My grandmother fell down steps at her house. She spent three months in the hospital and still has a hard time remembering things. She couldn't tell me who I was. Granted, these were outside steps, and this wouldn't of helped, but you're laughing at people falling. It's not funny. Fuck you, ass.

Sure, I wouldn't buy one either. But doesn't everyone realize what the product is trying to do? A certain company by the name of Microsoft used this idea in a product most of you probably have, an Xbox controller! A lot of people see that as a good idea.

What cracks me up is that they act like they're doing you a big favor by throwing in a second unit for the $20 price. Those things have a manufacturing cost measured in pennies. The single most expensive component is the 10 cent LED.

And if you buy one your still fucked because you have more than one outlet in your house that has cords

I could see the dog one being useful too but i need something that electrocutes them when they start to chew on the cords he has destroyed my wireless xbox live power supply cord and my vacuum cord. Not to mention numerous speaker wires.

If my grandmother were so far gone she didn't know better than to create tripwires in her own home, well, it would be time for her to go live on a farm where she could run and play with other grandparents.

I love the part where it says "Perfect for homes with old people, kids, or pets." Like they all have the same mentality of not having common sense. It reminds me of TV Funhouse's cartoon of "The baby, the immigrant, and the guy on mushrooms."

That is the only instance where a cord would cross my floor. I've actually damaged a Dreamcast controller by tripping over the cord and having it yanked out of the unit. But can anyone else think of another example where you would have a cord cross a floor? Totally useless item.

I love the part where they mention this item's great gift potential. It would have to rank right up there with Chia Pet.

BTW Scorch, you do realize that the old lady was an actor pretending to trip, don't you? It certainly would be in poor taste to laugh if this was actual footage of someone falling and hurting themselves. C'mon, get a sense of humor!

I must admit that this commercial made me chuckle a little, but it doesn't come close to that other senior citizen in peril commercial - Lifeline's "I've fallen, and I can't get up!"

"Charlie Chaplin defined that thin line between comedy and tragedy. Say you see some poor slob get hit in the head with a bucket of wet cement. From 20 feet away that's funny as hell. But you get too close, you get close enough to feel that pain and...and it's no longer funny."

So, yeah, it's funny for the rest of us. And, to use your words, fuck you, ass, for telling anyone else what to think is funny or otherwise.

I like the "instant replay" that was flashing in the corner when the safety socket was shown in action.

If I had to take a guess, this thing probably doesn't even work well. In tradition with all infomercial products everywhere, the connection would probably be jittery and you wouldn't have constant power.

Can you imangine some fucking retard buying this and using it on a game console? As you go to save a game someone in your house lightly clips the power cord and you lose all your saves...

 Look, #1, your "grandmother" didn't trip over a cord stretched across a seemingly deserted room.
#2 It happened to ME. I took a fall down some stairs, received 20 stitches, and broke my wrist.

I think I'm qualified to laugh at a shaq-fuing lame-ass commercial.

Oh, BTW, you're an idiot.

You think BigNick is just showing this to us for laughs!

But when he starts selling them en masse on ebay, he'll have the last laugh, because we all saw the advertisement, and are subliminally inclined to buy this product!

Now that I think back on it my paternal grandmother once took a bad fall trying to get in my aunt's car. She had significant injuries but there wasn't much that could have been done to prevent it. She was the kind of brittle one expects from a 88 year old who was born early enough to remember people gathering in churches when Halley's Comet came around just in case it was nufged by a pissed off God to whack the planet. She recovered and live to 95.

She would have thought anyone who created tripwires in their own home was an idiot who got what they deserved.

my grandmother has mad walking skills so this wont help us :(

its kind of impractical... at first when i saw it, i was thinking WOAH! i actually could use one of those b/c my consoles used to get snatched off my entertainment center all the time... then i realized it was b/c of little kids tripping over the controller cord, not the outlet one... for a second i thought this could actually benefit me..

Does anybody sell controller extension cables that function like the xbox breakaways for the other consoles? Not that I need them personally, I've just never thought about it before.

Hmm I'd say this is probably one of the worst products ever. First of all that magnet thing isn't gonna work, it's gonna fall off and be useless. Secondly, what happened when the weighted part of the breakaway cord wraps around your leg? You trip...jeez, I can't believe this is an actual product.

Yeah, you wouldn't think so if it happened to your grandmother. It's really not funny at all.

My grandmother is very clutzy. She once fell after standing on a chair, trying to hand christmas decorations, and fractured her skull, but no permanant damage and shes fine now. We still tell stories about her clutziness and think its hilarious, and I think this commercial is funny. Not quite as funny as the "I've fallen, and I can't get up!" but not bad.

Now, there are lots of perfectly legitimate things that are funny, but that some people won't like because of a personal issue, or something that happened to them. For example, if you had a friend named Kenny that died, you may not find that part of Southpark particularly funny. But you know what you do? You don't watch it, and let other people enjoy it. If we couldn't find things funny that other people didn't like, then nothing would be funny. You could take almost anything funny and someone will have a sob story about why its not funny to them.

In Home Alone, Joe Pesci slips and falls on some ice, and many found it funny. Dr. Atkins of the Atkins diet slipped on some ice and died. I'm sure Dr. Atkins's family wouldn't find it funny, but does it mean that we can't? Maybe we should insert the Atkins family into the movie to tell us why its not funny, and why we should all be sad.

Sorry about your grandmother but no one cares if someone doesn't find something funny because of a personal reason related only to them.

What a useless product btw.
