Either way, I've always believed that Capcom's "friendship" with it's community is a sham. They use said community as cheap market research to find out what games we want, make them, praise themselves in the media for making "what the fans want" and then they nickle-and-dime us to death on withheld content. Content that sells because of the brand loyalty the "friendship" helps to develop. It's brilliant from a corporate perspective, but it's shit for the gamers.

Like I said, you don't suck. You are way better than most beginners where you have a better understanding of what is needed to play correctly. You know to poke (sometimes), fall back wen needed, etc.

To be honest, playing you, the two things I would say learn is to get comfortable with knowing most of Lee's moves where they become kind of second nature. I'm glad you don't spam like most players (though you do throw alot... something I see most beginners lean on, but you not so much). Use training mode for a while The other thing is then after learning the moves, get a better idea of the properties against opponents (ie. reg hit, counter hit, air hit, combo hit... etc). I recomend you practice this on the AI.

from there you should feel good :)

I just listened to a Starcraft podcast (day[9]) that tells you that there is some advantage to playing players worse than you.

I think the same thing applies to FGs. I know a lot of players here hate playing random scrubs online because they lose to "dumb tactics" or have to deal with it, but in reality, you need to have a solid unfailing defense against it.

I complained that "spam jumping back with a shoto is soooo safe" a while ago. Well, I learned it's not safe. In fact, it's such a positional weakness that with Sakura I can easily take advantage of it. That's because I've played against bad players so much that if a good player mistakenly does a jump back, I can take advantage of it.

If you lose to random uppercuts or players that jump in non-stop, you need to learn how to win and turn it around, because when a good player makes this mistake, what're you going to do? You NEED to be able to punish it because he might not make many of those mistakes.

As said in the podcast:

"Better players teach you what NOT to do. Worse players teach you what TO do."

I tried my bro's Chun-Li fightpad and was also unimpressed. For some reason I couldn't use charging characters effectively with it. I had to switch back to the normal 360 controller. But for non-charging characters it seemed a little better. Still I'm glad I didn't buy one.

Most Neo-Geo emulators support a Prototype version of Garou:MOTW that should be avoided at all costs. This version has many bugs and changes from the released versions that make unsuitable for real play.
The Neo-Geo AES (home console) and Neo-Geo MVS (arcade) versions are considered the only pure versions, and they are identical. Support for Garou is available on all worthwhile Neo-Geo emulators.
The Japanese Playstation 2 version is the best home version. The controls are very tight and the game play is perfect. The only differences during play are the words 'Guard Cancel' do not flash on the screen like the other versions. The training mode is superior to all other versions, and allows for recording and playback of the training dummy's actions. For practicing setups and other single player training, this version is the best, even better than the pure Neo-Geo versions.
The Dreamcast version is the worst of all possible versions. It offers nothing over the Neo-Geo versions other than the unlockable image gallery and the arranged soundtrack mode. Inputs are delayed, and some versions show problems with sound effects delaying as much as 2 seconds from when they should play. If possible, select the original soundtrack option instead of the arranged soundtrack, and play on the original GD-ROM to lessen these effects. Even with these adjustments, this is the worst option for play; even playing on an emulator will be more satisfying.
