game properly and quickly enough, among executing combos consistently. I was ok playing you but I was playing like ass against gigan :/

I've just been watching all the Bison match vids on youtube and posted on SRK to get an idea of what works and how to play him.

So? Just means I did the challenges, nothing more. I still had fun and I don't hold back against anyone. If you thought I was going easy on you I may of been a little sloppy because I was pissed (being bothered constantly) but that's about it. You put up a good fight and it was fun fighting against many different characters.

Funny thing about Blazblue when I played it over at SJSU and SVGL, is that I had no idea what I was doing. I am pretty familiar with the GG series but when I played Blazblue with my friends I kept saying "What the hell am I doing?" :)

Headbutts should work pretty well when he tries to cross up on wake up, if they don't hit you'll at least be a decent distance away with a small recovery window.

I have been playing KOF98 on/off for the past few days and i really am not having any fun AT ALL. I even got pretty good with clark and im pretty good with iori already, but failing to find a third i like and just not having fun with the game. everyone mentions cr. jab, cr. jab, cr. short, fierce headbutt --> super with Balrog as being a BnB combo with boxer, but what advantage does that have over using cr. jab, cr. jab, cr. strong, jab dash punch --> super? I know the timing is a little more strict on the second one, but it seems way more damaging.

I understand using ultra in place of the super in the first combo (so it'd be cr. jab, cr. jab, cr. short, fierce headbutt --> ultra) and that makes sense to me, but just wondering why people would waste super in this situation....

Rog's super does a lot of damage too. And he can build meter fairly quickly. He doesn't need to do FADC out of moves, so he doesn't waste meter on those. He just either uses EX or supers.

+ due to damage scaling after the heavy buffalo, the ultra doesn't take off as much after longer strings/more hits.

When I can, I would rather hit the Ultra straight up or after cr.lk into heavy buffalo.

Tried randoms on ranked this morning and everything came down to the line. What got me all riled up was losing to the same tactics over and over. Jump back, hadoken, c.roundhouse when I jump/dash into range, DP me in the air, jump up and knock my DR/HS. I don't know why, but when I play randoms I tend to suck a lot more, plus a lot of Ryu/Ken/Akumas like to hop back into a corner and force me to go after them, because everytime they come after me, they lose.

What I do enjoy is a Ryu throwing an Ultra at me on wake up and me EX SK through it to kill him :)

I also got my first rage quit today! Ultra'd an El Fuerte as he botched a run towards me and dc'd right in the middle of it. Unfortunately, I was too worked up on finding the other foos who beat me to harass him with messages.

I don't remember rogs 4th, is vipers 3rd the super jump cancel? I just tigerkneed the shit out of everything and hoped it would work, and it did a couple of times.

do a backdash after focus attack with fuerte, makes it easier seeming, and time your lk before fuertes back hits the ground.

I just have viper gen and Abel's 5th left.

Yeah, Balrog's 4th is what's giving me trouble. I can't seem to pull of the the dashing EX upper on a consistant basis, he always does the the other dashing punch. Also landing the Ultra after the headbutt seems pretty tough, but I pulled it off once while trainning.

Went to GS and asked for Samurai Shodown Anthology for PS2. The guy pulled out Samurai Warriors and started to ring me up. Long story short they didn't have it. :(

Obviously EX TT has faster recovery so if you miss you are alright, but time a standard TT after Roll wrong and you eat all sort of nasty shit :). I found that doing cammy's dive kick is pretty easy with a square gate. I usually go 3219+k, like a triangle. I've been getting about 90% success doing it that way instead of doing 2149+k.

That's not the full combo but it's the end of it. The full combo is c.MP -> light change of direction (first hit) -> FADC -> c.HP -> light roll -> falling sky

I can do it perfectly until the light roll -> falling sky

The roll to falling sky has to be done in one motion. I used to see people do it in the arcade and couldn't figure it out until a friend of mine that is a beast with Abel showed me the motion for it. If you do it right, it should look like Abel barely rolls and then grabs the opponent out of the air.

From what I've heard and personally played of the Japanese version, yeah this pretty much sums it up. Justice is so powerful and fun to play as. :)

I'm tempted to pick it up, but that's really all that's new.

I can do 5/7 moves on Cammy's final hard trial. For whatever reason. I can't figure how to EX cancel after a cannon spike for a 2nd time. :| It sucks because I'm so close. >_<

And FYI, After you EX cancel dash forward for the first time, let dan hang in the air for a half second. If you cannon spike right after you dash forward, you'll miss him completely.

UMBC game night as a blast.. if any of you are around the Maryland on a Wednesday night, that's the place to be for fighting games. Basically, my buddy from work, his buddy, and myself took turns wiping the floor with our Ryu, Zangief, and Blanka (respectively). No one could touch us... there was this one Akuma who put a very fierce win streak on but my Blanka took him out without any problem.. then the next match my buddy's Ryu hands my ass to me. It's so weird playing against someone new in contrast to someone you play against every day. When it's him vs. me, we'll go back and forth all night and end up pretty even, but when other people come to play us.. we usually have no trouble taking them out. So weird...
