Damn, I was just playing single play on KoF11. I was on battle 7, it's one of the bosses I think. Almost won, but she pulled out a super special leader move the second before mine. I slammed my controller in a fit of rage, and it froze the game! :(((((

I looooooove this game though. Not big on the team thing cause I am only even slightly good with Iori so far.

I think I'm having so much fun with it because I haven't looked up combos or strategies or any of that shit online, I'm just playing. It feels good to figure out a combo on your own.
Funny, I just unwrapped mine last night and had some fun in practice. I'm liking K' and Vanessa so far, trying' to decide on a third person. I'm still trying to figure out why they made a character like Ash, he/she is just sooo...weird/creepy.

Well, i play as new Sagat on ST. Assuming Sagat's hitbooxes haven't been tampered with, try to close the distance, about 3/4 of the screen close. Then just jump and roundhouse. Sagat's tiger shots extend his arms pretty far out so you can just poke him. He can really only abuse them at full screen. I know HD Sagat's tiger shots have a better recovery than ST Sagat, but they're still not as good as O. Sagat's. Once you get in, it should be pretty simple, especially since he doesn't have the same special cancels as O.Sagat, noteably st. short xx tiger shot (rh).

My match against the chick before him was intense. At the end I had no visible health left. I managed to catch her with a hadoken (I know that isn't what it's called, but it's the equivalent) as she came out of a roll. My sister came in the room just as I one and did a little victory man grunt thing. :lol:

Spent like 30 minutes on an SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos machine today. Game was crazy fun, I wish it had a PS2 version.

It was released in Japan on PS2. Bought a copy at a local import shop a couple years ago. Mostly because it was $19.99 used for an original copy (non-Best/GH). Game is awful :)

CVS2 is too good. Paying $30 for a like new PS2 version many many years ago was one of the best things I've ever done.

I actually think both games are fun.

I feel like they were victims of hype wagon bashing. In other words, some people didn't like the competition in them so a lot of people got on board and started hating.

I understand that SvC isn't and won't ever be a competitive game because of the imbalanced characters and extremely easy spam / cheese / infinites, but it's a really fun game to pick up and play with friends. It's the only game you'll ever get to play as SNK versions of Capcom characters, so that gives it kudos right there.

CFE, on the other hand, is a different story. The game suffers from the fact that it's just very vanilla. It doesn't really differentiate itself in any important way. It's fun to play every once in awhile but it never really developed a large competitive gaming scene. It's just to cookie cutter. Like SvC though, it can be fun with friends. I know I personally like picking the SF2 characters, because they play kinda cool. It's also nice to pick Jedah and the Warzard characters. Even the new character, Ingrid, was fun to play as. Like I had said though, the game suffered from the fact that it was very plain / basic.

Capcom Fighting Evolution is by far worse IMO. I never really thought SvC Chaos was a bad game, it just doesn't hold up with the big boys. CFE was a jumbled mess, besides Ingrid there was nothing new. I thought the character roster should have atleast gone over 40 characters, given this was supposed to be a Capcom crossover.

I think it just looked basic, because I was pretty confused at how every system intertwined and worked with each other... like how Alpha characters could escape roll and therefore, against DS characters they couldn't get hit by the chasing attack or whatever it was called.

It also needed more characters.

Like others here, I have the PS2 import (bought it on sale for like $25) and no matter what I do, I can't consistantly pull off special moves. I've tried regular PS2 controllers, my HRAP2, my Saturn pads, nothing works right. Fuck that fucking fuck.

Not even worth posting. They gave 28 to KoFXI when most people consider the best in the series since 2002. Then gave Arc system Work's worst game the same score.

As long as SvC wasn't taken too seriously, it was fun. The inputs were SNK style, so that's why some thought the controls were unresponsive. It had the best version of Dan.

He said that he thought of me when he got it in, so he held onto it for me for a couple of days. Shit was hella tight.

I tried practicing K Groove over the weekend, and dear god did I do terribly. I didn't know how much I missed rolling until I couldn't do it anymore. Also, I might modify my team a bit, and wean out Yun, and just make it Lvl 1 Terry, Lvl 3 Joe. Double Cyclones demand it.

So for KOFXI, what's your fav team setup?

I like Shen/Duck/Oswald, personally. Shen just gets in there with a couple of nice overheads and easy QCF+P-->Super, while Duck is just hella fun and confuses people, and Oswald is cleanup. I'm getting better with memorizing which commands to do for his strings, but I still get confused at times, and that leads to a loss like, 40% of the time.

^ Terry is the MOTW version. So no Rising Tackle but he's got the Power Charge and BUSTER WOOOOOLF

Gato can play the same however he's missing his Max level DMs from MOTW (except the DPx3 one) He's gained a whole set of "Fuuga" (aerial command moves.) But honestly I didn't like any of them. I prefer Gato from MOTW.

EDIT - And Gato's missing his DP+K, which sucks. So yeah, they fucked up Gato alot.

You won't miss it once you can JD on a dime. I don't run K mostly because I'd miss RC'ing too much.

Just learn to JD effectively, obviously learn your characters strengths/weaknesses in K, and obviously.....RUSHDOWN. I have to be honest that K almost rewards you for taking risks :)

I don't know anyone who plays with only two characters... you should always play 3. Put in a top tier person like Sagat or Blanka or Cammy or something. Yamazaki's also decent in K, as is Rock and Hibiki but yeah. There's a lot of good fun K-groove style players, you shouldn't just use two people. I heard there's even a good K-Raiden somewhere.

I think there was talk of an old K-Raiden player from Japan. Other than that the only time I've run into a great K-Raiden player was up here in NorCal. Ran into a guy at SVGL who had a ridiculously good K-Raiden (and K-Zangief).

Gene's brain is a computer. Fact? Too good at CVS2

P.S: I also agree with KainZero, don't run 2 characters. K-Sagat, K-Cammy, K-Ken would be fantastic to run. Hell, lots of characters run well in K.

Vega especially pisses me off because his standing attacks have longer range than mine..

Cammy sucks too, but I think it's just cause I'm not used to playing against her.

Dunno about the Gat or Vega, but Chun-li is hard to keep in fireball traps, and can mess up some shoto games with her anti air stuff.

Head hopping in the corner on shotos works too I think, not sure.

Really just watch the other player closely. Often poke with you cr.forward. Mix up your attacks and throw in some tick throws, i.e. jab >> throw or when they are knocked down, meaty or my favorite, df.roundhouse >> jab >> throw. Try to build up you super meter as often as you can i.e. jumping over fbs and doing whirlwind kick. Also once in a while do Chun's charged super: charge back, forward, back, hold forward and press a kick button whenever you want to let it out. If you have a chance, you could probably fake the opponent out and just do a tick setup instead because they'd be too worried about the super. Instant jump to headstomp is a good "overhead" as well can at most times out prioritize dps. A fast vertical jump roundhouse is also a good anti-air.

I need to find me a recliner, so I can finally get rid of my current seating for my setup... because right now, I've got one of those chairs that's basically like sitting on the floor, but with slightly more back support. And that's been as good as it's been for like... the last 6 years, so i figure it's time to live like a classy lad. Point is, I'm excited, and a good chair is more conducive to using an arcade stick that's in your lap than what I have now. Strategic advantage.

Bored as fuck. No point in studying for finals, either... :(

You know what would be awesome? If SF4 had SFEX's training mode.

That was the best part about that game. It had each special and super move, and then a number of combos all the way up to pretty advanced stuff. It also had some random challenges thrown in like "do a 30 hit combo" etc...

It was amazing, and IMO the best part about that game. I would kill for that mode in SF4. KILL!

I remember playing Ex Alpha 1 for a looong time, I'd play with my neighbor all the time (since he owned the game :P). I had so much fun, but Zangief's lvl3 was a PITA to pull off with the D-pad, I had blisters just trying to do it :/

I almost had a 100% complete on those challenges but then I lost my memory card >_<

I know it's a long shot, but would anyone want to swap bonus DVDs when SFIV comes out? I'm getting the game on the 360, but I'd like the Blu-Ray bonus disc. I'll swap my C. Viper figure for the Ryu one as well, if anyone wants to do that.

I'm in the same boat on both fronts (BD and Ryu).

I might end up having to get the PS3 version after all. I wasn't planning on it after SFHD ended up being semi-inferior on the PS3, but now who knows. We'll see we'll see.

It seems Capcom put several of the choices from that Street Fighter.com "what do you want in the Special Edition?" poll from a few months ago. The soundtrack, the figure, exclusive DLC. They were all on the poll. And I'm glad it's a DVD(or something watchable on the 360) that the anime movie comes on. I think they have enough in the Collector's Edition to get me to jump.

And while I'm at it, what about Darkstalkers? Did that PS2 collection get axed, or was it import-only? I was quite happy with my PS1 copy of Darkstalkers 3, until I fired up MAME and realized how many frames were being droped!

The two easy ways to get Samurai Shodown II now are the PS2 collection (which is out and Japan and coming out here next March, I think) and Xbox Live. The advantage to the PS2 compilation is that it has several games on it. Unfortunately, the emulation is off on these games, as there's a few graphical glitches. That's disappointing. The Xbox Live version is kinda expensive, as it's $10 for just Samurai Shodown II, but it's also spot on. And I'm like positive you can turn off the silly graphical filter. The game also runs in 720p, so even with the sprites unfiltered, it still looks great. So yeah, go with the 360 version, since I can basically guarantee you that the US release of the collection will have all the current issues and more.

The Import copy of Darkstalkers Collection (PS2) could be found pretty cheap since it's been part of the "Best of Series" for a couple years now. I snagged one a while back for $10.

I ordered it. I kind of regret it, though. The lack of actual exclusive things in the package is kind of disappointing... the only really exclusive thing is the disc that is focused more towards people who do image design/photoshop, it seems.

Oddly enough, I did get a backorder notice. I'm assuming it's just because it's technically not available yet, but I was worried for a second.

Thanks to Jim's kind words of encouragement, I just ordered my first Wii import game.

After reading up on SRK (and reading various user's posts), speaking to Jim, decided to just put down an order...

Oh, you know for what...

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (Play-Asia....$8 off coupon YAY!)

and I bought a Joybox (PS2-->GC) converter for about $20. A couple users on SRK said that they tested it out with a couple sticks, including a HRAP. So hopefully they are right and I don't have to get stuck with playing with a shitty GC pad, or getting the Hori Wii Stick.

I still haven't really put much time into it. I really don't like that they slowed the game down as much as they did, because it's less fun to play multiplayer now. But I really do want to play through the Subspace Emissary, because that looks really fun.

So basically, it's even less of a fighter for me than the last one was... It's a side-scroller.

Played some more MKvDC over the last couple days. Mapped it to the EX2 and it's actually pretty fun. The gameplay is pretty shitty, but the game is just fun. Doesn't hurt that I grew up a superhero / comicbook nerd (so I appreciate Deathstroke and Captain Marvel being in it.)

It's fun though. I recommend everyone pick it up when it's about 10 dollars.

I just didn't like it overall so I can't say much. The sad part is I've unlocked more and done more in the game than friends of mine who play it like a religion... I did it in 3 days.

that reminds me, when MK Deadly Alliance came out I unlocked all the coffins in 3 days... same for deception... same for alot of other games with a ton of unlockables.... >_< man I suck.

Well, me and my immediate friends were very into Melee. These days, we usually choose to play the older version over Brawl. It's not just you, a good amount of people prefer Melee over the new iteration.

I dunno, in some ways I prefer Brawl to Melee. I got used to the speed change (which is gigantic), and the tactics have changed a bit. I disagree ever-so-slightly about the edgeguarding tactics, since many characters have ways around it (Lucario, for one), or just don't need the edge at all (like Diddy). The one major complaint I do have about Brawl, however, is that it just feels like there could've been more put into the game. Costumes, certain moves for certain characters, music, levels, etc. While it's a good game, it just feels like they were going through the motions when you really look at it.

I used all 4 with SC2, and never noticed any kind of lag.

Then again, I didn't do any specific tests. I'm pretty adept at noticing that kind of stuff, but then again I could be wrong.

Even a tentative list would give me an idea of what to practice in. So far, I have a feeling that it's gonna be SC4, SF4, Brawl, HD Remix...and I can't think of anymore after that. I can see them getting rid of 3s, mainly because of the length some matches take. The finals this past year consisted of Chuns, a couple of Yuns and Oros, and one Akuma. The last game took waaaaaaaay too long, thanks to a Chun ditto. Shit got annoying so fast.

Mahvel is a lock, as is HD Remix. Brawl, I could see them being on the fence about. It got a good draw, but so many people complained about items being turned on, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have it altogether just to save themselves a headache.
