So true. I think the way Abel wins that match is to just confuse the Gief player with random tactics. Although, nothing is more satisfying than hitting Abel's Ultra just at the end of Gief's Clothesline Spin.
You can punish a blocked/whiffed spinning lariat with a well timed (window is small), cr. mk xx mp CoD or with cr. hp xx hp CoD if close enough. Abel's kick special eats most of Gief's specials. And Abel can feel much safer whenever he has an EX meter for an EX TT, which beats out Gief's non-ex SPDs.

Use anti airs as needed, i.e. cr. mk. I even use neutral jump hk. I find it best to stay within Gief's green hand range (where it will definitely hit), as that will definitely shut down the whiffed green hand hijinks. But at the same time, stay out of the lp spd.

Back dashing is usually a safe option against Gief on wake up if you ever get knocked down.

If you're ahead, don't hesitate to hold back and even run away. You'll need every little thing against a competent Gief player.

Yeah that is the best version we got in the states. The best port is revision but of course that was not put out here. You can change the ps2/xbox version back to the DC port if you want, but their is no reason to do so. Which is funny cause the DC version was an update to the arcade.

u're really trying to dispute me on a game I give a dick about? The zero series excels in stage design and the ability of your character to make perfect play throughs each stage given adequate skill level of the character. The game is considered hard by most casual players (which in and of itself is a selling point without going deeper into it), but a more insightful player will figure out the stage layout and figure out how to make best use of your character to succeed the stage. Ultimately it rewards you for clearing within a timely manner with minimal damage taken, because the game was designed to allow such to happen. Granted yes there are some stages that make u do things like rescue hostages, hit switches, collect things that definitely take away from the action, but they are still layed out in a way that feels like it's the stage itself you are battling.

The X series is fun... for the first 4 games. They were nothing more than reskinned megaman with some new abilities and backtracking. The fun lies in the reward you get by powering up your armors and feeling like an overall badass as opposed to Zero series where the reward is you yourself are the badass for figuring out how to play the game. That said the game is much more accessible, whereas in Zero accessibility comes at a price/consequence via the elf system. Come X4, the game was fresh. X5, dont act like u fukkyn remember this game coz aint nobody remember X5. X6 was garbage, one of the worst designed games I ever played. After that I guess the series went to a shyt direction and I stopped caring.

the zero series is a great maturation of the megaman groundwork similar to how MM9 took the years of experience and crafted something spectacular. And as I said, X series does have the accessibility factor to it, but any fan of MM knows that's not why you play a megaman game, therefore truly saying X is better than zero is an invalid argument unless you completely remove X series as definitive megaman similar to how Legends did and treat the argument as lemons vs oranges. If left field is really what you look for in a MM game then go play Battle Network too

MM that was pretty damn good to be honest. From someone who isn't big into Tekken more than a casual stand point it kept me interested though out the whole show. A big plus for me at least was that there weren't pauses though out it, everyone seemed to know what they wanted to say. It bugs the shit out of me when I have listened to a few other fighter pod casts ( gootecks) and " um " comes before and after every sentence.

I liked that you went into news for other fighters as well. I know its a Tekken podcast but I think that is something that should be kept in, nothing to in depth but just a little heads up on what is going on.

Something I didn't like, the cock tease about the third new toon in BB . I have to admit my heart got all fluttier for a second. Evil bastards .

As for the Xconverter360, I tested it with both versions of the SFA stick, works fine.

A lot of top players on pad because arcade sticks were harder to find back when TEKKEN was flourishing on console tournaments. It's actually more sticks now from what I've seen. There's a good mix though, especially with a lot of top players (most of them are old school)....

Tekken owes its popularity to its accessibility. Like most 3D fighters, u can do simple combos with jus three buttons. From there you learn to launch, you learn to juggle, realize how easy it is, then start to have fun.

depth is there for the ppl who look for it and commit their time to the game which is similar to any well made fighting game. But on the surface the game is still a good time and since so many new ppl will be coming into the game you will all get the chance to learn together.

contrast that with the reason MVC2 isnt easy... coz that game has been out forever and ppl have been good at it for so many years. The way the game was played when it first came out is nothing like how it's played now.

King if you dont already have a TE why not just pick up the T6 bundle. The stick is rumored not to be junk and you get T6 plus the other goodies. You can always upgrade to a TE later down the road if you feel the T6 stick isn't good enough for you.

There will always be a scene for any fighter for casual players so I wouldnt worry about that, but Tekken is nothing like MvC2. Tekken is like chess as MvC2 is like a dirty boxing match.

@KingBroly: Tekken 6 isn't worth it if you aren't hardcore into the series. Most Tekken games aren't that friendly for casual fighters due to their juggle-focused gameplay or terrible bosses(T5).

The only one that actually was pretty easy to pick up and play was Tekken Tag Tournament on the PS2. It's the only game in the series I really like, and by "like", I mean "in my top 5 fighting games ever". Aside from TTT, I really don't like the series that much.

I think Dead or Alive might be more up your alley, KB. It's the Checkers of 3-D fighting games, it's as complicated as you want it to be. Just go pick up DOA3 & DOA: Ultimate for the Xbox, along with TTT on the PS2 and don't look back until T6 is in the bargain bin for $20.

However, I know you don't give Virtua Fighter enough credit for being an excellent 3-D fighter. Calling it "meh at best" was weaker than anything I brought to the table.

It actually uses the 1MB cart but it may be able to utilize the 4MB cart (in the same way that KOF 97 does, it only uses 1MB of the RAM). There's a setting in the options to turn on the RAM expansion but doing so actually makes the game run more slowly. You are better off leaving the option disabled.

One of my few gripes about Capcom on the Saturn is that they never rereleased X-men COTA and Marvel Superheroes as a bundle with full 4MB support.

I don't think so. I only remember downloading one update and that was about 2 months ago. The lag is random. Occasionally you'll get a lag free match. Having more than 2 people in a match never turns out well.

Heh... good games. Abuse the hell out of that crouching jab with Balrog more and make sure you can hit his bread and butter headbutt combo into his ultra consistently. Once you get used to a stick, you won't want to go back.

After playing a lot of SF4 online lately, i have to say that i HATE facing gief as balrog. It makes me furious that i usually do not have an answer for most of giefs tricks. When he zones in, its so tough to get away again, especially if the gief knows what they are doing. The only other problem i have is facing a ken who is REALLY good at linking. Ken is fast enough to get a c.weak kick in and then he can go to own, ending with a fierce upper, FADC and then ultraing me. Its sickening. When i face a good gief tho and lose, i switch to sagat and rape them a new one. Sagat hardly even has to try and he destroys gief with roundhouse alone.

And really, my #1 problem i have in SF4 is when people jump in, i try to throw them too often like im playing HD Remix. You can throw out of footsies in that game and im so used to that since my childhood of growing up with SF2, that i keep trying it in SF4 and get punished so badly. Need to work on that.

Thats easy to do? Have you actually tried it? Ryu's good combos have 1 frame links and pretty much the only person I've seen that does them consistently is Daigo. Your average Ryu doesn't try that crap. Hell Valle and John Choi go for the easy versions of the combos.

Its not that hard, I can do it fairly consistently. Although it might be true that in a higher pressure environment that I would stick to something simpler like crmp, standing mk, whatever I feel like afterwards.


Im pretty sure the only one frame links he has are linking his standing fierce from forward fierce and linking his mk or roundhouse from mp while crouching, everything else is 2-4 frames.



Compare el fuerte's links, which have 2 1 frame inputs just to get an extra mk and lk into a crmk super combo for maybe 40-50 more damage, whereas ryu has 2-4 frame links that give 2-3 times more extra damage.

Personally I've never been a fan of portable fighters. For the simple reason that since you're performing complicated hand movements the screen is consistently moving. For me it just makes it hard to see what's going on.

But for the game itself it's good. You get all the play modes from World Tour to Dramatic Battle. 4 extra characters (Eagle, Ingrid, Maki & Yun). So with all those features it's defiantly one of the best versions of the game. However I found the controls a little stiff making it hard to pull off some of the more complicated moves. If you can find it for $15 or under I think it's defiantly worth it.
