I'm getting ready to reinstall Windows on my laptop due to some virus and I'm trying to make a list of everythign I'll need to reinstall. Is there a file somewhare that stores the info for all the bookmarked sites? I am transferring everything important to an external HD before wiping the computer and reinstalling everything.

If you're on Firefox 3, Bookmarks>Organize Bookmarks>Import and Backup>Backup is the way to do it, it SHOULD be the same on FF 2. Importing is the same, instead of hitting Backup, click Restore, then, choose file, then find the file, and use it.

what you basically want to do is install firefox on your new computer and copy the contents of this folder from your old machine onto your new machine:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\XXXXXXXX.default
USER is your account name and XXXXXXXX is some random key generated by firefox. this folder contains all your plugins, bookmarks, settings, cookies, etc. the folder location is slightly different on vista.

how about doing it the easy way. Use FEBE. Great Firefox extension for backing up everything.

Foxmarks is also good for syncing with multiple computers and should work for this as well.

+1
Foxmarks is a godsend if you're constantly moving between computers.
