View Full Version : Does EBay have bots seaching for violations?

I just got a message that my listing for a DDR game I had was cancelled for violating listing policies. It was a brand new game (I bought a bundle and kept the dance pad and want to sell the game). I had it listed as brand new as the game itself is brand new, never opened or used. I had it listed under the correct UPC for just the game but I had the words "game only" in the description to let people know no dance pad is included just because I was trying to avoid some idiot asking where the dance pad was even though the listing gave no indication a dance pad was included.
The reason I am asking if it is a bot or not because if someone had actually read the description, they would have seen I said the game was brand new and sealed.
They also said if it keeps happening, I could be suspended. With the fee increases and max shipping maybe that is really isn't so bad.
What makes it worse is I have reported clearly pirated games before and EBay keeps those listings running yet something as stupid as this they pull.

I wonder. I sold my last game on ebay just this last week and I kept my $5.oo shipping cost when they were telling people to revise it to $4.00. where another time I was selling an x-men vs street fighter for the saturn and I mentions the ram cart, or i was giving the ram cart away free to the buiyer toplay it, and they canceled the auction, and I had to edit it and relist it. Ebay is strange, and I think they are going to shot themselves in the foot in the long run.

I think it is just the community policing itself, Freeloaders for instance can't be sold on ebay anymore but I see one occasionally slip through the cracks while other auctions get taken down within hours. It is pretty easy to report an auction and I guess people take advantage of it.

i've noticed that people here list their ebay items, yet I do a blanket search for said product using their title, and ebay doesn't even list it...
Makes me wonder if they are hosing my purchasing power which is utterly rediculous.
How can the charge you and not let your items show in searches... be right?
I really wish ebay had some competition....

yes, I am pretty sure they do auto-searches on certain keywords and use them to determine what stuff to take down. I had some video game lots taken down because they containing game enhancer things like gameshark.

I started noticing that about two months ago, as a seller I couldn't even find my own items. Then I started paying closer attention to starting times for auctions and found the stuff wasn't going live for 12 hours or more in some cases. Then combined with "best match" things just get lost in the shuffle.

My auctions go live within seconds of me listing it... I remember a time when they used to take like 3-4 hours but that hasn't happened to me in years.

I don't remember it happening with my account with 500 + feedback, since I switched to one with 50 it happens all the time.
