Most button mashers pick Eddy and Hwoarang in my experience.

If you're trying to learn the game, I'd recommend starting with Kazuya or Paul. They're both fairly good characters who are more or less just fighters. Neither of them are "specialty" characters in the sense that there is a certain way to play them (such as King or Dragunov.)

The game uses 4-buttons laid out in a square, so whatever 4 buttons on the TE you want to make would work fine. The buttons look like this...

i think you should play as whoever you want to play.

Speaking of DOA:U, Monday is the game's fifth anniversary. Gonna celebrate by unlocking everything again and adding to the well over 225 hours I've spent with it. the netcode is garbage.

it's Soul Calibur all over again, Im losing to mashers who as far as I can tell are playing blindfolded. I cant block on reaction, I cannot side step on reaction, and I cannot avoid getting otg'd coz the game doesnt acknowledge the fact that I wanna stand up soon enough.

I cant even punish whiffs on reaction. the few times I do get a hit in, I cant follow it up coz the moves I wanna do dont come out when I input them. By the time they do, my opponent has already hit the ground and Im punching air.

if I wanna win I'd hafta switch from xiaoyu since she doesnt seem to have many good lag tactic moves aside from uf+3+4. I won matches by jus doing this one move, but then stopped doing it coz it wasnt fun -_-; I'd hafta play a character with a mashable string, coz even my reliable pokes dont work.

so yeay, if this isnt fixed I guess I gotta pick the game up for psp and play for fun only. Otherwise Im staying the fukk off online mode.

No, BB got a patch for the online the day it was released which fixed it. This patch only adds the online modes. =\

Has there ever been any other fighter that turned out this way the day it came out? I don't recall BlazBlue or SFIV having this problem on release day.

Game plays great, story mode is pretty lame, at least judging from the 5 minutes I spent on it, and online was better than DRO for me, but that's not saying much.

Edit: OK, I've played with some people, and a friend that I used to play T5DR Online with and have decent connections was pretty damn smooth, very little lag. Others came in the room, and it varied. The key will be finding people you can have a decent connection with, OPENING THOSE PORTS if you haven't, and using a wired ethernet connection.

Seriously though, the netcode for PS3 Tekken 6 makes me wanna blow my brains out. Good luck getting Raven knee juggles to work (or any juggle that isn't just launcher --> meaty hit to work, for that matter.)

Gameplay is great though, but it's almost 2010... the way the game plays is unbearable. MUCH, MUCH worse than SCIV for me.

I think I had one of the worst matches ever. I went up against a dude using Kazuya where all he did was the series of spin kicks and throws. Normally this would be a easy match. Defense and whack him. but with lag defense was hard since I had a 1-2 second input lag online. Making defense much more hard, and counterattacking even harder. Tekken is all about timing, and a 1-2 delay ruins it.

I REALLY hope Namco fixes up the online. I would not even care if I have to purchase a No Lag Lobby DLC. :lol:

Also am I the one that thinks Namco put too much time into Scenario Campaign?

Fixed. The EX Palm sends them too far forward and down too fast for a regular dash > Ultra. You CAN do:

EX Palm > forward dash > Tatsu, or EX Palm > MP Palm.

One that I wish worked for Gouken is EX Palm > FADC > Jump MP for two hits > land > Ultra. Ultra doesn't hit correctly, only gives you like a few regular hits, not the full connect version.

You can only do jump MP > Super, and noting else (from what I've tested). It's stupid, because I think it does less damage then just using EX moves to combo into Ultra with scaling.

I've been feelin Alisa and Raven so far. I was pretty much exclusively a Raven player in 5.0 competition-wise, but moved to Jack-5 for Dark Resurrection.

Haven't given to much time to Jack because I'm having a hard time adjusting to not having f+1+2, df+2 (what do I end my juggles with now?)

I just find Alisa to be a ton of fun. I haven't checked TZ or anything yet, but off of just df+2 launcher i've been doing

I do kind of wish that the Achievements/Trophies weren't all for that Scenario mode, though - it's like they knew the netcode would be questionable, so they decided to only dole out, like, five awards for it. That said, the online is running well enough for me that out of the two hours I played last night, I only had one match lag enough to cause problems. I'm still gonna stick with playing people I know, but it's better than nothing.

Now for the Ultra Noob Combo: how the fuck do you save match replays? I know it's something that's supposed to pop up after a match, but I'm not seeing shit. Is it not available for online matches or something?

bound is (B!) a move that kinda makes them bounce on the floor. ling's are RDS 2~2 and ff+1. because you make them bounce on the floor you can get more hits in. usually you do a common ender for bound... ff+1 gets you ff+2,1 or XMTS like you said, RDS 2~2 give you d+1+4, f+3,1,1+2 or RDS 2,1.

it's kinda like a launcher in a launcher, but it's really just part of the combo.

also if you low parry or break the floor on the stage, they're put in a bound state so you know to finish with your ender.

its also important for other reasons. like if you jab someone out of the air, you can do your bound move for a guaranteed ender instead of being caught out of position for a normal juggle. stuff like that.

every move is not useful
for example, if there's a really slow high-mid combo that leaves you at -6 on block with no benefits on CH and is neutral on hit, why learn it?

if there were an order to learn moves, i'd do it like this.

1: Go to Tekken Zaibatsu
2: Learn the key juggles for your character. It might be tough because they usually have one gigantic combo thread and not all the combos are useful. The reason for learning juggles is because generally they do the most damage possible and they're easy to do as well.
3: Most character forums have a "top 10 moves" thread. These are pretty good because they usually contain setups. Setups like "This move has a really big range, and on block you can do so-and-so" which is how you formulate strategy. Familiarize yourself with these.
4: Finally, go watch some videos so you can see how a good person plays as your character. If there are moves that don't look familiar, then you go through the movelist to find them.


and that's how i learn the very very basics of a character. it's also iterative... you keep going back, playtesting, then reading threads and watching videos to see what's right, and then you playtest again, etc...

That's exactly what I did, I shot his ass off the side. No clue how many monsters there are. Just keep Alisa alive too so she can distract Devil Jin while you get on the other side to shoot his ass off.

pretty much yeah skip all the cutscenes and for azazel i finally realized just put the difficulty on easy and set the rounds to 1 then u can beat him with simple jab combos which for me is pressing lp and rp back and forth and throwing in lp+rp once in awhile to keep him down :lol:

Difficulty doesn't do anything to the bastard. Easy or Ultra Hard, it doesn't matter. He is cheap and breaks the whole entire fighting engine for Tekken.

Finally beat Nightmare Train. I had trouble because I forgot to equip an item that gave me extra defense. After I figured that out it was a cake. I went on to beat the level 7 more times just to farm for treasure & money. I only have to complete the Gallery and this will be the second game I get 1000/1000 nerd points for.

Azazel isn't too bad. He's got some cheap ground hits, but the guy is so big he's easy as hell to juggle. I've been trying to unlock everyone's ending and usually die once on him with characters I don't know.

Make sure both your characters have good stats, keep playing the level to get Rank S items.

Some good stats:

1. Lots of extra health
2. High item drop percentage
3. Lots of extra damage
4. Maybe some kind of defense multiplier
5. Whatever you think is best... I find that elemental multipliers help

I got my Tekken bundle in the mail today (still no Yoshi code) and returned my other copy of the game to GameStop.. gonna try out the stick when I get home.. it doesn't look too bad. This will be the first game I get 1000/1000 in, since it was so easy. I also ended up getting 200/200 in SF2 Remix and Doritos Dick Attack. Good times. :bomb:

Straight up, DSP annoys me.

I have full respect for him as a tournament player, but many of the comments he makes during his matches are what I hear random scrubs say when they get beasted on.

When he's winning, the other guy is garbage.
When he's losing, it's always because online play is craptastic and input lag is 6 days long.

For a dude who hates online play so much, he's obviously been playing SFIV online a lot. Surprised he hasn't had a heart attack yet.

One thing I like that Tekken did with online that I wish SFIV would pick up on is that before you jump online you choose your character before the match ever begins... I like it better than blind select.

Alot of the T6 endings suck, but there's some golden ones in there.

Ones to note are the Roger Jr., Mokujin, Kaz/Hei, and Anna ones... others are good but not that great.

I am starting to play unranked matches in 4 player rooms on Tekken 6, and I am having a much better experience online. Most of the sessions are green, so not much lag at all. No ranks unfortunately, but ranked matches consist of players with lag that button mash with Law and Eddy.
