Simply put, all you have to do is practice. Practice reacting to certain approaches and moves. Practice your own combinations. Really, once you have a good level of execution, then you can move on to better decision making. Sure there are times throughout the game where it becomes 50/50 and you have to guess. But making the right guess is a little easier once you try to read the opponent's mind. Just don't go throwing out random moves expecting the other person to be hit by them.

Just hit me up anytime on PSN, I'll be more than happy to play a couple games.

Seconded.
Play more. A lot of it is gaining intuition and reading your opponent. When you play enough you'll see patterns and tells emerge. If you're really saucy you can record your own matches and see if you're getting predictable or throwing out things with too much risk.

Last I checked option.iv's Chun was on par if not a lot better than my Ken. That was like 7-8 months ago though, and I haven't played as much since so I bet he's like super skilled now.

To JEKKI / Markman, hey, you guys got space in your room for Evo? I'd only be staying one night, Saturday night so yeah.

Just so everyone knows, I haven't forgot about the contest. So far I have lined up for prizes 2 games, a few posters and a hand-drawn custom avatar from RelentlessRolento. I have 15 questions (Thanks Rod!) but am looking to expand it to 25.

ALSO: Blazblue is nice. So far I'm digging Jin and Honman (sp?). The other characters are cool but I haven't sunk a whole lot of time into it so I don't know how to use them well. Will have to wait for console version. To those that are curious, it plays very similarly to Guilty Gear. It could easily be a sequel if it shared any characters.

I was never really interested in it either.. I don't know much about it besides that it's going to be an HD current generation spiritual successor to Guilty Gear. The videos of it look real good and a lot of people here are hyped about it.. so I figured I'd check it out. I don't know anything about the characters or the story but the surprise will just be another part of the fun. I'll probably never be good at it.. but hopefully it'll hold me over until Tekken 6 comes out!

I'll be buying the XBLA version because I never got the $15 version months ago for the PS2 as soon as I heard Live play was on I had to hold off. Plus If MS doesn't screw anything up, all XBLA titles are to be future backwards as far as I know - which means I can play KOF98 UM with a stick on Microsoft's system for years to come. That is till everything is taken over by wiimote clones :P

As I mentioned on the previous page, I got the automated call from GS that Blazblue would be in tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. Not sure if that applies to everyone, but I live near San Francisco if that helps any.

Hopefully my local GS I pre-ordered at will get it in before 3pm. Mostly because I work from 3-11:30p and I'd rather just wake up on Wednesday (my day off) and play Blazblue, instead of having to drive and go get it on Wednesday.

I have a couple of questions, I bought Fight Night R4 with the BB deal, But I think that Blazeblue looks pretty sweet. I really like Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom as far as fighting games go, is Blazeblue even remotely close to Street Fighter game play wise? And from what I gather by glancing at some posts about BB it has only a few attack buttons and a guard button, correct? I enjoyed the FN R4 demo and it seems like a well rounded game, I just am not 100% sure about keeping it.

You know I've been listening to the soundtrack while at work, and its been really good, getting me hyped to play the game. Basic rock stuff, but there's a lot of nice melodies. Been playing through Street Fighter Alpha anthology and it feels really weird playing the first Alpha! A lot of the normals can cancel into each other, so you get these "chain combos" that feel like UMK3 or a Vs. game. Plus a lot of moves hit or trade in kind of a weird way... I remember a lot of stuff with Bisons's fireballs felt kinda off... and sweeps not knocking down, weird stuff like that!

Also the overall presentation is kinda dull... I really noticed this in the Bison fight, you're just in this boring-ass train station and there's no real feeling of tension or excitement. I expect more from a FINAL BOSS fight. Alpha 3 really stepped things up in the aesthetics department IMO.

at the end of the day, if u suck then u suck, but if that's what it takes to enjoy the game then go for it. The depth of BB's system doesnt give a player much of an advantage if theyre doing simple input moves coz chances are that's all they can really do.

Cheating? No, they put it in there for a reason. Though I'm strongly against using it because it can easily become a crutch, but if that's what it takes for you to win then go for it. However, BB's online gives rooms the option of turning them off, so don't rely on it. I'm 99.9% sure it'd be banned in tournaments.

Nah, stick specials aren't cheating. Having the stick for specials is actually a good thing since it allows for better competition from inexperienced players. It's casual-friendly, but not in the derogatory sense of the word. No way it should be allowed in tourneys, though.

I actually ran into Jekki last night on Blazblue. I got beat soundly.

Don't feel bad, pretty sure Jekki is on of the top players on live atm. Has a 74% win rate. Someone spent some time at the arcades.

On a side note, Unlimited Rag in Score attack is a fucker.

Hey MarkMan, while I was mid-fight, the right trigger button on my TE stick stopped registering. I unplugged the stick and then plugged it back in after a few seconds and it was working again. Was that just a common, one-time glitch?
